Since there was an attempted hack a few weeks ago that firefox interrupted I have been unable to access my electric utility account. I tried working through the company trying to sign in to no avail even after changing id's and passwords numerous times. They told me they have done all they can at their end. I really would like to talk to someone who can help me. I'm 73 years old and do use my computer that often and am not really computer savvy. If you can help me, my phone number is [phone number]. My wife called me in this afternoon when big red error message popped up "saying" it is a red alert and the web page used Apple's logo on it, said the old 2011 iMac, OS 10.10.5 Yosemite, is "blocked" and has a virus. It had an 877 phone number to call but we failed to write it down. She did nothing after that. When I saw that I pressed the red window page kill button, upper left. Got the rotating rainbow ball. . . computer working overtime. Next, Command-W to kill the webpage, nada. Finally, pressed the hardware ON/OFF button behind left side of screen. On SAFE restart I opened my account not hers and found Firefox had thin, white, flashing lines across the tab bar area(full width) and tabs were flashing individually. Every time you open a tab, this happens or possibly when it is accessing. So, I upgraded Firefox, leaving the OLD version intact. Upgrade I NOW notice is the 64 bit version.

Is there a fix out there? or, is this thing "infected" with the CCP virus or something? Fix for it?

I will shut down and re-open the old version and see if it still happens and post an update here.

I have tried everything that I can find to get rid of that damn searchitnow, which replaced my preferred Google Search. I've looked for downloads, extensions, everything. I've checked to make sure Google is my preferred search engine, and on and on. There is nothing. I have run Malwarebytes several times and it comes up clean.

How do I get this off my Mac? I am running OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.

Lately Malwarebytes is flagging firefox files for quarantine. I get messages like these daily now when I never saw any in the past many years of using Firefox and Malwarebytes.

Someone has logged into my new laptop's Firefox, I've changed my password but they keep logging into my accounts... paypal, amazon, credit cards. Please help me. They've charged almost $500 already

My computer was totally locked, even after I did hard reboot. Message on screen said to call "Microsoft" to unlock. It was not MS, but a company that "represented" MS. I don't know how they did gained access or if they are legitimate or scammers. Name of company is "Instantlivehelps" or Supreme Store. They wanted $350 to unlock the computer, which I have not yet paid. I have firefox, windows 10, and Norton 360 with lifelock and a secure VPN. Is there anything about Firefox that could have helped prevent this and if so, what can I do? I run a store off, so I have to be accessible. Also, I am very much a novice at this. Thanks.

My windows 10 is forcing me to update windows. If i ignore the warnings. it just kills my unsaved work and restarts my computer. To make it worse. After I start Firefox again is starts to update too. And after the update all my Open tabs and session info is completely killed. The first time it was annoying. be now it is a reason to go back to an other browser. The last time i checked i was still the owner of my laptop. and not Microsoft and not Mozilla!

If this bug is not fixed I uninstall Firefox. I need a browser i can rely on. not just doing what it wants.

I have twice now been infected with the tapufind redirect virus. I'd like to know how to protect myself or safely remove it with a recommended software if it happens again. I have refreshed my firefox each time and that seems to fix it, but it has come back so.....

Hello firefox users. an Unwanted Tab "Launchpage.org" is opening everytime I open firefox. im pretty sure this is malware but can'r remove it/find anything related to it in control panel/browser settings, tried to trouble shoot through google but no help. it opens up even if ive saved google as my homepage.

please lemme know if this can be fixed without resetting firefox to defaults

unfortunately my english is not so good, my protection software comes from Bitdefender and it`s called Bitdefender Total Security. When I open Mozilla, I get always a little Bitdefender Window with a message the the protection system has blocked a malware site https://milkpload.net But if i run the security scan, nothings comes up.

Is it possible that this site is stored in the moziolla browser ? because the warning comes also up without any internet connection.

May be somebody has an idea because I am only an end user :-)

good day. two days ago I was infected by poshukach probably when downloading Opera browser or a torrente file. So, whenever I initiate firefox I am redirected to poshukach browser instead. Question is: how can I get rid of poshukach? Thanks a lot

I don't know when and how exactly this thing was added to my firefox behind my back, I don't like it, I don't like Baidu Pan either but I have to use it.

I checked the extensions and add-ons, nothing suspicious was found.

Can you please help me remove it?

Firefox on Debian Linux with no modules or extensions enabled keeps installing a windows virus in it's cache. Other browsers don't do this so it's something with firefox.

Hi Guys, Firefox crashes now and then, and when it does, it changes my default search engine.

When this happens, "Browser Default" is added to 'search Shortcuts' and selected.

To revert back to Google, it has to be selected, and removed.

I have come to the conclusion, that this is a deliberate action, caused by some form of Malware or similar, as it is the only thing that appears to change, and always happens when Firefox crashes.

On the other rare occasions that Firefox crashes, it returns asking to return to previous sessions, and does so without issue - these crashes are extremely infrequent, however, the previous example is like clockwork.

Mozilla Installer Down Load Has a Virus!!!!!!! Luckily my AVG Caught it! Down Loaded Update and had to "Revert to an earlier time" to remove updates. Was instructed after GO BACK to Install complete new version, but Installer has virus (on Open) Use This for my Bank Account From Chase, but Chase WON'T let me use older version of your Browser. Running Win 7

There is a clicktripz.com window that has started opening whenever Firefox is started. It is not a tab, it is a pop-behind window which is now popping in front.

Hi While doing online banking (with Firefox, which I have on very high security settings), my computer began to partially freeze. I signed-out and then my computer was frozen and I powered-off the computer for safety. I started it again, and found that someone had replaced my Firefox with another version that had all of my settings removed. This was not an UPDATE by Firefox and I proved this. I checked my FIREWALL and some by the name of Igor Pavlov somehow was able to pass by my Kaspersky firewall; and, when I expanded his name, the evidence that he had indeed altered my Firefox (and perhaps more than once) was before my eyes! Shocking that he was able to alter my Firefox. Please see attachment.

Despite "denying" him in my firewall, I seem to continue to have problems with Firefox (freezing at times), even though I uninstalled the version that he put on, and reinstalled Firefox (which kept all of my old settings, as it always does with I reinstall or when updates are done). I am afraid to use Firefox right now, unfortunately.

At this point I want to entirely clean Firefox from my computer so that a reinstall does not recognize my past settings or anything else. Then reinstall fresh to see if that helps.

Do you have any other suggestions?
