So, my problem is with HW acceleration in FF. Basically:

If its enabled: It causes graphical artifacts in videos [See screenshot]. If its disabled: It brings screen tear in to videos and autoscroll [Like if Vsync is disabled in games].

I tried safe mode, I tried reinstall of FF, I tried disabling and enabling extensions. I tried to set Vsync on in Nvidia control panel... the only thing that impact those bugs is HW acceleration in FF.

My drivers are up to date, my browser is up to date, yet there is such trouble.

Any ideas or solutions?

When I play a video with the web player in Firefox that has AC3 audio, I get no sound.

Doing some research it looks like AC3 used to be patented so I assume that is why it isn't included in Firefox but since March 20, 2017 the patent for AC3 has expired so I'd think it's now OK to include in Firefox.

The same video works in Edge and Chrome.

I'm looking for a solution to an annoying bug in Firefox on Windows 11. The taskbar won't hide when I go into fullscreen on videos (e.g. YouTube).

The issue is directly tied to hardware acceleration.

This doesn't happen in Chrome, and I've already tried reinstalling Firefox and updating all my drivers and Windows. Does anyone know of a fix for this bug?

Good day, I have Firefox 138.0.4 running on Windowx 11 24H2. PC details as follows: CPU = Ryzen 5 2400G RAM = 32GB GPU = RTX 3060Ti 8GB Connection is 50/25Mbps fibre connection

My issue is that when watching F1 from the following site: https://f1tv.formula1.com/, after some time (it differs in how long it takes to manifest), the stream starts to stutter. Note, it is NOT buffering, it is like the stream gets "stuck" or freezes for an instant then continues. The "freeze" then becomes more frequent and sometimes even lasts for about 2 seconds before resuming. The most important fact about all this is that this does NOT happen when using Google Chrome, hence my suspicion that it is somehow related to Firefox specifically. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and/or how to fix it, please?

Trying to watch YouTube playlists but Firefox interrupts and displays a pop-up, stating that playback has been Paused. Why does it keep pausing?! I want it to play it on loop and I even tell YouTube to put it on loop. I can't find anything in settings that will allow me to stop Firefox from pausing my playback.

Hello,

I recently updated my Firefox browser to the latest version, 138.0.1 (64-bit), on Windows.

After the update, I noticed that when playing videos in fullscreen mode (for example, on YouTube or other video websites), the Windows taskbar (the bar at the bottom of the screen with the Start menu icon) does not hide automatically. This is affecting my fullscreen viewing experience.

Before updating to version 138.0.1, the Windows taskbar would hide correctly when entering fullscreen video.

I was wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar issue with the Windows taskbar not hiding, or if there are any suggested solutions to help resolve this problem.

Thank you for your help!

I am using Latest version of Firefox (139.0.1 - 64 Bit). I have tried the "hardware acceleration" option on/off and Safe Mode as well. None of it can make Prime Video, Amazon Music or Spotify work! Surprisingly, the podcasts work in Amazon music but not the songs.

I am able to use these in Chrome.

Thanks in advance for the possible resolution steps!

Hallo everyone,

after many hours of Google search and trying many changes in the "about:config" section im done with things to try so my last chance is here.

The problem i have is that videos dont play if i mouseover the firefox window or tab i.E. on the windows taskbar. The video will only start to play if i click on the window/tab and that window/tab is the "active" one im looking at.

It worked fine before but some firefox update f***ed this up (and yes the official firefox updates are the only thing that changed), no i dont know which update it was because i didnt recognize the problem right away.

The autoplay option is set to allow media and audio.

The weird thing is that when i open a video in the vlc player and do the mouseover, everything works just fine. So my conclusion is that some setting was messed up on the new firefox version.

Some data of my pc, everything is updated: - Windows 11 Pro - CPU is AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 3,4GHz - GPU is AMD Radeon RX 7900XT - RAM is 32GB DDR4 CL16 - Internet is wired connection with 250K speed - Firefox Version is 137.0.1

Sorry for my bad english and thank you in advance.

I have been using Firefox for years and I had to leave Firefox for almost a year because the autoplay on Youtube never works properly. On some videos we can see the ON/OFF button at the bottom of the screen on other videos it is not accessible. All the settings are adjusted properly... I have to use another browser to listen to music. when I use for example EDGE or Chrome there is no problem at all, I can leave the music playing all day even if it is not a playlist the minutes that I go on Firefox I have to constantly restart the video again because it stops automatically it is not my computer it is your Browser that does not work well. Moreover, when I try to synchronize my old setup that I already had impossible.... it is always to be redone continuously you have made significant changes and progress I find it very unfortunate. In conclusion, you should enable custom background on the main page we're in 2025.. I hope that you will answer me even if I really doubt because you don't really care about custom services have a good day

Hello,

NVIDIA RTX Video Enhancements are not working in firefox at all. By not working, i mean neither Super Resolution neither HDR enhancements work at all, not even the badge shows up, and the NVIDIA app reports the status as "inactive". The video is not upscaled, and the content isn't getting put into HDR. It is on globally on my system, and does work on all the chromium based browsers installed on my system, even on the discord app itself.

I tried a latest firefox fresh install, with youtube playback, or just opening a video file directly with the browser. This worked on chromium browsers, but not on firefox.

I'm on windows 10 64bit with a 3060 gpu. (the only gpu in the system.) I have 4 monitors connected, but still get the same issue with only one. Hardware decoding is force enabled, and about:support reports that hardware decoding is supported for H264, VP8, VP9 and AV1 too. I even get the same amount of video-decode usage in task manager on both chromium and firefox while video is playing.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Firefox devs,

First of all - great thank you for this alternative to the status quo.

So - this started some months ago and I thought Youtube implemented some sort of protection so the music sounds obviously different and worse than the original.

But now I played some MP3 files directly from the computer and then played them on VLC player.

Man, I hadn't listened music peacefully for months, because I usually listen my Youtube playlist and it sounds horrible.

Now on the VLC it sounded as it should be and it was a pleasure to listen to, while on Firefox it was s..t

Basically it skips beats, changes tempo, it's subtle but obvious and makes listening music a horrible experience.

The OS is Debian 12 - bookworm, the firefox was always the latest in all these last months, I let it update when it needs to.

It's in virtual machine, but so is VLC and there is more than enough CPU to play a song.

What could it be, is it just me who experiences this?

Thank you for your time.
