Some web sites such as www.chron.com and www.pddnet.com create a new directory on the hard drive and write to it. This is absolutely unacceptable. After each internet session I delete them. It seems the Firefox developers would be concerned enough about security not to have allowed this "feature" or at least make the site ask permission to create the directory. Web sites should not have arbitrary write access. (Debian Linux 6.0).

Recently upgraded from Firefox 3.x to 15 (I know, but 4+ is terrible IMO). Anyway - I want to remove the favicons next to bookmarks in the bookmarks tab AND the toolbar and it doesn't seem to be possible. Currently they are all showing an empty dotted box instead of the icons themselves. It seems doing this fix for old versions (http://www.ghacks.net/2009/05/11/how-to-remove-favicons-in-firefox-bookmarks/) will remove the icon, and stop new ones from being added but will NOT remove this annoying box.

I looked into the .css fix but my .css files are completely blank for some reason. How can I remove all of these boxes completely without an addon?

When I try to go my Craigslist bookmarks I get redirected to http://clcache.info/?redir=frame&uid=clcache50562c7e231f38.32933284 Previously, the bookmarks worked fine.

Also, I tried going to a Craigslist city and pick on ANY of the categories but I also get redirected to the clcache address.

i've cleared cache to no avail.

A new toolbar has appeared at the bottom of the screen when BBC website. It links to footerroll.letssearch.com. Can't see anything in any of my add-ons, extensions or installed programs that could be causing it. There are a few other reports of this online as well but nothing yet on how to get rid of it.

I have a programm made in .NET. When it downloads a .eml file, this file is not opened in Firefox. Windows mail is opened and not the e-mail. With all other web-browsers this works correct.

I have certain app tabs set. In the last couple days whenever I close my browser window and then reopen it, my app tabs are no longer there. Why isn't firefox remembering my app tabs anymore? How can I fix this? I need my app tabs!!! Thanks so much for your help!

I want to save all of my Bookmarks to a portable storage device.

From Mozilli I got some info., but there is still some confusion. To start:I am told to click the "Bookmarks" button on the right side of the navigation tool bar. There is no "Bookmarks" button on my tool bar.
I have FF 15.0.1 and Win XP Home SP 3.

I am running Firefox 15.0.1 I have researched your articles and came to the place where it is suggested to drag the Icon for that function and drop it into the customize section of the Bookmarks Tool bar. When I drop it in there the icon shows, BUT the instant I close the palette the new added icon on the taskbar is gone.

I have customized the bookmarks managing quite extensively. That is why the option of resetting it makes me panic, specially that I have lost bookmarks more than a couple times while upgrading FF versions.

I have set 20 folders where I have sorted hundreds of bookmarks.

My add-ons are: - Adblock Plus 2.1.2 - DblClicker 1.6.1 - Flashblock 1.5.15.1 - Java Console 6.0.33 - LastPass 2.0.0 - Lazarus Form Recovery 2.3 - RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin 15.0.6 - Rights to Close 1.0.4 - Tab Preview 0.3 - Tab Navigator 1.1

I added this list cause of the comment i read in here that there may be some conflict which could be producing my current problem.

What would you suggest may be affecting my Bookmarks button? And more importantly how do I fix it?

I would appreciate knowledgeable contributions to help me solve my isssue

Please have a look at my site www.roosboum.nl and try ctrl- and ctrl+ to zoom. If you compare this with any version of IE or Chrome you'll find that since version 14 FF has stopped properly outlining the backgroundimage. Also I noticed in other pages, it sometimes works better if you add and remove(!) the searchbar with Ctrl F, that it's suddenly adapts to what it should have been in the first place. Also when using a vertical taskbar in windows, FF does not see this and a horizontal scrollbar is displayed which I find highly unworkable. I now have to zoom out to see the page with scrollbar :-(

I've seen these issues on three totally different pc's and can't resolve the issue cause it was working well for years! This is a major setback cause I always advertise for using FF and now my main site is no longer displayed well.

I'm not far away from going back to chrome which I can't emphasize enough is pure disapointment.

I recently downloaded some freeware and, without permission, it installed some malware by the name of My Start by Incredibar that hijacked the home page, new tab page, default search engine, and other functions in Firefox.

The removal of the program itself was a simple task, as was disabling and uninstalling the addon it had installed in Firefox. I thought everything was back to normal, but when I went to open a new tab the My Start site appeared instead of the default blank page.

Will a reinstall without deleting user data solve this problem? I would rather not have to pull a full clean reinstall as I have a lot of addons with custom settings and logins.

In the bookmarks library I have the top folder "All bookmarks" which contains "Bookmarks Toolbar", Bookmarks Menu" and "Unsorted Bookmarks" .

Inside the "Unsorted Bookmarks" is a second folder called "All bookmarks" which contains the same 3 folders as above. opening the second "Unsorted Bookmarks" shows another 'All bookmarks' and it contains the same 3 folders, and so on

Deleting a bookmark from any folder results in it being deleted from all the others - so they are referring to the same location, not just copies. I have tried creating a new profile, exporting deleting and re-importing all bookmarks - but the problem persists.

Firefox is also hanging on me several times a day - which may be related.

I've noticed when I load the web site gasbuddy.com, it is not working properly. It does load, just not performing like it should. When I try using gasbuddy.com on explorer 9, it works fine. I've already tried working in safe mode and that didn't solve the problem with gasbudy.com. Any suggestions as to how to fix the problem? I did do some prior investigating, and I'm very cautious about removing my cookies. It seems when I do that procedure, I lose too much info on certain web sites----weather.com, weatherunderground, etc. Just not sure how to remove cookies to solve a problem with out causing other problems? My Imac is version 10.8 snow leopard. I tried to import bookmarks from Safari to Firefox but import data from another browser is greyed out, even though private browsing is turned off. I also created an .html file for my bookmarks no problem but when I import this file to firefox, no bookmarks appear. I checked the file in a plain text editor for any folded files but none existed. Can anyone help me solve this problem. It seems the easiest solution would be if the IMPORT DATA FROM ANOTHER BROWSER button was functional. thanks.

Firefox has become very slow. It takes long time to load any website.I have reinstalled FF but the problem remain. As a test I downloaded Chrome and it is much faster. But I like FF and would be very glad if you can help me fix this problem.

If I’m viewing a site like Craigslist and click on a new link, it opens that link on the same page and all is well. If I do a Google search and click on a link from that page, a NEW TAB opens to view that page. However, the back button is gray and won’t let me use it. I have to close the new tab in order to get back to my original search page.

I’ve read many posts on this for the last TWO HOURS and finally gave up. I don’t believe I have Mcafee or site advisor so I don’t think that’s the problem. But obviously I’m not smart enough to figure this out so maybe I do have it. ARG

I want my home page to open as Yahoo, if I set it as Yahoo it works for that session only. However when I restart my computer or end the internet session the home page automatically goes to Google. How can I set Mozilla to open up Yahoo every time?
