Hello,

I’ve noticed that Firefox is inaccurately reporting my geolocation. I am connected through a VPN/Web3 setup that correctly places my location in Canada by a direct-routing for special sites domen address. Other browsers, such as Yandex Browser, reflect this correctly. However, Firefox seems to ignore this and reports my location as being in Russia.

I tested this side-by-side using the same website (Gemini), and the result was consistently different across browsers — Firefox being the only one that misrepresents my location.

This is concerning, especially from a privacy standpoint. It seems Firefox is using a different method to determine geolocation.

Could you please clarify how Firefox determines geolocation, and whether it’s possible to change or disable this behavior? I believe users should have full control over what location data is shared and ensure that the browser respects the actual network setup in use.

Importantly, blocking geolocation access for the site in Firefox’s settings does not solve the issue — the site still receives the incorrect (Russian) location, likely based on IP or some internal Firefox service. This suggests Firefox is using an alternative method to determine and transmit location data, possibly ignoring the active VPN setup or relying on cached/default IP-based data

Thank you.

Dear Mozilla Support Team,

I hope you're doing well. I'm writing to request a feature enhancement for Mozilla Firefox that would greatly improve the user experience, especially on lower-end or older hardware.

Currently, whenever I open Firefox after closing it, it takes about 2–3 seconds to launch. In comparison, Microsoft Edge opens almost instantly due to features like Startup Boost and background mode, which allow it to keep essential processes running even when the main window is closed.

I would love to see similar functionality in Firefox — such as:

An optional "Startup Boost" feature to keep Firefox running in the background for faster launching.

A tray icon mode that allows Firefox to stay running in the system tray instead of closing completely.

A setting to allow background updates or session prep on startup/login.

These additions would make Firefox even more competitive in terms of performance and convenience.

Thank you for your continuous efforts in maintaining a privacy-respecting and open-source browser. I truly appreciate your work.

Best regards, RIYYAN AMIR

Power consumption of Firefox is so high that it nearly killed the display of my iMac. My screen started flickering with horizontal lines across the display. When i touched the screen, it was so hot that I could boil water using it. I did not realize that it was Firefox that was killing my PC until I looked at the power consumption (see the attached screenshot). I hope there is a solution to this since I really love Firefox and have been using it for well over a decade.

Apparently Firefox updated overnight and now my New Tab Page, which had a ton of tiles on it that I'd pinned over the years is now completely blank, no tiles, no nothing (except the Firefox logo). If there were at least some blank tiles, I'd have something to work with, but when I say blank, that's exactly what I mean.

Is there any way to get back the tiles I had? Because none of the pages I've opened or searched so far has created a tile on the page.

Thanks.

(on a mac book pro 2021-Ventura 13.7.2)

  1. 1 - first time sending FireFox bug issue. I took 1/2hr to type out my book mark issues, as specific detail as possible so it would be clear why your NEW Update messed up your BOOKMARK function - a first time and was DONE. went to bottom to click Submit. Saw the ask for Images, made the screenshots, uploaded screen shots here, saw your Button for "Data share"- not sure what this is but wanted to help you/help me, so I clicked it, said something next suggesting I Data share manually - link for HOW to Data share manual, decided was too much for my time right now - clicked the top window Arrow "Back" to THIS page AND 40MIN OF INFO WAS GONE!!!!

Don't put a button and ask for info suggesting I click or I move away from a page to HELP YOU !!! then lose all the work I just did. DON'T WASTE MY TIME!!! OMG - WTF!!! this is not a "fun thing" to spend time on during a busy day or ever. now don't care to re-type it and am leaving with bad experience. well done!

"Volunteers" - why are volunteers doing Firefox support work for free?

See attached screen shots. Bottom line-GO BACK TO THE OLD BOOKMARK FUNCTION where I can add a new bookmark AND put it in folder where I want it in 1 step.

I’ve noticed that Firefox consumes a lot of memory, especially when I have multiple tabs open. Sometimes, it slows down my entire system, and Task Manager shows Firefox using over 1GB of RAM even with just a few tabs. Other browsers like Chrome or Edge seem to handle memory better with the same number of tabs.

I’ve tried restarting Firefox, closing unused tabs, and disabling a few extensions, but the problem keeps coming back. I even checked techsquest.com for tips, but I’m still struggling. Are there specific settings, hidden features, or optimizations I can apply to reduce Firefox’s memory usage without sacrificing performance?

Here’s what I’ve already checked:

Firefox is updated to the latest version.

No unusual extensions running (just uBlock Origin and Dark Reader).

Hardware acceleration is enabled.

Any help would be appreciated—thanks in advance!

I have an Office 365 account through work and I'm using Copilot frequently. In Firefox I have a pinned tab for Copilot.

In recent weeks I've run into issues where the Copilot page stays essentially blank, i.e. the message field to enter text does no longer appear. The Office Toolbar still appears and when I switch to other Office365 sites like OneDrive and Home they work just fine. The problem only exists with the Copilot page. Refreshing the page does not solve the problem.

I found a temporary work-around by clocking on the lock-button in the address bar and selecting "Clear cookies and site data...". After doing this and refreshing the page it works fine again, but only for a while (like maybe the rest of the day). I don't know exactly what makes it break, but it seems like I have to apply the work-around on a daily basis almost.

Additional Info: I've been using this setup for at least a year and the problem only appeared in the last few weeks. If I open Copilot in either Chrome or Edge I don't have this problem (but I also don't want to use Chrome or Edge).
