Linux Since the last 'automatic' update, Firefox hangs when started, but doesn't show any GUI.

Many experiments later, I can report the following progress:

- I started firefox from the command-line, hoping to see some output (no luck there), and eliminating problems with the window manager launcher (XFCE) - Firefox launches, but in triplicate: 3 instances are running (of firefox, _not_ firefox-bin) - There is no console output. - Running inside gdb shows threads entering and exiting, no errors. On ^C, there's just a message about exiting the current thread. - If I kill two of the instances, the GUI appears, so it seems they are blocking each other - I wanted to trace the startup sequence, so I did `strace ./firefox 2> log` and behold, firefox started! This is why I am reporting this on the actual started firefox. - Which makes me suspect a 'race condition' - surely the strace is slowing things down, allowing one instance to create the GUI. Some code which is not lock-protected?

I'm afraid this could happen again in next session, which is why I report this first, before trying to restart FF.

Hi, Since the latest update of my Firefox browser to 105.0.1 (64 bit) on my Mac with operating system 10.13.6 I'm getting messages as the enclosed picture. It appears on upper right corner when I open Firefox. It comes with a sound signal. It appears many times in one hour. How to get rid of that problem? I have another application, from Sophos, to protect from viruses and other attacs. Sophos say that there are no problems. My Mac is clean. Possible to sort out the problem, please?

The message in Swedish translated to English: "McAfee: Firewall crashes via musicinmysoul.biz TROJAN-virus detected. Click here..." McAfee is not installed in my Mac...

Just lately I have been finding that, for a few websites, they are unusable because the screen looks extremely blurred. I have attached a screenshot. Compare this with what you see at ba.com.

I am wondering if this is caused by a new secure feature of FF which is incompatible with these few sites. Really, any suggestions would be welcome. Otherwise I have to use Edge..

I just downloaded the latest firefox installer and ran it, after the installation was completed i was asked by my firewall programm if setup.exe should be allowed or denied network acess. I found it's located here: C:\users\user\appdata\local\temp\7zsc6e8770c\setup.exe Now what is this and what does it do? What happens if i grant it network access, what data does it send to Mozilla and why?

I want to use this opportunity to also ask about defaultuseragent.exe, why does it even exist? What data does it send to mozilla, what does it do exactly?

disable pop=up sign-in with google prompt LAPTOP WINDOWS 11 FIREFOX 105.0.3 64-BIT 1. Over the last few days I have been getting a sign in with Google prompt on most websites I visit. Please refer to the photos. This looks identical to the Google generated promt, however in my Google account settings I have this option turned off. Is this a Google bug or a Firefox thing? With all the other annoying popups these days, this is just another irritation frustration to view a website.

I USE DEV TOOLS from FIREFOX TOOLS TO FIGURE OUT IF IT'S FIREFOX OR GOOGLE CAUSING ISSUE. HERE IS ONE OF 50 LINES RELATING TO GOOGLE/TWITTER/FIREFOX CONVERGENCE

(ALSO, I USE UBLOCK & LASTPASS)

LINE FROM DEVELOPER CONSOLE WHEN I OPEN TAB TO TWITTER LOG-ON PAGE:

20:36:03.881 Google Analytics and Tag Manager is being shimmed by Firefox. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1713687 for details. sandbox eval code:1:9

I DON'T WANT TO CLOSE THIS POP-UP BUTTON EVERYTIME I GO TO LOG IN AT TWITTER, IT'S NEW. I HATE IT. HAVE DELETED TONS OF UNKNOWN FILES IN MY USER FOLDERS TODAY, NOTHING HELPED (LOCAL/GOOG FOLDER & TEMP FOLDERS). MAYBE I NEED TO RESET SOMETHING IN CONFIG OR A REGEDIT SETTING FOR FIREFOX. I'LL DO ANYTHING. Thanks!

I'm confused about sync when it comes to sessions. Sessions is not one of the options.

A few days ago, I open Firefox and my profile was broken. Nothing worked in the way of toolbar addon buttons, contest menus, etc. I narrowed the problem down to the session store files.

The session was still present. I could scroll thru it, and select tabs, but hat was about it. Fortunately I was able to get things back working again in a fresh profile, but it was a tricky exercise.

My desktop sessions sync with my phone. Is the re a way to perhaps sync sessions, and do it recursively so you don't get a mess with duplicates and discarded tabs?

I used to to use Tab Session Manager until a couple years ago when it began destroying sessions, and there was no way to retrieve them. Even the supposedly repaired version couldn't reverse the process. Had something to do with the sessionstore-backups folder, so I don't know if I can trust it now.

