This question was probably asked before, but I guess it's important to keep asking so that the developers will realize that this is actually important.

I'm running a 64-bit Windows 7 for a few years now. I'm not sure if they even make 32-bit processors anymore. Any new PC you see advertised comes with Windows 8 64-bit. Both versions of Windows come with 64-bit IE. To be honest, the 32-bit IE is not only included, but is also default, but this is for the sake of backward compatibility. Opera is available in 64 bit, and so is Firefox, but only for Linux and Mac OS.

So where's the 64-bit Firefox for Windows? For years we've been hearing about plugins. Now, both Flash and Java are available in 64-bit. 64-bit Nightly works perfectly, I run it for years without any problem. Third-party builds also exist and work fine. So why not make an effort and promote the 64-bit Nightly higher up the production chain?

Sometimes we hear about "other priorities". But let's be honest here - what other priorities? I'm not sure why would I care about HTML5 - YouTube already works, and I don't see why should I care if it's in Flash or HTML5. Same about most other "cutting edge" features. I don't think I notice them. But I do notice that I have to run a 32-bit application on a 64-bit machine. Some people ask - what's the advantage of using 64-bit Firefox? I ask, why should I run a 32-bit application on a 64-bit machine? Just because it works? That's just not good enough.

So, enough with the excuses, just do it! That's what people are waiting for, not the "Firefox OS" (now why would I buy anything from a "proudly non-profit" company?)!

I'm not sure what I did to cause Firefox to do I GUESS a BACKUP. Since I now have a folder named "Old Firefox Data" what do I do with it? Do I need to somehow re-instate all that is in this folder back into my Firefox Browser? Or, do I need it at all? What am I missing here? No explanations, no guideance, no direction as to what to do or how to do it from Firefox or Mozilla. I can't even tell for sure IF I AM MISSING ANYTHING WITHIN MY WORKING FIREFOX BROWSER NOW THAT WAS SAVED IN THIS BACKUP orrrrrrrrrrr not? lescot lescot@sbcglobal.net

Firefox used to remember my bank password, but it does not any longer. After downloading the update to version 23.0.1 today, the remember password feature appeared broken.

I tried many things and eventually got passwords working on other sites, but not my bank. I deleted the saved password from the password manager in an attempt to try and get the Remember Password prompt to show up again, but it didn't work. I checked in Exceptions and it's completely empty, so that's not it. I also tried using the bookmarklet for fixing autocomplete on sites that it's disabled and my bank doesn't appear to disable it.

I've spent an hour and a half researching this and trying everything I could but I am at a loss. This computers main user is an elderly man so having the bank remember the password is a MUST.

So I am having exactly the same problem as this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/959280

In short, I updated firefox and now new tabs always open with a bing search. The url that keeps opening is: search.conduit.com/?ctid=CT3312375&octid=EB_ORIGINAL_CTID&SearchSource=69&CUI=&SSPV=EB_SSPV&Lay=1&UM=2&UP=SP634F83D9-5B86-4960-A131-4A6C35FD668C

I'm quite sure this isn't a problem with any add ons. I've disabled all that could possible affect it.

I've tried to use the suggestion of the top reply but in the about:config section I don't have a searchinnewtabeenabledbyuser preference name. I've looked at all the other "newtab" related preferences names and done what the original replier said (type false into the value section) but it hasn't worked! There's a preference name called browser.newtab.url with the url that is opening in each new tab as the "value" but every time I try to change it, it just reverts back to that url.

I would so appreciate if someone would help me. I hate Bing!!!! Even more so now that they've pulled this crap.

Have installed Java 7 update 45. Have both 32- and 64-bit versions installed from Oracle website.

Works in Chrome.

Firefox 24.0 displays error message stating that the Java plugin has known vulnerabilities.

On the support page there is a link to this explanation from January 2013 which regards Java 7 update 11. https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2013/01/11/protecting-users-against-java-vulnerability/

Does anyone have a permanent fix and preferably an explanation for this?

I know how to allow Java to run once as well as always on a specific site https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-enable-java-if-its-been-blocked

What I'm wondering is why Firefox still blocks Java per default when Java has been updated many times since the explanation was written.

Thanks a bunch!

