How to selectively block ANY slide-in, pop-in, or other nuisance that comes on screen, by choice, without causing items such as video not to run

There is a new kind of pop up nuisance. The slide or fade in. Some are set to mouse movement, others are timed. Need to be able to selectively block these - my choice of which - without sites becoming useless.
Tried NoScript but too complex and there is no succinct documentation from the producer. Tried AdBlocker but it does not work on most of these kinds of popups and the company is not about working with users to block these from many sites, suggesting the sites have paid AdBlock not to block their trash. Looked at other "solutions" but many are expensive and don't promise specifically to block these kinds of nuisances.
One of the main sites with these nuisances is CNN. Their pop-ins keep coming back even when you X them off. Some are on EVERY page, like the cookie agreement, while others are timed and block your reading altogether. You can't move your mouse in certain places on the page without something sliding in or popping up. There are pop-ins when one reaches the end of a page, gets near the edges. They are ALL intrusive! What this does is turn one off to what the ad is there to push. Lot of people have long been fed up with nags after the refusal to follow an ad. When a user says no, that needs to be it. There should be no further question.
Too many sites use this nuisance advertising, many of them because there is little to no way to block them. The internet is built on forced advertising. This needs to stop. If a product is worth its salt, it will sell without being pushed in a customer's face. If a customer says NO once, that should be enough. No site should be able to block access because of a user refusing to submit to some ad.

Since I'm sharing all bookmarks between my firefox for desktop and firefox in my android smartphone, I use to take all my bookmarks in the menu bar of my firefox for desktop, then accessing bookmarks from firefox in the smartphone by selecting "desktop pc bookmarks" > "bookmarks menubar" > ... What I don't like at all is firefox always opening bookmarks selection menu in its "root" folder, so that I always have to navigate the bookmarks selection menu to go to the last used bookmarks folder. I suggest firefox for android to retain last selected bookmarks folder, like chrome does! (much smarter behavior)

Lots of sensitive stuff in places.sqlite file.
%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*|places.sqlite
It stores favorite icons, input history, keywords, and browsing history (a record of visited pages). I like to wipe this file since it holds lots of sensitive data, but deleting this file will also delete the bookmarks. I think bookmarks should be stored in a separate file.

This is for the mozilla firefox developers: I wonder why firefox is getting less and less customizable by default as it was in earlier days. Now with Firefox 65 again you repeadedly change a lot so we have to look around for new tuning tips again, that is no fun!
Please, implement a customize option to get the Tabs bar on Bottom (under the bookmarks toolbar) without having to tune the chrome.css, also tab height and width should be customizable for everyone. For all users. Also the functions how tabs and links open is too less so we always have to install addons or tune about:config if possible. Like: - New tabs from all entries url bar, searchbar, bookmarks - open tab (also new ones) next to current
Firefox should be different from chrome and other browsers and should give the user more options to customize. Thanks Claudy
Thanks

When viewing a picture in Firefox, it used to display the picture itself as a bookmark/favicon in its tab. That was super useful for anyone working with multiple tabs of pictures. But it stopped working somewhere between versions 62 and 63. Now it won't show anything or, at best, just the website's favicon if it's an online picture (please refer to the attached picture). How can I get that feature working again?
Note: "browser.chrome.favicons" doesn't exist in "about:config" in current version. So I guess solutions involving it won't work.

Using POST as http method is more secure than GET. Pretty much everyone can agree on that. I know that the search engine DuckDuckGo is having this option and you can configure it in their website (duckduckgo.com). Also Tor browser have built in option to use POST as a native method when searching from the address bar, and I think Firefox should add this as well. What do you guys think?

I want vertical tabs on the right and vertical bookmarks on the left ALL THE TIME. LEFT and RIGHT are important here, and should not be disregarded. It was perfect back in firefox 4x, but then something happened. I have something like 700 bookmarks, and it takes forever for them to load from the 'bookmarks' button. I export them to html, which file I use as a home page, but the vertical list on the left is better.

