I play games with a couple of websites with Publisher's Clearing House. pchgames.com and pchlotto.com. They require a couple of plugins such as adobe reader and adobe flash. Now which of these plugins is causing firefox to crash I have no idea. Even with the latest version of firefox 13.0.1 it still crashes. The only way I can play games on both sites is through safemode which is such B.S. You people better have this looked at and get it fixed.

I updated to the latest versions of Firefox and Flash player. Since then I have had problems with videos in YouTube. However, there is a fix. This worked for me.

Open a video in Firefox from YouTube. Right click the video and there should be a popup. Notice that it mentions a HTML5 trial. This is the culprit. Down in the corner of this, there is a section that says something like 'remove me from the HTML5 trial'. Click this. It will then revert back to the original flash settings and the videos will run very well, just like they used to.

Hi.

Issue #1: FF (13.0.1) and all prior versions will not PASTE DATA (text AND other content) TO AOL desktop app 9.7 build 16.4343.30(or earlier) for Windows XP.(always reproducible). This causes the Firefox browser and/or the AOL app to become unresponsive. If Firefox is forced to close from the processes tab in task manager AOL will begin responding again.

Issue #2: FF (13.0.1) and all prior versions will not PASTE data (text and other content) TO MS Word 2003 (occurs SOMETIMES). If Firefox is forced to close from the processes tab in task manager MS Word will begin responding again.

Crash does NOT occur when data is copied FROM AOL or MS Word to the address bar of Firefox.

Crash does NOT occur when data is copied FROM Firefox TO Notepad or Chrome.

Crash does NOT occur when data is copied FROM Notepad or Chrome TO Firefox.

Makes no difference whether add-ons are disabled or enabled.

All add-ons are up-to-date.

I held off from upgrading from the last version that had (amongst other things) the tabs *below* the Bookmark Toolbar.

NOTE: I finally changed for *TWO* reasons: one sites like Google and Yahoo hounding me that my version of Firefox was brain dead and wouldn't let me do much, and once we hit v12 of Firefox I started getting 'crash, failure to close properly' notices every time I exited Firefox... like the last patch to what I was running added this harrasment.

Now I have my tabs under the menu bar (more convenient? no) The 'right click' menu "Open in Window' and 'Open in Tab' reversed (ever hear of Muscle Memory?) When I close the only open window - and it has multiple tabs - those tabs do *NOT* reopen when I restart firefox.

How about giving me a *choice* where my tabs go? I mean just because some other browser moved them and a couple of magazines went "oh my, that gets me sooo excited" you go and make the same stupid changes to a great product. Why oh why move stuff around that was working perfectly like the order of options on menus.

I really wish there was some survey performed before making these changes, at least giving every firefox user the chance to speak up. Instead now the browser I have stood by since the days of the Netscape suit I really feel I must abandon it as it's developers abandoned me for some crazed notions... and go t Safari.

One thing about Safari you never even bothered with.. when I open a new tab, I get my homepage.. not a blank page. It had privacy when browsing before Firefox along with many other things (at least you let me keep the tab bar open even if I have only one tab up... a minor victory for you.. *golf clap*).

Really this is like Microsoft blindly shoving their fantastic (not) ribbon toolbar down everyone's throat. A truly horrible idea that destroy a great program, and which sent me buying THREE addtional copies of Office 2003/XP just to have the serial numbers and installs.

I am using version 13.0.1. The page below has instructions on how to reset Firefox. http://blog.mozilla.org/theden/2012/06/13/resetfirefox/

It says to go to "Troubleshooting Information" under the Help menu and that there will be a button to push called "Reset Firefox." But when I go to the Troubleshooting Information page there is no Reset Firefox button. I tried it on a few different computers and it is always the same.

Do you know where I can find it?

Since I upgraded to Firefox 13 for mac, Firefox asks my permission to access confidential information in my keychain. It does it everytime I start firefox even though I click "Always Allow" each time. This did not happen with the older version. By the way, the exact message reads, "Firefox wants to use your confidential information stored in “lpsafari” in your keychain. Do you want to allow access to this item?" Is there some way to get Firefox to stop asking?

