Don't know if this is problem or new feature. I suspect new feature as when I recently updated, it presented itself. When I deleted current version of Firefox and went back to older version, I got the look and functionality that I wanted. But I suspect that it has now automatically updated again as the disappearing toolbar has again presented itself. I hate this feature. Can I disable it?

Apparently my FF3 updated today and now I'm having problems with this new FF12. One of them is: I can't seem to hide the menu bar. In FF3, I had it hidden and I'd press the alt button when I needed it, but I can't do that in this version. It's not any of my extensions, as I tested it in safe mode. I could provide pictures if necessary.

If there is shortcut for the address bar, then why isn't it listed here: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Keyboard%20shortcuts?as=aaq

If there are no shortcut, does anyone know the reason why? For me it would be the most used shortcut by far.

since I installed Firefox 13.0, scrolling down pages went a bit smoother. My PC is a bit old, so when i have youtube played in one tab and I'm smoothly scrolling in another, every time i scroll down the music stops for the time i scroll down. Like some sort of lag, but my internet connection is fine.

so my question was; How can i turn this feature off, so i can listen to music without the stops when scrolling?

Several times over the last couple weeks, I type up a very well thought out response on Facebook in political conversations with friends. An hour or two into my work, I hit backspace with the intent of editing what I wrote (maybe after I scrolled or something, so maybe I unintentionally took the edit window out of focus). The navigator takes me back a page and I lose my two hours of work. Infuriating! Shortcuts with the ability to wipe out two hours of works should be disable-able. Not only that, I feel that is an unsafe shortcut for this very reason, and would have added a SHIFT modifier key or something like that. I think I invented a cool word: disable-able.

Hello, I have spell checking Disabled in Tools > Options > Advanced. I was recently typing a message in a bulletin board style forum, and suddenly saw the red wiggly line which typically indicates a misspelled word. The forum has no spell check feature. It lasted for 2 or 3 minutes, then stopped.

My current theory is that I accidentally enabled spell checking by inadvertently striking some particular key or keys. However, I can't find any info, which indicates that spell checking can be requested on a one-time basis, via key shortcut. While I think that would be a nice feature, it does not appear to currently exist.

So my questions: Is there such a feature? Does anyone have any idea if this sudden and unintentional spell check behavior might be traced to Firefox?

Thanks for your help :-)

I'm just a bit confused. I have Version 8.x of Firefox, which seems to be a 32-bit version. The help site seemed to say that there is a 64-bit version of Firefox, but when I went to download it, I got something called Nightly, which has now replaced my Firefox. Is nightly a fully-functioning version of Firefox? Is there any advantage to using it as my browser? Is there any reason I shouldn't use it? I would call myself an advanced intermediate user in terms of computer literacy.

Another related question: When I search something on the help site, I often see references to Version 3.x or Version 4.x. Is my 8.x on the same numbering system as these versions? Is it the most up-to-date version?

Thanks for your help.