Was using Lubuntu for years on old hardware, then OS got corrupted. Chgd Distro to "AntiX" which worked for a few weeks, then FF quit loading Tags (blue dot just goes back & forth but no load). Bought a new computer meantime but would like to keep old stuff running and most of all clean out the anti-captialist propaganda garbage than landed in my FF synch account, including loops. An add-in that kills loops and moves all bookmarks to the bookmarks bar would be helpful. Presumably it was 'AntiX' that put the propaganda in my FF bookmarks, but bookmarks, if a directed graph, seems susceptible to loops and should have defenses against loops so once garbage like Anti-X's gets in, it can be cleaned out. Cryptically, my FF account asked me today to verify my home country (!) -- which I did (USA). Help appreciated, but if too much trouble would like Synch account destroyed so I can start a new one with same email. Also years and years and years ago I had an early Synch account with the same email address, so if it's calusing trouble, it can all be wiped out. Having to write this from some other browser on a new computer. Thanks!

Firefox uses a Master password to protect Certificates stored in Firefox's separate-from-Windows Certificate store. UNlike the (more security-flexibly configurable) Windows Certificate store, Firefox either doesn't protect certificates at all (no Master password) or only 'protects' the whole of the imported certificates by requiring a Master Password (wrongly prompted right at Firefox start time) for the whole of a LastPass user session. In short, if Firefox is running, the certificates (and other things 'protected' by the Firefox Master password) are not well protected.
In contrast, Certificates stored in the Windows Certificate store may be individually configured with various levels of security (no password, prompt on each use, or prompt-with-certificate-specific-password on each use).
Firefox must offer equally flexible security levels for Certificates.

I am losing all of my new bookmarks with no crash. I usually save all of mine to folders on the Bookmarks Toolbar. I lost individual links and sub-folders containing links under multiple folders on this toolbar. Unfortunately my last manual backup is about a week ago. All of those bookmarks from the backup are still there.
I wish Mozilla would at least create an "automatic" bookmark backup feature if this is going to happen.

I sure would! If I could volunteer in any way to make this happen by January 31st, 2021, that would be great! I'd love it to look modern for the next several versions of Firefox for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Same is true for Fenix for Android. I, for one, am very compassionate about the active development of both those web browsers. One way the Awesome Bar can be changed for the better is to put more emphasis on webpages we've tagged in our Firefox bookmarks. I always add tags to any webpage that has important information like https://www.visitmaryland.org/list/great-maryland-beaches.

In Chrome if I want to do either of the following:
1. Click link on a page using Ctrl+Left mouse click or 2. Click a bookmark using ctrl+left mouse click
The link opens in a background tab without leaving the page I am on or closing the bookmark menu.
This does not happen in FF and no key combinations I have researched or tried will duplicate this action which Chrome allows.
Since going back to FF it is hands down the best browser there is - however I am finding my inability to open the tabs in the background like I could in Chrome to be frustrating.
Any help to achieve this would be great.
I am using WIn10 FF 6301 (64)
Thanks in advance.

Whenever i create an account anywhere, i use an email address with a tag unique to the service appended to the end. For instance, the email address I used here is firstname.lastname+mozillasupport@gmail.com. I do this to be able to automatically put incoming emails in various buckets, and also to be able to mute emails from specific senders or see which services sell my address on to spam spewers.
In firefox monitor, this creates a problem, because as far as Firefox is concerned I use hundreds of different email addresses, whereas in reality they are all the same address just with different tags.
So I would be massively helped by the following feature: When you add an email address to Firefox Monitor, there is a checkbox that says "Include address variations". When adding the address firstname.lastname@gmail.com with the checkbox checked, any variation of that email address should also be considered added, e.g. firstname.lastname+dropbox@gmail.com firstname.lastname+netflix@gmail.com firstname.lastname+hbo@gmail.com
Bonus feature: Support for service specific quirks - the checkbox would also be aware of quirks various email providers have. E.g. for gmail addresses the dots are optional. So when adding the address firstname.lastname@gmail.com with the aforementioned checkbox checked, the address would also match firstnamelastname@gmail.com.

Despite incessant FF versions/updates and obvious complaints and demands from FF users, FF Quantum fails to provide FF users with simple settings for changing font/font style/font size of FF tabs/bookmarks/toolbars! Prior to Quantum FF57, the easy to use add-on Theme Font & Size Changer worked but yet despite FF user complaints, no Quantum version (now FF62!!!!!!!) integrates the accessibility features and functionality of such add-on. We need FF tabs in arial black font, e.g.! Inexcusable! Pisses us off! Time to switch browsers!
