Hi, I can't install Firefox and I don't know what's going on here.

Yesterday I installed the latest version of Firefox and it worked fine. Then, I turned off the laptop and the next day when I was going to use Firefox, it didn't load any pages. Edge was working fine, Chrome was working fine, but Firefox was not working. Trying to fix the problem, I decided to uninstall Firefox and installing it again. In order to clean even more the previous installation, I even manually deleted the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox folder to remove all possible traces. I restarted the laptop and downloaded again the Firefox installer. I don't know how, but the installer detected that I had already installed Firefox before. I unchecked restart Firefox and hit the button to continue with the installation. After this, was impossible to install Firefox again. I got a message saying that the installation cannot continue because the VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. The message said that this problem can be fixed by reinstalling the program, but that is not true, everytime I try to reinstall it, I get again the VCRUNTIME140_1.dll error.

After this, the installation stops and the Firefox icon appears on the desktop, but it doesn't install properly the software and when I open it, I cannot browse the Internet.

Do you know what's going on here and how to solve this?

Cheers

I got a new Lenovo Laptop and cant get Firefox to load a webpage. Here's what happens and what I've done 1. I install Firefox and during install get error below, VCRUNTIME140_1.dll Not Found. I then click OK and Firefox Installs but when I load it no webpages will come up just a black screen no indications it is even trying to load the page, no error message. It does nothing. Cant even open Google.com 2. I looked in MS forums and they say to install Visual C++. Did every x86 and X64 version I could find. Still have the problem even after uninstalling Firefox and reboot. 3 Have McAfee, and took Firefox off the Safe list then put it back on. 4. Went to try and find the file but can't on a reputable website. So I looked for this file on my Dell Laptop and Asus Desktop. Both have Firefox installed and it works fine. Get this, NONE of my other two computers have that exact file name anywhere. VCRUNTIME140_1.DLL! They have 140.DLL and a few other 140.dll with different variation but no 140_1.dll? So how does Firefox run on 2 other computers without this DLL but not on this new one? They are all Windows 10 Would appreciate any help. Seems to be a Firefox or Lenovo Issue just not sure. If anyone know how to get the DLL from MS let me know.

Following a Windows 10 update, I tried to open Firefox and the following popup message appeared. "the code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." I have tried several times to download the latest version of Firefox, but during it's installation the same error message appears. How can I fix this problem and get Firefox to work normally.

Philippe

PC was running fine and firefox. Removed the office365 app that comes with win10 and now its no go. Reinstalled and no go. Done safe mode and no go. Removed all files and new install of firefox still no go.

So I have to say that may be office365 app has removed some important files that were shared. I haven't installed office365 as I use office pro 2010 which still works fine. Im used that snarky edge browser at the moment.

Any ideas?

I tried Mozilla VPN but it would never connect. So I uninstalled and cancelled. Then I got a persistent vcruntime140.dll not found error. I uninstalled iTunes and legacy Microsoft Visual Suite apps. Now nothing will load. Not about pages. Not password pages. Not websites. Nothing. Have uninstalled and refreshed Firefox multiple times. Have restarted PC multiple times. Have turned off firewall and virus protection. Nothing works. nothing loads. Thanks for your thoughts!

The first time I get a warning that a .dll is not available or so (I dont know what this warning is precisely, becaus it pops up for 2 seconds only ) , and firefox is not well installed, reinstalling goes without warning, but still Firefox starts and then stay dead, no sites, no settings. I know the security in this computer is very thight, but other apps install without problem and functions.

I got a new PC and installed Firefox, synced with my account. Everything worked fine for a few days but then it became unresponsive, in the sense that it won't try to load any pages at all. I uninstalled it completely and did a refresh but it is still the same - attached is a screenshot of the brand new copy, where it won't even load the welcome info. Entering a URL and hitting Enter does nothing at all. It's totally unusable and I have no idea what else to try! Anyone have this issue?

Hello, Something strange happened during a recent Firefox update, not sure if it was something I did, or computer related, but now Firefox does not function. The browser will open but will not load any websites. Also, settings page will not open. If Firefox browser is closed and reopened a message is shown stating "Firefox is already running but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window".

My troubleshooting actions: Installed/Uninstalled firefox several times, removed c:\ProgramData\Modzilla folder - status/functionality mentioned above does not change.

Windows running on target computer is completely updated and patched.

Thanks for assist, David

Firefox on a Windows 10 (Build 19042.1052) that

It starts and seems to run without hanging or crashing. I can enter an url, but it doesn't do anything. The Viewport just stays white. Also nothing happens if clicking on a bookmark. Or the settings. I was able to open the about:support page via the menu, but not by entering it into the adress bar.

Here are the things that I already tried to no avail: - updated to the latest version - Incognito mode - Troubleshoot mode - graphics card driver is up to date - reinstallation - Cleaning Firefox - delete firefox profile - clearing the start cache - downgrade to version 88.0.1

It is weird, that the about:support page works when opened from the menu but not when entered into the adress bar, right? This means that content can be displayed, but you cannot navigate to it via the address list. But then why don't bookmarks work either?

By the way: It is not a network Issue. Chrome and Edge work, and also the problem persists across multiple different networks.

Brand new pc, new download of Firefox. App opens and allows web addresses to be entered but does not load anything. Nothing happens, it's a blank page. I can't access any settings pages either. I've downloaded and reinstalled Firefox a few times and I got an error message during installation two of the times. I've attached a screenshot of the error message, which reads "firefox.exe - System Error // The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

Firefox stopped working. I have uninstalled and downloaded numerous times. It still doesn't work. In the new install I get a warning box telling me that vcruntime140_1.dll is not functioning or something. Another item: A box tells me to turn off Firefox -- after I have uninstalled Firefox. The program opens and remains totally inert. I spent hours last night and finally it worked -- wonderful. This morning nothing worked. Uninstall -- install ad nauseum. Nothing works. I am writing you.

Recently I have been unable to surf the web on my Firefox Browser. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it a few time to no avail. I have checked my Firewall settings and Firefox is not blocked. I know other browsers work as I am sending this through Edge.

I checked my event viewer and found that Firefox was being denied access (see attached pic). Any suggestions to get this resolved would be welcome.

I added the Mozilla VPN but that wouldn't communicate with my printer. So out of frustration, I uninstalled firefox all together. I then went to the mozilla site (on Edge) and downloaded the app. It completed the installation but when the browser opens it doesn't do anything. I can't move around or open any sites. It's just frozen on New Tab and nothing works. I can't even sign in - I can click on the sign in button but it doesn't do anything.

When I tried downloading the app from chrome, I got the attached text box and the same general result. Firefox opened but didn't work.

I've spent hours today trying to just get the regular browser working (forget about the VPN) and I'm frustrated. I have yet to find a way to call a support desk who can help me in "real time".

Thank you to anyone who can solve this for me and get me back to working in Firefox again (and able to print). Katie
