My Apple desktop crashes frequently in different applications (while in gmail, on Facebook, etc.) and it sends a report to Apple every time. It never does it if I use Safari. If I can reload Firefox to fix it please let me know how to do that. Thanks.

I downgraded to Firefox 140ESR yesterday to get rid of the silly circles and gradients. The update was so visually distracting I found the browser to be unusable. However, now almost any website I visit gives me a Gah your tab just crashed. Is there a way to fix this while staying on 140ESR? Please refrain from answering if your solution is to upgrade. Thanks.

Been happening for almost 2 months now and getting more frequent. What happens is FF opens normally , but reacts sluggishly. Many instances of "not responding". When I close the program , it takes several minutes to close. In Task Manager , it shows disk usage at 100% , CPU at as high as 50% , and memory at 4 gigs prior to crashing. This is on a Windows 11 Pro system with the latest updates and the latest FF.

Below are the 5 latest crash reports:

bp-334499b7-2a53-4f19-af94-cc82f0260928 bp-04a56a0a-6e85-42c0-ab03-024b80260927 bp-b0bc8d1f-0ec1-484f-bd49-aaf510260927 bp-68939250-e3c8-4bfe-9e2f-7dbcc0260926 bp-7895f7cf-32a8-48cf-a81b-f7b460260926

Recently I cannot use Paypal to process any online payment on Firefox without the browser crashing.

OS: Windows 11 25H2 Reproduction steps: a vendor would have a Paypal button. I would click on it and Firefox would open a pop-up window briefly before crashing.

The pop-up window is normal behaviour for how Paypal processing has worked on Firefox in the past. I have tried turning off potential content blockers: 3rd-party userscripts loading through ViolentMonkey, content blockers via AdNaseaum, and Enhanced Tracking Protection to no effect.

So, similar to this post but I haven't downgraded, only upgraded.

OS: Windows 11 (26100.8893) Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:153.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/153.0

I can load it up in the morning, load all my standard tabs, then not too long into it a tab will 'crash' and require a reload. The reload then says its a dramatic crash and the whole browser needs to restart. Soft or Hard (i.e. "Exit") restarts always then ask to create a new profile on startup. This means I lose so much configuration (settings, etc) that is not in the Account Sync, meaning huge amounts of time have been wasted setting Firefox back up again every day.

When I go to about:profiles I can see all the old and new profiles (recently cleaned up all the old ones).

I do use my FF Account across various versions of Firefox (run a linux OS that still has a 14x version - need to upgrade OS to get more recent, but its a significant upgrade that had previously failed so not high on my 'want to resolve' list) - all the Windows OS's have the latest FF.

Some pages keep crashing and need to be restored. Even if I open new tabs, once I get to them most of the time they have crashed and need to reloaded too. Even after reloading they will continue to crash. This after Firefox's latest update.

The Firefox Browser crashed three four times last week. Mozzila Support team after study, gave a comment that RAM capacity is Low( 4 GB in my case , laptop). Does it sound OK? Why it does not happen with Chrome or Microsoft One edge Browser? I asked this to Google Gemini. The answer is as given below: Yes, the Mozilla Support team’s explanation sounds entirely accurate.A capacity of 4 GB RAM is extremely low for a modern laptop running an operating system like Windows 10 or 11 alongside modern web applications. The operating system itself routinely consumes 2 GB to 2.5 GB of RAM just to keep your computer running, leaving very little leftover memory for heavy multitasking. Both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge use built-in "efficiency modes" and aggressive tab-sleeping algorithms. When your computer begins running out of RAM, Chrome and Edge will silently put inactive tabs to "sleep" to free up memory before the browser crashes. [1] (https://www.superchargebrowser.com/library/firefox-vs-chrome-ram-usage-2026/) Good Solutions to Fix the Crashes- 1. Software Adjustments (Free & Immediate)If you want to keep using Firefox smoothly on 4 GB of RAM, you need to minimize its memory footprint:Reduce Firefox's Content Process Limit: By default, Firefox uses multiple processes for performance. You can lower this to restrict its memory use:Type about:config in the Firefox address bar and press Enter.Accept the warning.Search for dom.ipc.processCount.Double-click it and change the value to 1 or 2. This forces Firefox to use fewer system resources. [1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox)Enable Memory Minimization: If the browser starts slowing down, type about:memory in the address bar and click the Minimize memory usage button under the Free memory section.Use a Tab Suspender Extension: Install a lightweight add-on like Auto Tab Discard from the Firefox Add-ons store. It mimics Chrome's behavior by automatically putting background tabs to sleep.Turn Off Hardware Acceleration: Sometimes, your computer's integrated graphics conflict with Firefox under low memory conditions. Go to Firefox Settings > type "hardware" in the search box > uncheck Use recommended performance settings > uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available. [1] (https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1pp9z79/firefox_using_massive_amounts_of_ram_and_slowing/), [2] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtXt_jw2tww). This Method I tried, but did not work-Firefox to use fewer system resources. Can you suggest how to reduce or minimize its memory footprint?

I mostly watch YouTube channels on Firefox on my laptop, but recently have had to change over to Microsoft Edge browser to watch YouTube. The reason is that during a channel stream, when an ad wants to play, YouTube and Firefox freeze and the only way to exit the screen is to either attempt to close YouTube or even open Task Manager to shut down all instances of the Firefox software. Firefox is by far my preferred browser and I'm frustrated that it is unusable in its current state. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, but this did not work. Thank you in advance for your help.

