In recent weeks, on both machines, Firefox occasionally disappears, about half a dozen times in total, and when I restart Firefox the window I had been using doesn't come back. The History tab has no trace of the lost window, nor of any of the tabs it had contained. It takes me a long time to try to "reconstruct" the lost window and tabs from memory, and I'm only ever partially successful. So these incidents are extremely annoying.

I use Avast software to protect my computers, and I tried to blame Avast for the above happening, but they denied being responsible. I allowed them to remote access my desktop PC, and they said that they could detect nothing wrong.

The problem has happened again this morning on my desktop PC, hence this report.

The two computers are not linked in any way other than accessing the internet via the same cable out of the house, so I don't think that some kind of "cross-infection" could have caused Firefox on both to become unreliable. Of course, both machines automatically update their versions of Firefox and Windows 10.

Hi,

After starting FF in troubleshoot mode, I keep getting signed out of google when exiting FF.

I'm no longer using the troubleshoot mode -which deleted all the bookmarks on the bookmarks toolbar and browsing history between now and 6 months ago... I can live with that.

What really annoys me is that I have to sign in again and again on Google whenever I start FF

I've read through several threads on FF and even Google ... am I missing something? I believe my settings

are correct, but that doesn't solve the problem. Could there be another issue playing here? I use uBlock, Privacy Badger and Facebook Container as add ons. On a Windows 10 desktop, by the way.

My FF version is 102.3.0esr 64 bit.

Hoping for a solution (or at least a cause...) Jo

I have always ask what to do with PDF files. When clicking on the PDF file a box opens and I have open PDF file checked. It is stilled saved in a folder. Any other suggestions?

When I try to access my Telstra account using Firefox, either at telstra.com/myaccount or at telstra.com/paybill it brings me to the Register page where I enter my telstra user name. I click Continue and land on a blank white page and that is the end of it, can't go any further.

I talked to Telstra, they told me to clean all cookies for those two sites. It didn't change anything, still get a blank page.

Then tried with Chrome, it works perfectly, I can access my account on both websites.

Telstra tells me it is a Firefox issue. It does not make any sense to me because I have used Firefox for many years, since I had Windows 98, and never had a problem.

I am using Win 10 and the latest Firefox version. This problem started 3 months ago. Before then I had no issues. I accessed my telstra account once a month to pay it. Hope you can help. Thank you, Carmen

Hi, I'm trying to setup Firefox Sync for the first time. I successfully created my account, but when I log in on another device and run the synchronization, nothing happens.

I think I found the root of the problem in the Firefox settings :

  • When I open the "Sync" tab, it displays : "Syncing: ON" (good)
  • But : "You are currently synchronising these items: " (empty - not good)
  • I click on the "Change" button, the "Choose what to synchronize" pop-up appears
  • And here's the thing : almost all the checkboxes are disabled, I'm unable to select any of them (apart from "Credit cards", which I don't want to use). See my uploaded images.

I'd like to sync my Bookmarks and Passwords but I can't, because the checkboxes are disabled in the Settings. I tried to update other Settings, disconnect/reconnect my Firefox account, tried again on another device... I always find an empty "You are currently synchronising these items: " and disabled checkboxes.

Did anyone have the same issue, or maybe am I doing something wrong? Best regards

Hello, I manage a High school and after recently reimaging my Machines during the School holiday, I got users complaining that Firefox was extremely slow. I verified this and did a couple of tests. in fact If I log in as an Admin that has no GPOs applied and also uses a local windows profile I have no issues. but as soon as I log in with a user, who gets GPOs and has a roaming windows profile, Firefox is extremely slow and takes about 30 seconds to load a tab.

I'm running the latest update, and also created a new firefox profile on the server, to no avail. I also disabled ESET Anti Virus which did not make any difference. Ressources look good, no Spikes in used ressources and also the Event Viewer does not log anything firefox related.

What could be the culprit here?

I have browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent and browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent set to false because this is what best suits my needs in most cases. However, there are some occasions when I'd like to open some links in a new tab after the current one and not at the end. Is there a way, shortcut/addon/anything I could achieve this?

Thanks!

