I was quite unhappy with the new Firefox Proton design, so I made a CSS file and copied the following code from a website. However, I don't know what to do to (1) slightly reduce the tab height, (2) get back tab borders for inactive tabs and (3) remove the small gaps between tabs. How exactly do I have to change the following code to do so (ideally, for convenience, please just complete the code accordingly)? Thanks in advance for any support!

/*** Tighten up drop-down/context/popup menu spacing (8 Sep 2021) ***/

menupopup:not(.in-menulist) > menuitem,
menupopup:not(.in-menulist) > menu {
  padding-block: 2px !important; /* reduce to 3px, 2px, 1px or 0px as needed */
  min-height: unset !important; /* v92.0 - for padding below 4px */
}
:root {
  --arrowpanel-menuitem-padding: 4px 8px !important;
}

/*** Proton Tabs Tweaks ***/

/* Adjust tab corner shape, optionally remove space below tabs */

#tabbrowser-tabs {
    --user-tab-rounding: 6px;
}

.tab-background {
    border-radius: var(--user-tab-rounding) var(--user-tab-rounding) 0px 0px !important;
    margin-block: 1px 0 !important;
}
#scrollbutton-up, #scrollbutton-down { /* 6/10/2021 */
    border-top-width: 1px !important;
    border-bottom-width: 0 !important;
}
/* Container color bar visibility */
.tabbrowser-tab[usercontextid] > .tab-stack > .tab-background > .tab-context-line {
    margin: 0px max(calc(var(--user-tab-rounding) - 3px), 0px) !important;
}

i opened firefox (v.95) and tried opening up my email and found that all my saved passwords were gone from firefox on my computer. it said i should crate a firefox account to get my logins back so i did and i still could not access any of my web logins. so i searched the help pages. opened up my profile n made a backup of my key3, key4, n loginjson files, downloaded v.91 firefox esr and copied my key3 file into a new profile.

so i still dont have my web logins ... n now i have an outdated version of firefox with none of my bookmarks either. im sick of troubleshooting n my wifi is almost out for the month.

how do i get my web logins and bookmarks back so i dont have to spend hundreds of hours recreating them?

I cannot log in to my Google account with Firefox. I get this message: You appear to have no security keys registered on your account, and won’t be able to sign in. To sign in on this device, ask your admin about registering a new security key or choosing another second step for verification.

I am the administrator of my account on Google Workspace. I have no idea what the problem is. I have MFA turned on and I am able to log in to Google with Chrome and Edge. I don't see an option on the Google Admin security tab to create a new security key. Please advise on a fix. Thanks

Until recently my browser accessed all the sites I have used for years and now I cannot access them. As an example the message I receive is "You don't have permission to access "http://booking.jetstar.com/au/en/booking/select-flights" on this server".

Reference #18.62052017.1660274157.1f6107dd Other sites like my banking site I can access freely on Edge but cannot on Firefox. No error message in that case, just says error try again. All this started after I loaded Norton. I have had them look at the system, and they have, but also point out that it is not them as I can access the site from Edge. I have looked at the help page and their are thousands of people with the same query but no fixes! As a long term supporter of Firefox I am disappointed that I now have to use Edge to do most of my business. HELP

I am constantly frustrated by unresponsive pages / script warnings etc using Firefox. This never used to happen on previous builds -- I am using the latest 86.0 -- but these occur so often that I am about to say goodbye to Firefox. This does not happen when I am using Chrome and other browsers.

I have been through all of the suggested steps to deal with these unresponsive script/page issues, and none has worked.

Would appreciate any help on this, but as I say I am about to leave Firefox at this point for Chrome and other browsers.

Thanks in advance...

Very similar to posts in previous years that are archived and largely unanswered or not up-to-date.

I opened up my a Firefox session to find out I was logged out of sync and when I logged back in all my passwords where erased.

This has been stable for the last 10 months and Firefox has provided a reliable password archive with nice syncing features. However, this is a deal breaker, since I cannot loose the login credentials randomly.

No updates. No conscious logging out. No disregarding warnings etc.

Anyway to revert or retrieve?

Hi, If you are not familiar with Medium.com, this site claims to track the reading time of a subscriber/reader when they read an article from Medium through a browser. This question is very important because the author of the article gets paid based on that person's reading time.

Given Firefox's privacy initiatives, I was wondering if Medium can in fact track a reader's reading time if the reader is using Firefox to view the site in a Private Window or tab? Does it matter if the reader blocks all the site's cookies with a cookie blocker?

Today I tried to place an online order to pickup from Texas Roadhouse, but no matter what time I chose a message said it was not available. The only selection that worked was "Earliest Available Time". Finally I called to place an order. Firefox worked 2 months ago but I don't recall which version I was using at the time.

Today I was using FF vers 97.x and later updated to vers 99.0.1 figuring that might be the problem, but it made no difference.

Later I tried Windows 10 Edge & that worked. Then tried a Chromebook & that also worked.

I've also had problems going to the Tracfone website & so have several other people. It's hit or miss with Firefox & usually it doesn't work. But Chrome or Edge seem to work for everyone.

Is this a website problem or a FF problem?

STOP forcing browser/plugin/extensions to run: Google, Bing, Amazon, DuckDuckGo, eBay, Wikipedia, and whatever else you are forcing down our throats

Several people have complained and NOBODY is listening. I specifically switched to FF so I don't have to deal with intrusive sites. FF I thought claimed to be UNLIKE GOOGLE and was more "private," so why are you putting in a Google browser/plugin/extension and forcing it to run on our PC's? I have enough crap on it taking up MEMORY and slowing it down, don't force anything people do NOT want. Just because these might be popular with many does NOT mean everybody wants it. Get rid of Google, Bing, Amazon, DuckDuckGo, eBay, Wikipedia, and WHATEVER else you are forcing us to run on FF.