Specifically, the problem is this. When using a Flash player (audio or video) on any web page, while doing activity in another tab or window on the same browser, the sound or video stutters and chops up. Like, just mousing over links in a webpage will cause the sound to jump and stutter in time with the mouse actions. Happens with embedded audio players and video players alike. Really annoying. I reverted to an older Flash version a couple weeks ago and that fixed the issue.

I also posted about this in the Adobe Flash forum, since the problem arose when updating to the latest Flash Player version. I suppose the problem is more on the Flash end than in Firefox... though the new Flash update works well in Chrome and Safari and IE.

As someone who deals with video media on the web quite often, this handicap inherent in Firefox is a fairly big and ridiculously obvious problem. When, if ever, will it be resolved? If Firefox wasn't such a popularly used browser, this issue wouldn't be as much of a concern, but people are using Firefox quite a bit on-line. It seems very strange to me that this otherwise excellent browser from Mozilla can't play back a simple MP4 file in HTML 5.

"Firefox doesn't support MP4 and 3GP due to their patent-encumbered nature."

Is there a way of resolving that at any point? If not, is there a reliable format that I should switch to instead of MP4, like Flash? I'm aware that there are plugins available to make Firefox "see" MP4 files, but asking customers to download and install a plugin is not really a professional solution. Please advise! Thank you.

I've downloaded it from this website (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1022066) and went through the install process, however it does not show up in my Plugins. Any ideas to get it to work?

Ok, I was basically still working the adobe flash player issue, and I stumbled across some speed test info. So I decided to play Firefox 13.0.1 off against IE9. Same PC, procedure, start Firefox, run speed test, shut down Firefox, open IE9, run test again at same site, same PC, same internet connection, yada yada. This blew me away, and I tested on 2 sites, speedtest.org and speedtest.net. Oh yeah, using Charter cable internet, Charter cable modem, direct wire connection to router on this PC.

Results: IE9 - download 52.7Mbps, upload 3.6Mbps; Firefox 13.0.1 - download 1.6 Mbps, upload 2.1 Mbps !!!! Geeze, what is up with this thing???!!!! And it's repeatable, over and over and over. No wonder video via Firefox sucks! (pardon the expletive)

I'm just a simple 65 year old, I just want stuff to work, and this just seems ludicrous, almost like it can't be true, but the 2 speed test sites compare closely to each other, with both browsers under test.

In addition, video via IE9 is super, regardless of source, my Netflix "experience" via PS3 is superb, and also VUDU via my Mits, which pegs it's speedtest.

My only conclusion is there is something wrong with Firefox, at the core, and it seems to me to be with this version, I just don't remember this stuff before.

maybe more of a gripe than a question, but I want the bookmarks folders to be regular windows folders. they are impossible to work with as it is, and my bookmarks list is 5 feet tall, and the only bookmarks I ever really bother using is 'recently bookmarked' because it is impossible to sort anything in a 5 foot tall column, and with a tiny little skinny scroll bar at that. I think in many ways this is a superior program, but surely not in this way. Is there any way I can make them windows folders? Even just to organize them and put them back? I once exported everything to internet explorer, and did it and then exported it back, but that is a horrible chore too

I am running an automated task to visit known (friendly) websites on a cron job (in Linux). It is absolutely essential that firefox NOT pop ANY unwanted dialogs, as this brings the whole thing to a grinding halt.

I have switched off ALL updates using the edit/preferences dialog, and additionally switched off a number other such obnoxious-looking things using about:config.

Yet it still insists on popping a window that says "Select Your Add-ons." I don't know why, since I have never seen it before. I have a screen shot of the unwanted dialog, but don't see any way to upload it as part of this question.

To standard out, it sends this:

      • LOG addons.manager: Application has been upgraded
      • LOG addons.xpi: startup
      • LOG addons.xpi: checkForChanges
      • LOG addons.xpi-utils: Opening database
      • LOG addons.xpi-utils: Migrating data from schema 12
      • LOG addons.xpi-utils: Opening database
      • LOG addons.xpi-utils: Creating database schema

. . . and so on.

I search for some of these things (e.g. addons.manager) in about:config, but in vain.

How did it decide the "Application" has been upgraded? I have ALL UPDATES TURNED OFF!!!

How can I get it to stop, and never EVER try to update or pop any unwanted dialogs?

Thanks,