I am still trying to get Firefox to download and install ESR updates with users that never use Firefox. I have GPOs in place and if I open Firefox it will update obviously. If I open Firefox for 5 seconds and close it I do see that the update downloads and eventually installs. I saw an article that states the "Requirements to Run" and wanted to clarify. See below "Firefox must have a default profile, and it must run using that profile at least once after the feature is enabled." Does this requirement mean that Firefox will never update unless it is opened at least once? Why is this a requirement if so. I have Chrome and Edge updating with ease without ever opening it. If I am missing something please help me. Thank you! I can provide anything else you need for clarification.

hi, back a month later after posting this ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1387447 )

i didn't get a chance to implement the solution because by the time i had received it, i had already opened everything back up manually, and closed out firefox multiple times (when i first started up and noticed missing tabs), which i presume created a new session. i can soundly say its happened and i think i've pinned down the issue. it seems that when i update firefox, it restarts tabs from around the time of the previous update. is there something that could be causing this? i've scrounged my session back up data, and none of them contain my previous tabs, and my alternate session doesn't either. my actual previous tabs are shown in my recent history, so there should be no reason it opens tabs from august right? this time after the update firefox disabled all of my add-ons and my theme, which it has never done to me before.

(i also noticed two login.json from may and june respectively that have been labelled corrupt. could that be an issue? my latest one however, seems uncorrupted, from the day of and day before posting this reply.)

if you could kindly help me, please do. thank you in advance.

This issue has only started recently, and I have done extensive testing. As I recently switched to FiOS and the issues started at the same time i first thought this was a router problem, however other web browsers have no problems, and it is exclusively Firefox. (I have checked this with Verizon support already and because this is exclusive to Firefox there was not much they could do other than help confirm with other browsers everything seems fine)

The problem specifically: While browsing any web page, Firefox will seem loose connection to the internet briefly. The best way to describe the problem is: for about 30 seconds Firefox is fine, then for about 10 it will lose connection, then Firefox will regain full connection for another 30 seconds. Some websites like YouTube help me confirm this as I will attempt to open a video. The web page will load part way, then YouTube will say there is no internet connection, and after a few seconds it will then load again with the error page changing back to the video. This happens for any website I visit, trying a google search, browsing social media sites, or even navigating these help pages.

Testing: I have tested my router with other devices and there are no problems. I have tested using other web browsers and they do not have any problems. To test further, I have had a stream playing on another other browser (Microsoft Edge) while trying to replicate the problem to confirm it is not my internet connection. There is no interruption in the stream, and I still can replicate the problem on Firefox for any website.

Problem Solving Attempted: I have tried disabling my firewall, I have examined all of my router's settings, and I have tried clearing my browsing history. None of this worked. I confirmed that I am using the most up to date version of Firefox and have tried using prior versions to no avail. I have also tried following all of the steps in a few of the help topics in Firefox help with no results: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/websites-dont-load-troubleshoot-and-fix-errors. I have also confirmed my drivers are up to date and tried resetting my computers network socket.

I don't know why Firefox refuses to run properly now, any help would be appreciated. I know I wrote a short novel there, but I wanted to be as detailed as I could because none of the 'typical' fixes have worked, and I have tried many less than typical solutions too.

Thank you for anything you can offer Michael

Today is October 2, 2022. Firefox became noticeably slower about 4 to 6 weeks ago. There were problems with YAHOO! Mail, for example. It was particularly noticeable when I would be watching one YouTube video and then would click on the image/icon of a different video, trying to change to & open the new video. E.g., NBC or CBS videos, like "Jimmy Kimmel" shows, etc. A couple of days ago, I opened Windows 10(TM) Task Manager, and used "End Task" to shut off Dropbox instances. I then uninstalled Dropbox. I did that to prevent Dropbox from running in the background [and I don't need it, anyway]. That seemed to help. I have also switched to Firefox "Troubleshoot Mode" -- that seemed to help, somewhat, but not necessarily in every case.

Yesterday, there were problems opening MyADP (to view salary pay stubs) with Firefox [in regular mode]. The application just seemed to be "stuck" while trying to open the view to payment listing. So, this morning, I ran MS-Edge(TM), and MyADP opened properly and operated with no problems.
Is it possible that some MS-Windows 10(R) update is causing problems with Firefox?

Moments ago, I opened YAHOO! mail in a separate, new tab, and logged-in quickly, without a problem. I'm happy about that.

I just opened another tab, easily started the video. However, clicking on a different video's icon -- the result is that the YouTube red line only moves left to right about 2/3 of the way across the screen, and the newly-selected video does not load. Clicking repeatedly on the different video's icon seems to "clog" YouTube to the point that the message, "Connect to the internet. You are offline. Retry", appears.

So, I'm a bit puzzled. What do you suggest, please?

  Thank You in Advance,

Dave