Im trying to sync my desktop with a new laptop. Have followed instructions and entered 12 digits where requested having signed up for an account in advance.

After adding the 12 digits neither of them shows any sign of syncing. the next page asks for account details plus a Recovery Key. I've not found a Recovery Key and have spent some time looking at Support pages. The Sync tab on both shows pairing and syncing click-ons only - no manage account etc as indicated in support info.

be very grateful for somebody to talk me through this in a simple way. Many thanks in advance

Today, I noticed an advertisement on a page I visited. This advertisement was labelled "Download Keeper" and showed a few pictures with products and prices in dollars. I didn't expect such advertisements on the site in question and so I looked more closely at it. In the mark-up, I find a lot of elements containing classes starting with SF_ like SF_IIAD_EXPL and url's starting with http://www.superfish.com. Also, some javascript files are loaded from http://rvzr-a.akamaihd.net. Then, I looked at my add-ons and found 4 suspicious ones: DDoowload keeper 1.6 DoWnlOad KeeEper 1.6 Download keeper 1.6 DownnlOadd KeepEr 1.6 How could these have come here? I certainly didn't add them intentionally. Will they have come in with some software installer? Is there some way I can prevent these types of add-ons to be installed?

Please get back to me as soon as possible. this is my livelyhood.

I support a large number of users who are... let's say, technically challenged. virtually every site they need to use for work requires Java, as do many of the ones they use at home. It's not practical for me to go around and train them all how to figure out whether a site uses Java and how to enable Java when necessary.

Is there any way for me to just globally enable Java on their systems?

Forcing them all to switch to Chrome or IE would bring other problems, but will be significantly easier than trying to train them new behaviors with Firefox.

I prefer the tabs to be under the address bar on my Firefox. Previously I could simply click or unclick an option to do this, and it remained the same as I upgraded. However, I recently moved to Linux Mint 16, and it had Firefox 24 already installed. I synched my bookmarks, but was unable to locate the option to move the tabs. I actually have the roomy bookmarks toolbar, and the tabs previously sat below it. Ideally, I would like to get them there again.

Hello, everyone!

I've filed a bug report here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1004476 The problem is that after installing Firefox 29 with no profile at all and installing any addon that requires a browser restart (NoScript for e.g.) Firefox restarts OK, but after closing it and trying to open again I get a message: "Firefox is already running". I can see in the Task Manager that there is already Firefox running in the background. I've found several people complaining about this issue. Here: http://forums.informaction.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=19612 And here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2825639

Thank you in advance

2nd Update. (Comment by a moderator)
Engineers are working on issues that have been identified.
The known issues are problems with Firefox hanging on closedown resulting in Firefox not restarting unless the hung process is killed.

Workaround ensure Firefox is NOT set to clear History on Close down
Use NewButton New Fx Menu → Preferences → |Privacy| Firefox will: [Remember History v ]

I use Firefox 24, and lately it's been freezing every couple of seconds. It seems to be worse whenever I try to type in a text box or open a new tab. I've disabled hardware acceleration. I'm confident it is not a malware problem. I didn't have this issue with Firefox 23 up until recently, and upgrading to 24 didn't help. I don't understand what the problem is. My best guess is that upgrading to Flash 11.8.800.168 did it, but Googling it didn't seem to reveal anyone else having these issues after patching.

This problem started in the last several days. I get 2-3 repetitions of each of the following before Firefox will open. I click on the OK button as many times as these messages show up to get Firefox to open:

1st msg) The procedure entry point NS_StringContainerInit2_P could not be located in the dynamic link library xul.dll

2nd msg) The procedure entry point ?JS_GetGlobalObject@@YAPAVJSObject@@PAUJSContext@@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library mozjs.dll

What can be done to get rid of these things? I have tried a Firefox reset. The first time it seemed to stop these messages. The occurrence today started about 30 min ago and a second Firefox reset (~10 min ago) does not cure the problem this time when I check by closing & immediately opening Firefox.

I have replaced the add-ons & extensions I want each time I've reset Firefox. I presume you can see these in the attached Troubleshooting Info.

I have not tried a computer restart this time. Note, I turn my computer OFF every night & restart it every morning.
