we all need the full steps of how to transfer an old profile into a new profile so that we have two profiles

two profiles:

1. the current default one

2. and the old profile that has been transferred into the new profile

only comment with the steps very very clearly

---

old profile is firefox dev edition if that matters

good steps would have already included info on if that mattered or not anyway

old version:

could you please list the steps that are needed to create a new profile, and what folder in win10 would that profile be in?

a new profile in addition to the current one

for win10

i'd like to transfer/move a profile i had into the 'new profile' created

need the steps please

I never trust, download or install anything related to Russia or China, I don't want those spies get control of my PC. After many years of using FF, I just found something that shocked me: Baidu Search Update Extension What's this installed with FF installation? Note: I never run Firefox.setup.exe but just extract it using winrar, from "core\browser" remove "features" folder completely then install it. Where can I remove it from install source? Anything related to those Chinese search engines?

Just got a new computer, really excited, but heard that firefox changed and I don't like the firefoxes that I see in recent computers.

I'm still using an old windows xp computer, with firefox 28 I believe.

My new computer is a windows 8.1, and it has all the new bells and whistles. My current version of firefox on XP looks like this:

http://i.imgur.com/nnRjFFk.png

Basic, very simple, just the way I like it. I just want my add-ons and my bookmarks, with everything placed in exactly the same way as it is in that picture (a friend of mine's firefox actually has the home/refresh/stop buttons on the right, what the heck?)

Want to know what's the step by step actions I need to undertake to transfer my firefox as soon as possible and start using my new computer. Would appreciate the help thank you.

Hi.

In Firefox 63 the option to never check for updates was removed. The release notes suggest to create a policies.json to disable updates. This does not result in similar behaviour! It does indeed stop the checks for updates, but it also disables the option of manually checking for updates. So this is not the same!

I'd like to know how I can disable the auto checking for updates, but keep the option to manually check and update.

I found this thread regarding a beta version of Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1232918 but that does not give an answer to my question.

I typically check for updates every few days, but I do not want Firefox to check automatically and/or install without my express permission. I seem to be left with renaming the policies file every time I want to check for updates. Cumbersome and very user unfriendly.

I would like to get back to the behaviour I have used for many years. To wit: I click on 'About Firefox' and I can see the version number without any checks or updates starting without my consent. I am presented with a button to check for updates. If I click it, I am presented with either a message stating I am up to date, or an option to update without it automatically doing so. And only if I then click to confirm that I indeed want to update, it starts downloading said update and installing it. This is what I want back please. How do I make that happen? Thanks.

Just OK'ed the v20.0 push upgrade. Tried to download files as I had always done.

Was very surprised by the new interface and process. Frankly, it's a step backward and really leaves alot to be desired.

Is there anyway to change the config back to the download process/interface model of v19.x?

What can I do?

I couldn't connect to the internet. Received an error code 0xc0000142 "The application was unable to start correctly." After several tries I shut the computer down and rebooted. Same response. Firefox had been working fine earlier. Internet Explorer was working so I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled. When installation reached about 75% completion the same error code window popped up. My only options were "search for a fix" or "close program". I clicked "close the program" and installation resumed and appeared to be complete, but it's not working. Tried this several times. Once when the window popped up I had the option of seeing the details. They read: "App crash Maintenanceservice.exe version 49.0.0.6103 time stamp 57dc3758. I installed the Revo Uninstaller. I used that tool to uninstall Firefox and then reinstalled. No go. Security Essentionals updated & scanned. Firewall is set to allow Firefox to penetrate. Malwarebytes scan found nothing malicious. I installed MS Safety Scanner and it found nothing. I've had problems with Adobe Flashplayer in the past so I uninstalled that. Ditto for Javascript so I disabled it. Any suggestions?

Dear Mozilla: you have to realize that making the browser faster is worthless if you break extensions like TabMixPlus which provide critical *usability* features! Usability is always more important than performance. It's essentially a completely different browser without TabMixPlus. I might as well use Chrome. For example, I don't see how anyone can manage having tabs that scroll on one line. Instead of being excited about getting a performance boost, I'm now sad that I may one day have to give up how I've been interacting with a browser for 10+ years.

What you should have done is work with the developers of the most popular extensions to help them upgrade *before* releasing backwards-incompatible changes to Firefox. Or else roll in some of the critical features to Firefox itself.

I've downgraded to 56.0.2, we'll see how long I can keep that going.

we use FF as default browser for our web application (desktop), delivering it as default browser on the hardware we deliver and as the advised web browser for desktops.

The very annoying thing is that after updates to newest versions (it lately happened with update to FF 24) the page settings are not kept.

Instead they are back to the default values as if it was a new installation. We use the page settings to have clean prints. That is: without disturbing headers and footers and with margins to 0 (zero).

I 've been searching for a while why this happens and could find a solution. As customers are vigorously complaining now, we have to reconsider our browser policy.
