I get that I need to have certain addons only for the developer Version, but I've been having difficulty keeping up with what I need for one and ones that meet my specific needs otherwise. I can only type using one finger at a time due to my autism causing poor coordination. I've been having trouble keeping my gmail synced up in places and it's the mail one I use. But I can't sync my password to different devices as it always asks for a password I haven't used before. I am happy to keep the addons proper on the developer version, and not use it for anything until I ca get it set up without having to re-sync everything. Do you have a suggestion for limited motor ability?

Firefox has become completely unusable for me because it has become very slow. It was fine on this computer (newer i7, 32GB ram, ssd) last weekend but not this. It is actually happening on two different computers. It becomes impossible to type (echo is seconds and windows reports that the application is not responsive).

However sysinternals procexp doesn't report anything much unusual for the computer as whole or FF. Speed test shows that my internet connection is fine and Chrome is working normally

I have paired sync down to only bookmarks and add-ons of which there are only 5.

The problem may be due to sync - FF seems to perform normally in safe mode or before it has asked for the master password.

I have a beef with visibility around sync - it doesn't seem to be possible to see how often it is running, how much data it is sending, how many disk writes are happening.

I am submitting this report from Chrome because FF is unusable.

So I have firefox on 2 computers. On one of the computers, there are 6 add-ons. But on the other computer, there are only 5. So 1 add-on didn't sync to the other computer. BTW, the add-on is "proxy swichyomega".

and by the way I've experiencing add-on sync problem for a very long time and for various add-ons, which is very annoying and very disappointing. I switched to Chrome in the last few months, now I'm giving firefox another try and I'm experiencing this.

and furthermore, the process for creating this post really sucks. why do I need to create an account? why not just use the sync account? why so many steps with each step displaying over-sized text?

and BTW, here's a piece of the last sync log from the computer that's missing the add-on:

If i look into Manage acccount -> Devices and apps -> There is current device synced and also previous device synced few hours ago, but nothing from previous device is synced. Before i wiped old HDD i checked everything, so all was synced (tabs, bookmarks, ...). When i did just system reinstal last time, it was syncing correctly.

Thank you for help.

I've installed a new 27" iMac (2017) running the High Sierra OS. The installation used Time Machine to transfer two user accounts and the applications from my previous system, which ran Firefox without a problem. This new implementation of Firefox on the 27" iMac was highly dysfunctional and would not allow me to bookmark new pages and would not sync with bookmarks from my Macbook Air. Consequently, I deleted Firefox from my new system and downloaded and installed a new version of Firefox. With the new version of Firefox I still have problems bookmarking pages, I can't sync with my MacBook Air, and I can't import the bookmarks from my Macbook Air. When I attempt to import bookmarks I get the following notice - "Unable to process the backup file."

My Bookmarks are corrupted, they are synched, so all my other browers are corrupted and all bookmarks backups are also corrupted.

How can I fix this?

In the sync-log I found the offending bookmark: Sync.Engine.Bookmarks WARN Failed to reconcile incoming record rZXeoYcJLRvV: TypeError: http:///?lidNr=100000363 is not a valid URL. (resource://gre/modules/Bookmarks.jsm:2107:18) JS Stack trace: rowsToItemsArray/<@Bookmarks.jsm:2107:18 < rowsToItemsArray@Bookmarks.jsm:2091:10 < query@Bookmarks.jsm:1696:26 Sync.Engine.Bookmarks WARN Error creating record: TypeError: http:///?lidNr=100000363 is not a valid URL. In the Bookmarks browser I can find the offending bookmark, but delete does not work. It does noting.

When I try to restore all my bookmarks from any of the auto generated .jsonlz4 file, then I get the failure: "Unable to process the backup file.".

I can't manually edit the places sqllite DB, and the extension I had for that doesn't work any more on FF Quantum. So I tried with vi, but now bookmarks are even more FOO-BAR.

I can't manually edit the the auto generated .jsonlz4 bookmark backup files. There is no unzip for it.

I'm thourougly f*cked as it is (20+ years of bookmarks are trashed).

Can anybody help. The incorrect bookmark might have been around for a while and doesn't look that offending to me (http:///?lidNr=100000363), but all of a sudden FF makes a complete clusterf*ck of it.

How can I fix this?

Hi, the synchronization has stopped working on computers, although the system is logged on. Neither the bookmarks, nor the add-ons, nor the rest is synchronized. When you hover the cursor on the "update" button in the upper right corner, the "last synchronization on January 1" prompt appears (today is May 14). I did a factory default reset on one of the computers, but that did not help. I attach below the text of the file error-sync-1526289870190.txt, if this helps to understand. Thank you)

Since some days I had the problem that my entire Firefox browser (not only an individual tab) was freezing for some seconds every few minutes. I now figured out that this was related to Firefox sync, which started to fail a few days ago and was triggered every few minutes.