Hi, I tried to update my Firefox Accounts secondary email, but I got the error message This email was already confirmed by another user." That does not seem likely, as no one else has access to my secondary email account. Obviously, there's something I don't grasp here. How do I fix this?

I'm signed in on desktop and phone (they are synced), but I forgot my password, and I don't have a recovery key. I want to reset the password to avoid losing data, just to prevent. If I back up my desktop profile, then reset my password, will this backup be enough to recover all my data? Or is there something that it's stored just online/on cloud by firefox that won't be recovered?

I downloaded upgrade Firefox. I clicked replace. The new version was not compatible with my operative system. I then uninstalled Firefox with Clean my Mac. Too fast.

Now I have upgraded my operative system and have the newest Firefox. It works but I have lost all my bookmarks, website history, data, cookies - everything that makes it easy. Biggest problem is some lost passwords that only my old Firefox remembers..

Is it possible to restore this somehow? Please say yes and describe me how!

I have a tracking app on macOS Monterey that is following me around

On Firefox settings I came cross some locations where I see Google Chrome like on page info about:home or Application Basics: Google Location Service Key and Google Safe browning Key. Also, on a link called Survey where there is Google forms to fill out. I don't use Google Chrome because of the issues Google Chrome creates when I go on my the websites. Why are these Google things in Firefox and is there a way to remove them?

I need Firefox_ESR 52.9 which is the last release that supports an add-on I need for a standalone application (i.e NO INTERNET) to run on 32bit and 64bit Debian Bullseye Raspberry Pi. I don't know if it can be done but I want to try and see if I can build it. I downloaded the source. I'd like to consult with documentation first but the README.txt file points to two pages that don't exist anymore: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Mozilla_Source_Code_Directory_Structure http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Build_Documentation

If anyone can provide me with the documentation from their way-back machine and/or assist me, I'd be very appreciative.

The application needs the original mkiosk add-on (not the current one) and this is the last Firefox revision to support it. The application is something I provided to our museum and I wrote the hundred+ web pages for it but it was written for wheezy, not bullseye and I want to run it on an RPI4 instead. I donated hundreds of hours of work as well as all the hardware (including a touchscreen monitor) to the museum. I have no intention of otherwise using the application except for similar projects or selling it for any reason whatsoever.

Actually, what would be more wonderful if someone had ported that mkiosk version to current Firefox. It has some unique features.

All my work on this, and other applications I have written, have been freely donated and, at my age, I don't intend to change that policy.

Although I allowed google ads (shown in "Not Blocking Tracking Content" list), they are still blocked. Is there a way to fix this? This problem appears on two sites (https://www.agame.com/game/tropical-merge, https://www.games.gr/paixnidia/the-mergest-kingdom) only. Other sites work as they supposed to. ABP is disabled. If I turn Enhanced Protection off, I can see google ads, but I lose any progress I have in these games. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm on FF Beta v105.0b6, and a recent upgrade (I'm guessing from 104 to 105) has caused popup windows to be ghosted when saving files, leaving only the file selector field visible and floating above the main window, often indistinguishable from the text below it. I've been able to work around this by temporarily jumping to another screen or window and then back to find the complete popup window magically revealed.

I've attached two clips from windows a see after clicking Download link on the https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ page. This ghost behavior also happens on pages where I right-click context to "save as" or click download link for TXT, PDF, PKG or other types of files.

This doesn't seem to be a popup blocking issue, since my FF is not configured to block these specific sites and the popup is minimally visible. Also, the temporary workaround of simply switching my view away and back points more to a page rendering issue.

I'd appreciate any ideas on resolving or preventing this behavior. If these clues point to a bug, I hope they help resolve the issue.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I need to know how to stop firefox from automatically downloading every PDF file I look at. I’ve tried all of the suggested fixes on Mozilla and various other sites to no avail. None of them work. I’ve tried the following:

Going into settings, downloads, and checking “Always ask you where to save files.” Didn’t work.

Going into settings, applications, and under PDF, choosing “always ask.” Didn’t work.

Going into settings, applications, and under PDF, choosing “open in firefox.” Didn’t work.

Going into about:config and changing browser.download.alwaysOpenPanel from true to false. Didn’t work

None of these fixes stopped firefox from automatically downloading pdf files. I can’t just click on a pdf file to look at it without firefox downloading it.

I’m at wit’s end. My recylcle bin is full of unwanted pdf files.

Please give me a solution that actually works. My version is 105.0.3.
