I just upgraded to Firefox 31 and I've detected two annoying changes in the new tab page.

First, the new search box, I don't need it at all because I use search engines with keywords in the address bar and I'd like to know how to remove it.

Second, I had configured the new tab page to display 42 thumbnails (6 columns and 7 rows) and now it only shows 8 thumbnails. In the about:config the settings are still as I had them but only 8 thumbnails are shown no matter what number is set.

Can anyone tell me how to solve these problems without downgrading?

Today I downloaded one-thousand-and-something fonts, making a total of 7,131. I have a lot of fonts because I edit videos and images, and use different fonts according to the theme/feel of the edit.

Today, one of the one thousand fonts somehow took control of webpages, and changed their font to the downloaded font. I don't know which font it is, and it's influencing websites such as: Facebook, Twitter, and LADBible's comment section.

It doesn't do this to all websites, and the ones that are effected, aren't fully modifed, only part of the sites are.

I request help to revert the websites.

As a default, the new tabs screen should be blank, just like it always was.

I do not want a work around, or to have to mess with this.

I DO NOT want to see google, or any other product, showing up by default when i open a new tab.

This feels like the Microsoft strong arm tactics of the late 1990s. If I want to use google I will...BUT I DO NOT WANT IT FORCED ON ME!!! I trusted Firefox and allowed their updates and today they abused my trust by trying to shove products down my throat. I am furious.

Google seems to be the new evil empire, just like Microsoft used to be....

"MEET THE NEW BOSS, SAME AS THE OLD BOSS".

It looks like it is time to find a new browser, it looks like Firefox has sold out to Google, this is sad day.

I do not want a work around, I want new tabs and windows blank by default.

I hope this is fixed in the next day or so, otherwise I switch to the new browser my friend told me I should be using anyway.... JUST LIKE WHEN I LEFT INTERNET EXPLORER LONG AGO.... AND I NEVER LOOKED BACK and I have never opened IE again.

Please don't make me reboot my whole system and clean it all out.... I would rather stick with Firefox, but you need to fix this. I need to be able to trust you.

tl;dr How can I complain to FireFox about the new search bar in new tabs? (Or other new features)

I've seen a question or two here about this new feature already, and it's quite obvious that the developers at FireFox are not exactly interested in what their users think of this particular feature.

The feature I'm referring to is the new search bar in the New Tab.

I've attempted a fix mentioned in a previous post (create a sub-directory 'Chrome' and create a CSS file containing specific style commands) and it did not work. I've tried a couple of other fixes mentioned on third party websites as well, to no avail.

Knowing that FireFox would add something like this without allowing an option to disable it is quite disheartening. I've been enjoying my daily use of FireFox over other browsers I had used in the past because they were cluttered and unclean, and at the time FireFox was not. This search bar has ruined that. My pinned tabs have been squashed to roughly half their original size, and the search bar is unsightly, at best.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we already have a search bar at the top of the screen? I fail to see any purpose in this, except to annoy users. If there is a further purpose, please inform me (though to be completely honest, it will not change my opinion here, though it may soften the damage done)

As of yet, there have been very few features in FireFox that I have been displeased with, and each of them was shortly followed by an add-on to disable them (Or they had come with an option for disabling upon release)

I'm not here asking for help as to how to remove the search bar, I'm here asking for a link that I can use to directly inform the developers of FireFox of my opinions regarding this update.

On a third party site I read an article that claimed one of the developers made mention of an option for users to disable this search bar... According to the article, he never received a reply. That gets me thinking, if FireFox won't listen to it's own team, should we expect them to listen to us?

I'm quite close to simply leaving FireFox because of this feature, as now it's little better than what I've left behind in the past. PaleMoon was nice, though a bit slower.

I'm not saying that I'm going to stop using FireFox, only that I'm quite put off because of what I've read, and the lack of an option to disable this feature.

If such an option exists already, please give me instruction as to how to do so, and then kindly disregard this query.

As of today I seem to be having a strange issue with Firefox 31, I'm unsure as to when this problem began as I haven't developed on this project for around 2 weeks. I have a PHP Development server running on localhost port 8000 using the following command: "bin\php -S localhost:8000 -c php.ini" (without quotes)

Upon trying to connect to this server via Firefox I'm presented with "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1:8000." the message adjusts to show "localhost:8000" when connecting via that method, I've tried running Firefox in Safe Mode, reinstalling Firefox and also changing the network settings to "No Proxy" from "Using system proxy settings".

I'm able to connect through Chrome, IE and also by running a cURL command.

I've added extra pinned site rows and columns on the new tab page. The new search bar is redundant and space hogging. Please provide how to disable in step by step instructions :)

Edit: Answer 1. Go to Firefox Profile Folder (go to about:support in Firefox then click Open folder/Show in Finder to get there) 2. Open or create the chrome folder in the Firefox Profile Folder. 3. Create a blank text file, copy and paste this code into the text file.

I just upgraded to FF 31. Now when I choose a website from my history, instead of being taken to the website, I am taken to google search results. This is really frustrating. I saw an article about changing the search info in the config file, and I changed it, but I'm still getting the same result.

Almost every time I go to a new screen or website I get these pop-up advertisements that are very very annoying and are loud. I hate them. All the "help" I can find on your help pages does not address my problem and are a bunch of mumbo jumbo that Mozilla apparently put in there to confuse the issue even more. If I cannot get a satisfactory solution PDQ I am going back to IE11.

This morning I was able to access our plesk install for our server (I had previously confirmed the security exception after getting the warning) without problem. Then firefox updated to 31 and now it is giving me this error: Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to (**website**). Issuer certificate is invalid. (Error code: sec_error_ca_cert_invalid)

With no option to confirm any security exception. I am still able to access it through Chrome, but we all use firefox here (and would like to keep doing so). I checked on the computers that haven't updated yet and they were able to get in still, I updated one of them and now they are getting the same error, so it is a firefox issue with the new update.

Any help would be appreciated!

When I use the Customize feature to move the Bookmarks/Favorites icon into the Toolbar, all toolbar items compress to a drop-down menu on the far right of the Toolbar, and the address box expands to fill the entire Toolbar.

In 30.0, when I performed this same customization, I got a wonderfully convenient drop-down menu at the far left of the Tool bar for Bookmarks and Favorites.

How can I restore this drop-down in 31.0? I find the separate Bookmarks Toolbar awkward to use and wasteful of vertical screen space.