Does FF have an agreement or partnering with these companies to TRACK US where ever we go on the internet? Looks like it. Per Wikipedia: DuckDuckGo earns revenue by serving ads from the Yahoo-Bing search alliance network and through affiliate relationships with Amazon and eBay. OK, so we have 4 of those And this at https://www.comparitech.com/blog/vpn-privacy/best-private-search-engine: DuckDuckGo displays ads for affiliate sites in the right sidebar, which is a little less aggressive than Google which presents ads at the top of search results. It earns additional profits from commissions from sites like Amazon and eBay, so you may want to be wary if those pop up a lot in search results. Also: As DuckDuckGo’s CEO, Gabriel Weinberg, explains in a Quora answer, the search engine does use your IP address to serve local results.

Why is FF pushing these sites when many of us do NOT use them nor want them? Why don't you add them as extensions where you can CHOOSE it if you wish? I found instructions on how to delete them in the FF File Explorer folder because merely deleting them in Settings does NOT remove them permanently as FF has them "hidden," however, they just come back and it messed up other add-ons. ALSO, these add-on's you are forcing on us is TAKING SPACE on my PC and I resent that.

I do NOT want to HIDE THEM, I want them REMOVED PERMANENTLY.

Win10 with what was Firefox 89. I had already disabled the Proton UI on this installation, because it is horrible. Today Firefox decided to update to version 91. All of the Proton UI junk is back. I tried disabling it again, but nothing worked. Doing a web search, it appears that Mozilla has disabled the ability to turn off Proton.

I then set about to rollback the installation back to version 89. I found a Mozilla link on this, went to their ftp server and downloaded the installation files for the last version of 89. The installation went normally, but when I opened Firefox afterwards, a little box popped up saying something to the effect of "To keep your History and Bookmarks from possibly being corrupted, Firefox must create new user profile." I exited out of this and Firefox didn't start. I attempted to restart Firefox again and the same box popped up again. The only way to get past it was to click the accept button.

I did so and Firefox started. This was clearly not version 89. As the UI is junk, it took several minutes to find out that this was now the latest version of 92!!!! I'm absolutely positive that I downloaded the correct file. When I look through the update history, it doesn't even show todays version 89 installation as happening. What a piece of junk.

I then spent 20 minutes figuring out how to revert back to my user profile, not the new one that it had created for me. I then did some research on what had happened. Well it turns out that you can't actually rollback Firefox, despite what Mozilla says. For a while they have added "downgrade protection" which automatically creates the new user profile and stops your old profile from being accessed by it. So unless you want to figure out how to spend a hundred hours reconstructing bookmarks, passwords, settings, etc. it actually isn't possible to rollback Firefox. Doesn't this violate some Microsoft rules about being able to uninstall versions of software from within Windows? If you try to do this with Firefox and go back to a previous version it blows everything up.

Does anyone know how to actually rollback Firefox to a previous version, so that Proton can be disabled?

What "security software" is the message talking about?

Hope you can help, because I don't want to go to another browser.

I added a plugin that enabled privacy.clearonshutdown for a number of settings and I have lost my Cache and History. Is there a way for me to restore that data? I haven't restarted my computer yet.

I was looking at other options: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1290163 and apparently there is an index.dat thing I could use as well, but I can't find it. I really can't afford to lose yet more data after my last mistake.

Greetings... I would like to increase the font size in right click menu box in FF 89.0 (64-bit) (see attached png)

I found a similar 2018 query here at: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1241117#answer-1174375

and based on that exchange I added the following to userChrome.css file

/* FONT SIZE IN RIGHT CLICK MENU BOXES 5/1/22 */

  1. mainPopupSet menuitem,
  2. mainPopupSet menu { font-size: 16pt !important; }

/* */

I closed and reopened FF. This change has no effect on the menu font no matter what font-size value I enter. Have I done something wrong?

Good day,

Really happy to see that mozilla is tightening up security. But unfortunately, I can't enroll into Two-Step Authentication everytime I enter code it's not being accepted. I tried multiple android apps of those codes and non of them work for me.

Because of that, I lost access to addons.mozilla.com account, because system doesn't let me in without 2step auth enabled.

Any chance I can use yubikey's intead of those auth apps? or anything else I can do?

I'm using Firefox 104.0.2 (64 bit) under Windows 11.

Under Settings I have selected Startup Open Previous Windows and Tabs.

I normally have more than a dozen tabs.

For the past few days, when I start Firefox my previous session is not restored and I just get the single Firefox tab.

When I got to History there is no longer a Restore Previous Session option.

How do I get it back?

Thanks

Ok, so I installed Firefox today, and tried to watch Discovery+, it kept saying it was installing components to play the audio and video and never seemed to actually install them. I finally figured out it's the widevine plugin sitting there with a yellow bar saying it's going to install soon but never does.

I went through nearly an hour of troubleshooting, and nothing has worked. I tried toggling the DRM option on and off, restarting the browser and PC, reinstalling Firefox, restarting my modem, disabling and enabling the plugin itself, going to all the streaming sites I use, attempting to manually install the plugin, etc.

As far as I know, I'm not using an antivirus, I don't have my VPN on, any other extensions or plugins, pihole, or anything else I saw in other support queries. I'm just going crazy trying to fix this since it seems nothing works.