The sync logs show errors similar to these:

1526892770098	Sync.Engine.Bookmarks	DEBUG	First sync, uploading all items
   1526892770330	Sync.Engine.Bookmarks	INFO	15808 outgoing items pre-reconciliation
1526892770330	Sync.Engine.Bookmarks	DEBUG	Bookmarks backup starting.
1526892774686	Sync.Engine.Bookmarks	DEBUG	Bookmarks backup done.
1526892774687	Sync.Engine.Bookmarks	INFO	Records: 0 applied, 0 successfully, 0 failed to apply, 0 newly failed to apply, 0 reconciled.
1526892779953	Sync.Engine.Bookmarks	WARN	Failed to enqueue record "pLxS5go7mqjb" (aborting): Error: Single record too large to submit to server (resource://services-sync/record.js:991:40) JS Stack trace: enqueue@record.js:991:40
   _uploadOutgoing@engines.js:1666:43
   1526892780067	Sync.Engine.Bookmarks.BookmarkSyncUtils	DEBUG	pushChanges: Processed change records: {"weak":0,"skipped":15808,"updated":0}
1526892780068	Sync.Status	DEBUG	Status for engine bookmarks: error.engine.reason.unknown_fail
   1526892780068	Sync.Status	DEBUG	Status.service: success.status_ok => error.sync.failed_partial
1526892780068	Sync.ErrorHandler	DEBUG	bookmarks failed: Error: Single record too large to submit to server (resource://services-sync/record.js:991:40) JS Stack trace: enqueue@record.js:991:40
   _uploadOutgoing@engines.js:1666:43
1526892780069	Sync.Engine.Addons	DEBUG	Refreshing reconciler state

I then tried to create a new Firefox profile and to start sync all over again, which was also not working. I am operating a Mozilla Sync Server on one of my own private servers and in the server logs, I noticed that sync tried to fetch one million new bookmarks from the server until I cancelled the process after some hours.

After noticing that I had a look into my bookmarks. There I figured out that my bookmarks were completely screwed up. They were doubled and tripled in the "Other Bookmarks" folder and --- strangely --- they were somehow linked. So deleting a particular bookmark in the "Other Bookmarks" folder deleted it also in the "Bookmarks Toolbar" folder, for example. I decided to completely delete all bookmarks and restore them from a backup. Now, at least in the bookmark manager, everything seems fine.

I also deleted my Firefox sync account and registered again to delete all data on the server side and to start with a fresh sync. However, the sync is now still failing with errors similar to the one above.

Any help is appreciated.

Backing up to a json or html file will save all my bookmarks except for the mobile ones I sync between my laptop and my phone. The jsonlz4 file in my profile folder also does not save mobile bookmarks. Sync by itself is usually enough to preserve all my bookmarks, but I made the mistake of installing FF ESR alongside regular FF which screwed everything up; it would have been nice to have had my complete bookmarks backed up at that point, so I could have restored all of them.

Btw, my laptop browser is spoofed: I'm using FF 60.0.1 on Linux Mint; I'm syncing my laptop with my android phone (FF 60.0.1 also).

Firefox no longer seems to be syncing my bookmarks among devices. In particular, the bookmarks I add on my work iMac do not sync to my android phone or my home macbook pro. I have done the following things to attempt to get things working:

1. Turned off firefox sync on all devices and then back on. 2. Deleted my firefox sync account and recreated it. 3. Deleted and reinstalled firefox on both my android phone and my macbook pro

I have also gone to about:sync-log and see that I seem to have lots of sync errors. I've attached a screenshot of the sync-log screen. I can't seem to attach the txt file of the latest error log, so I'm attaching two screen shots of it as well.

If anyone can help me out, I'd certainly appreciate it!

Edit: Here's a pastebin link of the error log: https://pastebin.mozilla.org/9086433

I've recently noticed lots of error-sync logs in the %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<My Profile>\weave\logs folder. My sync is set up to handle Bookmarks and History only.

I have 4 devices, 2 PCs - both Firefox 56.0.2 32-bit and 2 Android devices (latest Firefox, not sure of version). All 4 were previously set to sync together, Bookmarks/History.

One of the PCs (Windows 7 x64) - has the logs, but I've read numerous articles online on how to fix Sync myself or correct a corrupted places.sqlite database as that's what the error log seems to be suggesting is wrong.

Running check integrity against places.sqlite gives me this:

> Task: checkIntegrity - Unable to check database integrity > Task: checkCoherence - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: expire - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: vacuum - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: stats - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: _refreshUI - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task.

I have tried to repeat the process in safe mode and with a clear (new) profile - the issue persists. I have deleted places.sqlite (after making a backup) to see if sync suddenly starts working - but the bookmark related issue simply returns.

I have signed out on all devices, changed my sync password and logged in on just the PCs (for now until the problem is resolved). I have deleted all bookmarks on the 'problem' PC, then re-imported them from Internet Explorer on the other PC, then reactivated sync - this seems to initially work but once the 'problem' PC has the bookmarks, it tries to sync them and the errors return.

The error in question appears to be this:

1527797240532 Sync.Engine.Bookmarks WARN Error while backing up bookmarks, but continuing with sync: Error: Error(s) encountered during statement execution: database disk image is malformed (resource://gre/modules/Sqlite.jsm:823:25) JS Stack trace: handleCompletion@Sqlite.jsm:823:25 1527797240534 Sync.BrowserIDManager DEBUG _ensureValidToken already has one 1527797240543 Sync.Engine.Bookmarks DEBUG Successfully wrote previousFailed.

I can supply the entire file if required or put it on pastebin.

The only real issue I'm having is that I simply want my history/bookmarks (but nothing else) shared between all my devices that use Firefox, be it quantum or 56.0.2.

I have not tried Firefox Quantum (as numerous add-ons I use are unsupported and I didn't want to simply switch without a road back). I did try Firefox 52.0.8 ESR but the first thing it did was delete my places.sqlite so I wasn't able to reproduce the problem I'm having as I don't want to lose my history data (bookmarks are stored primarily in IE for convenience and simply imported when I need them as I use 'PlainOldFavorites' extension).

This looks like a bug with firefox sync or a corrupt file, but since I've cleared places.sqlite and let FF recreate it, I'm at a loss. If you need any further information to help solve this, I'm happy to provide as much as possible.

Thanks for any suggestions you can offer :)
