Following the instructions given for the download and install of firefox 45 I can run it from the terminal but that is it. I can not find the information needed to complete the install. Also even though it runs 45 from the terminal the flash player is outdated and I ran into the same issue with that install as well. I am running Zorin 10 ultimate 64 bit OS. I have ran into issues with Ubuntu commands not working for Zorin on two different versions. This one and 9 core 64.

This problem occurs on many websites. I am unable to read text on some websites. This happens even with safe mode. This question is not about development. But I got a clue by using canvas tutorials. Everything works fine until I get to the exercises that use fillText(). When I do, each letter shows up as a rectangle that would just contain the letter. (I see it now on the buttons on this page and have to guess what the text on the buttons says.) strokeText works perfectly. I thought maybe my 3.6 had a bug in the canvas implementation, so I tried the 4.0 beta8 with the same results (note 6.0 beta same problem). Reading around it's clear that people are able to do this, so it seems like it's a configuration issue on my end, but I can't figure it out. Seamonkey on the same machine renders the text on canvas perfectly.

On my Linux Ubuntu system with Firefox 17.0.1 (and with several earlier releases, eg 12-16 I think) after a few weeks the tab triangle or arrowhead on one or more Firefox windows becomes defective. This problem is different from http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/931515 in that if I restart the browser and resume the Firefox session the problem goes away for a while. (Note: I will wait until 05:00 UTC on 28 Dec before restarting FF to clear the current instance of the problem, in case anyone can suggest other relevant tests or data.)
The main symptoms are these: Triple click no longer slides the list of tabs all the way left or right. Double click appears to work once (from an extreme end). Single clicks step the tab list one tab at a time up to near an extreme end but then stop working before the extreme tab becomes visible. The following paragraphs give some more details about the symptoms.
When the problem occurs, tabs for new pages (eg reached by links from the right-most visible tab and opened in new tabs) do not become visible (that is, are not squeezed into the list on the tabs bar). The right-facing triangle, although not grayed out, does not make the tabs for the newly opened pages visible, but seems to have no effect. Clicking the X for the right-most visible tab closes that page and then one of the tabs that are "hidden out to the right" becomes visible, but other tabs out to the right remain inaccessible.
Meanwhile, the tab triangle arrowheads continue to work ok on other FF windows. For example, the left and right tab triangles in this current FF window (where 15 tabs are visible for 17 pages open in the window) are working fine. But in the FF window with the problem (where 15 tabs are visible for 40 pages open in the window) the triangles stop working one tab too soon: they don't give access to the leftmost or rightmost tab.
Note, clicking + (Open a new tab) jumped the list to the right end, with the new tab and an empty page visible; but after I clicked the left triangle three times, so that the new tab scrolled off to the right, no matter how many times I click the right triangle, that tab remains invisible, even though the webpage for it is still visible as the currently selected page. Opening a URL from command line acts the same way.
The system runs Linux 3.2.0-35-generic #55-Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS x86_64 system with Firefox 17.0.1. I don't remember when I first encountered the problem but believe it was in 2011 (vs 2010) on a Fedora 7 system. Restarting FF has always cleared the problem. The command line "echo session $DESKTOP_SESSION desktop $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP; wmctrl -m" produces (in part)
session ubuntu-2d desktop Unity Name: Metacity
"top" shows, in part:
PID PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 3033 20 0 2158m 1.1g 38m S 7 28.7 3878:21 firefox
Note, I snipped 1200 lines of text from the Troubleshooting Information because the 50000 bytes in it pushed this post's length over the 30000 byte limit. All of the snipped lines started with "print.tmp.printerfeatures"

Firefox crashes when opening some pages, for example http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2517761
I've tried starting in safe mode, and it still crashes. I've followed all the steps at Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes to the best of my ability:
* Update Firefox: I'm using version 36.0
* Update your plugins: Plugin Status
These plugins are up to date: Adobe Flash PlayerShockwave Flash 11.2 r202, Silverlight Plug-In5.1.30514.0 Unknown Plugins: IcedTea-Web Plugin (using IcedTea-Web 1.5.1 (suse-4.1-x86_64)) (v. ), PackageKit (v. ), Skype Buttons for Kopete (v. ) Update Linux: automatic updates are enabled on openSUSE 13.2 and I get updates daily. Update your drivers: this I think is handled by the automatic updates Update your Internet Security software: I don't have any such software installed.
The crash still happens in Safe Mode crash ID 49efb45e-16b6-4919-b60c-e42d62150306

Immediately after I did I put a copy of places.sqlite from my profile in a safe place. places.sqlite seems to have thousands of urls in it. I am running 3.5.9 on FC11 (yeah I know I should upgrade but can't at the moment). Therefore I don't have "Help > Troubleshooting Information" available to me. Is there anything I can do (like upgrade to 3.6) to get the tabs back or are they gone forever?
Thanks for any help.

