Above you mention portable, are you using a portable Firefox version? To update, it's just a matter of extracting the executable and replacing the contents of the portable folder.

What differentiates the "portable"method, that I've been using as my method for years without an incident, up until recent recent Firefox releases? The only thing I do when there's an update is replace the contents of the install folder, the same folder that the profile manager is pointing to, with the contents of the extracted executable,

I just realized the existence of this folder in about:support "Update Folder: C:\ProgramData\Mozilla-1de4eec8-1241-4177-a864-e594e8d1fb38\updates\C47CD37E750B0BD0. I tried to delete it. It recreated itself, changed my settins to "Update Autoimatically" and wiped out my entire session.

The contents of it's update-config.json file are the following. Would changing these values to "false" do any good? Or perhaps altering the contents of updates.xml in the same folder

I do have a "Profile" folder at C:\Users\mr\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles. The two entries are from 2019. One is empty, ans these are the contents of the other

Now to the problem: Various pages have no favicon in Firefox when I drag them into the bookmark bar as a bookmark. However, when the page is active in the tab, a favicon is visible there.

The problem does not seem to be unique to me. Several people have tested it. It also seems to be a problem in Firefox only. In other browsers, this problem does not occur.

What can website owners do to fix this problem?

I have done every single thing including reinstalling Firefox. The Youtube videos will not buffer in my Firefox browser in ANY mode, safe, troubleshooting, etc. I got it to start after reinstalling then about a minute into the video it started buffering again. I can watch vids in ANY other browser, and am connected by ethernet to my router.

Hi, I have a disaster situation. I backed up my profile and then I wiped my computer running Ubuntu 20.04. I replaced it with Ubuntu 24.04. Now my profile seems to not be compatible with the Firefox installation on Ubuntu 24.04.

I put my old profile in the ~/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla/firefox/ folder and I set the correct values in profiles.ini. But sadly when I start Firefox all my passwords, extensions and history are not there. I lost everything.

I'm super desperate. Please tell me I can fix this somehow. Why is the official documentation lying?

I'm using 128.0.3 (64-bit) for Windows, on Windows 10.

1. I open Firefox normal window. It has some pinned tabs. 2. I open an additional private window 3. I close the normal Firefox window. Only the private window remains 4. I close also the private window 5. I restart Firefox normal window. The pinned tabs have disappeared.

Twitch, Youtube Live, Netflix, Kick... it seems any live streaming platform cannot play. I am running Linux Mint 21.3, Kernel 5.15.0. They work on a different browsers, they all also work on Firefox my laptop, which is also on the same OS and Kernel.

I have tried everything: installed ffmpeg, installed unrestricted ubuntu codecs, refreshed firefox (twice), uninstalled/reinstalled firefox, ive tried without extensions, yet nothing.

Cant for the life of me figure it out, im not sure if its my PC or Firefox on this machine.

I've been experiencing a rather "unusual" issue: My Firefox up until version 116.0b8 worked perfectly fine; however, after any updates to versions beyond that, it stopped working.

I've tried the final versions and the betas, but nothing works. I attempted reinstallation and everything else, but I couldn't solve the mystery and remain stuck on version 116.0 beta 8.

What's happening? Every time I try to load a page on any version above 116.0, it either doesn't open or keeps loading in a loop. Yet, if I use another browser or revert to version 116, everything works correctly. This issue does not occurs in others machines.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

I can't get firefox to play amazon music web page or netflix because it claims to be installing an app which it never completes. I've tried to purge cache for the site in question, to no avail. What is the solution?

I know it may sound a bit strange, but I would like to know WHY an extension is not allowed in a private window, so I might understand the reason why I'm not able to diagnose an issue I'm having with fucking amazon who has their cart all over the place for a misconfiguration in firefox that either I did or an extension is causing, however I'm unable to figure out which because I can't enable extensions in private windows, where the issue does not happen, so I'm not able to reproduce and isolate the problem. I was wonder when the next browser update may be come as I would like to watch YouTube on Firefox again. As it has been over a month since the last update that made it so YouTube doesn't load the video anymore. (I have tried every suggestion online to correct this and nothing)

In Gmail, I repeatedly get "oops the system encountered a problem (#001)." Every other site works and Gmail works in other browsers. I haven't had any new add-ons or made any changes to Firefox (other than Firefox updates) in years. Does anyone know the fix?
