I have several tabs. Last I closed a bunch I was over 200, so it's a bit annoying when I start Firefox to do something, and randomly it'll start up the tab(s) of Facebook I have among the many.

It doesn't matter what tab I was on when I exited Firefox last, Facebook will be loaded without fail. I tried it several times with different sites, and I never exited with Firefox being the page I was on last.

Often my tab list on the top will be scrolled over (not by me, it happens when the Facebook tab loads) and I will have to scroll back to find the currently open page's tab. (The loaded page, whatever I was on last is on the screen, no problem with that.)

Anyway, I could list several reasons why this is a nuisance, but the thing is: I do not know why this is happening, it is disruptive, so I wish to understand the problem and stop it from happening.

This has persisted throughout several versions of Firefox, so I do not think it has to do with updates, but I do have the Facebook Container and F.B Purity addons.

So, I've had this problem once already and solved it. Mozilla updated automatically and I lost all of my tabs (over a 100 tabs, mostly with books I wanted to buy / compare prices), couldn't restore the session and had no history. After a dramatic and prolonged freakout, I actually found help on this site and managed to open the correct upgrades.jsonlz4 files with the jeffersoncher scrounger website. I meant to save all of the links in a word file since I no longer trusted firefox to open my tabs after an update, but real life happened. I kept putting it off and was content to have the tabs on hand as a list on the scrounger website. But then ANOTHER automatic update happened and now I no longer find the old .jsonlz4 file - I have a few really old ones (from 2017 and 2019) but the one from around the time period of the first tab loss only has tabs about restoring lost history. I now, just as before, again have no history to find the tabs with the books I want that way. My question is: I would very much like to have those tabs back - some of those books were meant as gifts and finding them the analog way is possible, but very time-consuming. Is there any way I could find the correct .jsonlz4 file (I even remember the date it was modified as shown in file explorer - or should I just give up the whole affair as lost and no longer waste time on it? I'll try reinstalling firefox after I post this message, but given that it didn't work last time, I'm not very optimistic.

Thanks in advance, all the best Ana

Hello! Since I do not see any options for submitting an enhancement request, I thought I'd do it in this forum. Maybe there is an answer already out there that could get answered here? I am a software business analyst, who specializes in usability and process management. Being one of the older users of Firefox (as are many of us 'old folks') ;), I would like to ask if there is any possibility/functionality of being able to change the tab appearance once you've installed a theme extension? Depending upon the theme installed, the tabs are translucent. This is understandable based on being able to see more of the theme, BUT... For those of us who are older, sight impaired, etc., Often it is difficult to see the words on the tab and which one is highlighted. I for one, usually have multiple tabs open relative to my work. It would be so helpful to be able to choose an option to change the tabs to:

  1. 1 Using opaque scale/slider bar (to increase or decrease), or just an option to make the tabs opaque.
  2. 2 Change the font to bold if desired.
  3. 3 Change the color of the text to white or black.
  4. 4 Make the current tab a little more pronounced (i.e., highlighted)

Thank you for your consideration of these development enhancements which would help many users. Should there be an answer out there already of how to accomplish at least one of these requests, (of which I will apologize for I cannot find any info or extension yet), I would be most grateful for your assistance with these options. Cheers!

hi there!

is there a way to open a firefox tab in a new private window? it's something i'm wishing for all the time!

(google posts from many years ago state a way to select this option from the menu, but if it worked it no longer is in the menu.)

my reason for needing this so often is that i have many add-ons that block trackers, ads, etc, which are disabled for my private mode. so if a tab won't load, it would be the easiest way by far to get it to do so!

thanks for any help!

I really like my new window URL, but I only need to see it once a day. The blank page new tab is great for someone like me whose attention gets hijacked by interesting Pocket articles.

I have a link on my toolbar to a text scratchpad URL: data:text/html, <html contenteditable>

It's great for grocery lists, YouTube comments, etc. and if I really need to save the text it's no problem.

Is there a way to turn that URL into the default new tab URL?

Hey!

First time I get that, I usually lose my tabs due to my mistake but this morning after starting my PC all the tabs were gone with no option to restore or any error message. I backed up my previous session json and other files by hand but every time i copy it back into my profile folder and rename it sessionstore.jsonlz4 it just gets deleted after I open firefox and none of my old tabs get loaded. I scrounged the files before and saw that they contain my lost tabs, I just can't seem to restore them. I tried reinstalling firefox too but that didn't help.

Did the restore system change or is the backup corrupt ? Thanks!

Fred

When holding Ctrl and clicking the back arrow at the top left manually, it opens a new tab with the URL of the previous page, as it's supposed to. But for some reason, when I hold Ctrl and press the back button on my mouse, it doesn't do the same. This is quite annoying, as sometimes I need to navigate back, but keep the current page open as well, and this forces me to move my mouse cursor all the way to the top left and back again

Mac OS 10.10.2 Firefox 78.9

Problem: When I go back from full screen mode, the half top of tabs(more like the 2/3 part to the tab) becomes not clickable. Only way to solve it is just to restart the browser.

There is another thing that could provide a bit more info. No matter whether I've ever made it full screen or not, the 2/3 top area of the tabs will never turn grey when I put my mouse on it.

No add-ons and themes installed. Tried safe mode and it didn't works.

The same bug exists on the other Mac, which runs an older version of firefox.
