In a previous version of firefox, I could right click within a text area for example, which would allow me to check my spelling. Since upgrading (which was actually from a higher Beta version, to the latest current stable - a new profile was created), I had not had this option. As you can appreciate, it's a very handy tool to have, so I have been attempting to get this function back today.

Within my language section, initially there was only 'English [GB]', which was as it should be. I had 'check spelling as I type' checked also. This did not automatically check as I typed. It did not check at all, not could i right-click to check spelling.

I have since added 'English [US]' to see if this would then allow me to remove and reinstate 'English [GB]', but it did not. I then added a third option which was 'English [CA]'. The config allows me to remove only 'English [CA]', which when pressed removes it from the list, but by pressing the 'set alternatives' button again, you can see that it has returned.

I have since managed to get firefox to check spelling in English [GB] by adding 'British English Dictionary (GB)' (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/british-english-dictionary-gb/), but now I am also stuck with English US and English CA. EN-US does not allow it to be removed whatsoever, even though it was only there after I manually added it and EN-CA allows me to remove, but returns. No option to apply and restart firefox appears (I've seen this appear in another user youtube video on the subject). Closing and opening makes no difference.

How can I removed English US and English CA please?

i have a login to Harris county /toll Road Authority. A few weeks ago, it quit loading. When I click the bookmark, the tab shows motion, but after that, only a blank screen. I have tried the same web site on MS Edge, and it loads without a problem. Tried settings change to no proxy, adding the login to exceptions - no change, it still loads a blank screen. What is going on?

disable pop=up sign-in with google prompt LAPTOP WINDOWS 11 FIREFOX 105.0.3 64-BIT 1. Over the last few days I have been getting a sign in with Google prompt on most websites I visit. Please refer to the photos. This looks identical to the Google generated promt, however in my Google account settings I have this option turned off. Is this a Google bug or a Firefox thing? With all the other annoying popups these days, this is just another irritation frustration to view a website.

HAVE DELETED TONS OF UNKNOWN FILES IN MY USER FOLDERS TODAY, NOTHING HELPED (LOCAL/GOOG FOLDER & TEMP FOLDERS). MAYBE I NEED TO RESET SOMETHING IN CONFIG OR A REGEDIT SETTING FOR FIREFOX. I'm confused about sync when it comes to sessions. Sessions is not one of the options.

A few days ago, I open Firefox and my profile was broken. Nothing worked in the way of toolbar addon buttons, contest menus, etc. I narrowed the problem down to the session store files.

The session was still present. I could scroll thru it, and select tabs, but hat was about it. Fortunately I was able to get things back working again in a fresh profile, but it was a tricky exercise.

My desktop sessions sync with my phone. Is the re a way to perhaps sync sessions, and do it recursively so you don't get a mess with duplicates and discarded tabs?

I used to to use Tab Session Manager until a couple years ago when it began destroying sessions, and there was no way to retrieve them. Even the supposedly repaired version couldn't reverse the process. Had something to do with the sessionstore-backups folder, so I don't know if I can trust it now.

i want to be asked about every download where it going to be saved and even though i changed the settings long time a go the downloads go straight to the default folder

Linux Since the last 'automatic' update, Firefox hangs when started, but doesn't show any GUI.

Many experiments later, I can report the following progress:

- I started firefox from the command-line, hoping to see some output (no luck there), and eliminating problems with the window manager launcher (XFCE) - Firefox launches, but in triplicate: 3 instances are running (of firefox, _not_ firefox-bin) - There is no console output. - Running inside gdb shows threads entering and exiting, no errors. On ^C, there's just a message about exiting the current thread. - If I kill two of the instances, the GUI appears, so it seems they are blocking each other - I wanted to trace the startup sequence, so I did `strace ./firefox 2> log` and behold, firefox started! This is why I am reporting this on the actual started firefox. - Which makes me suspect a 'race condition' - surely the strace is slowing things down, allowing one instance to create the GUI. Some code which is not lock-protected?

I'm afraid this could happen again in next session, which is why I report this first, before trying to restart FF.

I installed this version of Firefox from the repository and I can no longer play back video. I have done a number of things to try to get the video playback to work again, however the bug persists. What I've done:

• Reset Firefox
• Disabled Hardware Acceleration
• Disabled Any and ALL Plug-Ins
• Uninstalled and Re-Installed the Browser
• Switched between kernels
• Ensured that Pipewire is functioning properly
• Ensured that my hardware is functioning properly

I've done some other smaller things in my system to try to get this back, but as it appears, this bug still persists even after a delay in dropping the new version.

when hovering over buttons in certain extensions and in the firefox menu, flickers occur, sometimes crashing the compositor if it doesn't have mitigations. tested in Hyprland from the AUR package https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/hyprland-git

I need to know how to stop firefox from automatically downloading every PDF file I look at. I’ve tried all of the suggested fixes on Mozilla and various other sites to no avail. None of them work. I’ve tried the following:

Going into settings, downloads, and checking “Always ask you where to save files.” Didn’t work.

Going into settings, applications, and under PDF, choosing “always ask.” Didn’t work.

Going into settings, applications, and under PDF, choosing “open in firefox.” Didn’t work.

Going into about:config and changing browser.download.alwaysOpenPanel from true to false. Didn’t work

None of these fixes stopped firefox from automatically downloading pdf files. I can’t just click on a pdf file to look at it without firefox downloading it.

I’m at wit’s end. My recylcle bin is full of unwanted pdf files.

Please give me a solution that actually works. My version is 105.0.3.

You can see the context menu in the photo, I would want to hide the pin tabs button so I could stop clicking it on accident. Pinned aren't a feature I use nor find useful anyway.

I have 2 yahoo email accounts. 1 on Chrome & "block Spam" works but on FF it does not. The same fake emails keep coming back and I can't add a screenshot to this.

Please give this old lady a baby step by baby step way to fix this java void thing? Like I said, I'm not tech savvy but I can usually follow clear instructions. It just showed up yesterday and I don't think I've added anything to the computer to make this happen. But it's really frustrating. I do appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you.

I really really really hate firefox automatically downloading files without asking me. I just have to go and delete them all later which is a pain. How do I stop it from doing this? I can't find a way to do this. I have changed pdf setting to open in firefox but I cannot stop the download. Help. This is driving me crazy (or to another browser)

I hope someone can help! My Firefox account was hacked as was the email connected to it. I currently have no access to the primary email. I thought I added a secondary email, but I never got a password reset email so maybe I didn't. In any event, how can I contact Firefox to lock the account? I have a lot of sensitive information saved and I need that to be locked or better yet, erased.

HELP!!

P.S. - This refers to a different Firefox account than the one I am currently signed in with

I'd like to hide the Bar with URL addresses but guides I've seen (for example https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1331743 ) don't work for me because I don't have Mozilla folder at Appdata folder.
