I am sorry for having to ask for help so much.,but I really have two issues: 1. After applying the information that Cor-el suggested and restarting Firefox in Safe mode, when I turned off my computer I had many duplicate icons on my desktop," four Firefox", "three My Computer", two Google Earth".etc. What to do to have only just one icon of each program or file applied to the desktop? Issue # 2.:After clearing the cache, cookies and restarting in Safe Mode, then I had an Adobe Flash crash, I was very worried until I researched the Crash information. Now I was checking my plug-ins and all of them are showing "Disable". Two are showing out-dated, Shock Wave Flash is showing  !Up-date 'Now. 'Should I Enable all the Add-ons? I have not up-dated nothing or Enabled any of the Add-ons..I am totally at a loss as what I should do. Learning how to navigate and apply solutions in Firefox is very hard for this 79 year old senior lady, but I love how Firefox normally responds so quickly,. it is a challenge for me. Thank goodness for the community Firefox help and again I apologize for my limited knowledge and asking for help so much. Thank you, Jeanette Gonzales

the only entry in about:config is browser.history_expire_days.mirror, which is currently 3650. i do not see an entry for browser.history_expire_days_max or min.

options->privacy->history is set to "remember history", it will not accept attempt to change to "use custom settings" and there is no option for setting the duration of history to be saved.

In some windows, Firefox puts the New Tab "+" button to the left of my tabs instead of the right. This seems to be more likely to happen when it re-opens windows from a previous session (not sure that's always true). In the window I'm typing this, the + tab button is to the left of my tabs, but if I open a new Firefox window, it is correctly to the right of the tabs.

Also, even in a window that incorrectly places the + tab button to the left of the tabs, when I go into Customize mode, it immediately and correctly shows it on the right. As soon as I close the "Customize Toolbar" window, it bounces back to the left edge.

As you can imagine, any button appearing in different places in different windows or at different times is annoying and breaks the UX. I also worry this may be a symptom of some more serious problem, though everything else appears to still work, even in those windows where the new tab button is in the wrong place.

Why does this happen and can I stop it? I have seen nothing about this posted here, but I've had this problem at least since version 12, and it's still happening in 13.0.1. I have the same problem on multiple computers, including after new installs. I don't use many add-ons -- LastPass, XMarks... I think that's it.

<This may be a duplicate post -- I thought I posted this earlier this morning, but after creating and confirming my new account to post to the forum, it never appeared, so now re-posting. Apologies if there is just a long lag and both appear. I think this is the more detailed posting though.>

Since I upgraded to Firefox 13 for mac, Firefox asks my permission to access confidential information in my keychain. It does it everytime I start firefox even though I click "Always Allow" each time. This did not happen with the older version. By the way, the exact message reads, "Firefox wants to use your confidential information stored in “lpsafari” in your keychain. Do you want to allow access to this item?" Is there some way to get Firefox to stop asking?

When opening Firefox browser, my homepage was is my sbcglobal (ATT / Yahoo) e-mail account. Some of my links still successfully use Firefox to get to the specified URL, but some of the links now don't work automatically and I have to specify what program (i.e. Firefox) to use. I have deleted and re-installed Firefox but the problem persists.

I was using Firefox 3.6 with add-on Menu Editor to hide the ability to edit the history. I updated to Firefox 13.01 and installed Menu Editor II Now there is an orange tab in the top left corner of the browser that says 'Firefox' and when I click on it it openly allows access to the History.

I do not want history to be allowed to be deleted or edited. How do I hide the History button? (I've already installed Disable Private Browsing add-on and it still allows editing of History) I am also not worried about any tech savvy people in this house getting around anything--I'm the only one who is a little tech savvy-ish

God it's been difficult getting somewhere actually to ask a question !!!!

When will Mozilla and Oracle fix the Java Problem?

If I update to FF v18 my Java will not work correctly with either Java 7U9 or the latest version - basically no sound, no mouse support.

Therefore I have downloaded FF v13 and installed it with Java 7U9 and it works. It's all I can do if I'm to use the Java-enabled sites I need. No point in prompting me to update, as the update just plain doesn't work!!

Everything worked in Internet Explorer with both Java 7U9 or the latest Java, so I can see myself migrating to IE or Chrome.

I tried disabling the Download video feature in RealPlayer Plus just for just Firefox. videos still will not play. The only way they will play is if I disable the feature for ALL browsers. I have found this to be true on multiple computers and other people have experienced this as well. I can deal with it if Firefox has trouble with RealPlayer, a product I paid for, but why do they care what I use in other browsers? This is unacceptable. Especially since there are all kinds of cheap extensions that do the same thing as RealPlayer but not as well. See ya -- for testing purposes only from now on. My web sites will all note works best with anything BUT Firefox.