Immediately after I downloaded the latest update 153.0.1 for Firefox on the Mac, I noticed an issue with the Clear Recent History request. Whenever I select Clear Recent History (under History in the top bar menu), the popup box that opens always shows it is "calculating" the data, even if I only visited one website and closed it (or left it open). If the Clear button is active, I will click it and the box closes, but I never know if the history was cleared.

However, many times, the Clear button is grayed out while the "calculating" is in progress, and it freezes up the popup box. I cannot close it or click on any other part of the screen. It appears to freeze (crash) Firefox. My only option then is to quit Firefox and reopen it. When I do, the popup box is gone. But I still have no confirmation that the history has been deleted. But after visiting one or more websites that I want cleared of history (news sites, etc) the issue reappears again as soon as I select Clear Recent History.

I have a whitelist of many sites that I allow to store cookies and site data. But for all other sites, I routinely clear my history when I am done viewing them. This issue has never happened before, so I'm wondering if it is a bug in the latest 153.0.1 update. Before I downloaded the latest Firefox update, I checked to make sure it was compatible with my current version of Ventura 13.7.8 on a MBP 2022. And the clear history issue never appeared when I was on Firefox 152.0.6.

Attached is a screenshot of what the Clear Recent History popup looks like when "calculating"...

I have used Firefox since version 1.5 and have loved it and the community since. However, since finally scrapping Windows and switching completely to linux, Firefox has been frequently troublesome with random crashes. The crashes occur on any website I may be on and for seemingly no reason. It happens when I'm in the middle of browsing a page, just opened a new tab, or even when Firefox is simply open and I'm active on another open application.

Environment is as follows:

OS: Zorin OS 18 (Latest patches) (Based on Ubuntu) Mobo: Asus Crosshair VI Hero (Latest available BIOS) CPU: Ryzen 9 5900XT GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC Gaming (10GB) Ram: 8GBx4 G.Skill TridentZ RGB DDR4 (3200) Sys Drive: Samsung 970Evo M.2 Nvme 500GB

Firefox is installed via Flatpack through the built in app store in Zorin OS.

The crashes will sometimes be constant as well. Such as when it crashes, crash reporter comes up, then I click "Restart Firefox" and the second I see the window, it crashes again. This has been a constant problem though at random times ever since I switched back to Linux about 5 months ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to have to change my primary browser from one that I am generally so happy with, and is also the browser that I recommend to everyone.

When I try to manually delete all my browsing history from the browsing history icon, firefox locks up and nothing happens until I click my mouse button and I get the message box stating that Firefox is not responding and it gives me two choices, close the program or wait for firefox to respond-

Hello all, I have FF 152.0.6 in use on Fedora 43 xfce Qubes OS VMs. The only issue I have encountered is when I try to load the web UI for Proxmox Datacenter Manager. As soon as I log in to the web UI Firefox vanishes. I have tried this in troubleshooting mode with the same results. I can open the same web UI in a Debian 13 Qube and it works perfectly. The FF version there is v.140.13.0esr. These are simply the default versions that come with Qubes 4.3 templates. I can also access the web UI in the original Fedora Qube with Chromium browser with no crash. I have also tried a different Fedora qube with the same failure result as the original.

I can use Chromium but would prefer a streamlined experience with just one browser. I thank all of you in advance any thoughts or suggestions. I am a long time Firefox and Mozilla user.

Have a great day. SS

I finally found the solution! With help from my friends at Dell Computers, that is. The crash was due to the C: drive becoming overloaded with data. On advice, I purchased an USB portable hard drive and moved all the data not needed to be on the C:\ drive. It would be nice to have more than "common sense" to decide which files and folders are needed to run the computer nicely. If there is a book or manual that can list this for me, I'd buy it and check regularly. The computer now runs nearly like a new one and I'll be looking for a while before upgrading. Note that USB hard drives are relatively inexpensive, but need to be treated similar to the way most USB drives are (Don't just plug or unplug while the data is flowing). Storing unused files will pay off so that you don't get caught having to clean house at a very busy time. Enjoy...

Dozens of reboots every day due to video seizures only with Firefox. Tab crashes causes those I am ordered to support to LOSE WORK. After a tab crash and restore the FF interface is frozen -- no type of input from peripherals possible. This is all supposed to be solved by Monday. If I am out of luck with FF -- just tell me. That's very simple. New machines, new OS and it's worse than under the legacy systems we support after moving up from Win 7 Pro.

Question is all there is, why does Firefox 153.0 x64 CRASH COMPLETELY and Windows 11 x64 "App Crash Reporting" is automatically invoked, 3 out of 4 times a simple "History - Clear History - Clear Everything" function is implemented??

Thanks,

OH1943

Legacy Win 7 Pro machines were just upgraded (had no choice but to run them) and FF performance was fine with legacy laptops eight years old. The FF version was much older. With much faster machines and Win 10 running 152.x, now 153.0, there are chronic chokes with FF. Tab crashes. Videos NEVER loading, chronic rebooting etc. -- it just doesn't seem to ever end. But it's not my decision. However -- the shitte rolls downhill right into my lap because nobody else has the patience. Please do not suggest paid 'support' again, because I would get laughed at, given the chronic problems to date over a number of years.

Firefox v153 downloaded a day or 2 ago. Since when it freezes, cannot access internet, then crashes regularly. have to restart to get it working again. PC with windows 10. Despite windows settings showing internet connected, and other device connection fine. I've stopped the VPN plugin. Have submitted 3 crash reports just now bp-03b76eff-3e9d-4778-a790-7913d0260725 bp-f4ffd17f-b408-4b1a-a1ea-391190260725 bp-123c3ae2-1d94-4abb-a040-875720260725

It was freezing every few days before the update, but now it's 2-3 times a day.