I am using Firefox 29.0.1, and it fails to end the process after opening Gmail. I am using the standalone Linux build on Ubuntu 10.04. All add-ons have been removed, and the theme is set to default. I have deleted the default profile and created a new one. I have also cleared browsing history, cookies, cache, etc., and reset Firefox.
During normal browsing, the process will close in about 1 second after exit. After checking Gmail, the process hangs continuously. I have waited for over 5 minutes for the process to close in Firefox 29, but I eventually had to kill it. This bug occurs every time I check Gmail. I have tested the latest Beta version, and the problem persists. I have also modified the History settings as mentioned in other posts, but the process still remained after exit. Please advise if additional information would be helpful.

Hello all. I just started to notice with the last Firefox upgrade (36.0 for Linux Mint 1.0) that when I go to certain sites a + sign pops up in my search bar magnifying glass and when I click on search bar space an entry at the bottom of the search bar's drop down list box (where the search suggestions show) appears that says "Add (whatever it wants me to add)". For instance right now It's showing "Add "Mozilla Support"". When I go to Youtube it says "Add "Youtube video search". On other sites, like Facebook, it doesn't happen. I don't want to see this and want to remove this functionality. How do I get rid of this behavior? I've tried turning off search suggestions and changing my default search engine (currently using Google but have tried others but no change in this behavior). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

the webpage of a product at walmart.com has the warranty information,
first open this link http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coolermaster-X-Slim-NotePal-Cooler/20564382
then click "Policies",
then in "Product warranty" click "See details", where you will see "Warranty Information: 1 Year Warranty"
When I did the above in Firefox, I clicked in its menu "File -> Print...", and chose print to file. The created file is a pdf file where most parts of the webpage are absent, including the warranty information.

When I right click, a left click is immediately fired which causes the first item to be selected. This is frustrating because the menu closes immediately.
Not sure what's going on. I tried downgrading Firefox and I tried a fresh profile. Nothing seemed to resolve this.
Initially I thought this was maybe a GTK3 issue, but I does not occur any other GTK3 application.
Any help?

I have noticed now in Firefox 60.0 on Linux, that I'm now unable to delete cookies.
If I'm using Facebook for example, then exit, I have always been able to go to the cookies and remove the Facebook cookie. However, even though it is not showing (Under Prefs, Privacy & Security / Manage data), the cookie is obviously still there, as when I then go to the FB site, I'm already logged in.
No cookies at all are showing under Firefox.

I am attempting to migrate my bookmarks from an old profile to my new Firefox which is an Ubuntu snap install. I did not make a backup I can use. The instructions I am following are published here:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
I copied the following files from my old profile and pasted them to overwrite those in the new profile. But the bookmarks are not visible in my new FF.
cert8.db (cert9.db in Firefox 58 and above) content-prefs.sqlite cookies.sqlite formhistory.sqlite key3.db (key4.db in Firefox 58 and above) permissions.sqlite places.sqlite favicons.sqlite (Firefox 55 and above) webappsstore.sqlite
The following additional files mentioned in the above article were not present in my old profile, and I am uncertain why missing , or if they are required.
chromeappsstore.sqlite logins.json (Firefox 32 and above) mimeTypes.rdf persdict.dat signons.sqlite (Firefox 31 and below) signons3.txt (if exists)
When the above file transfer produced no result, I checked places.sqlite file within the old profile and found this (screenshot). I am not sure how to interpret it.
https://app.box.com/s/s1ifii15w8ut3uvzs371izyvyt18dbfb
I also checked all the other .sqlite files listed above and there is no evidence of a bookmark list.
Here is the only part of prefs.js that references places.sqlite in the new FF install.
user_pref("signon.importedFromSqlite", true); user_pref("storage.vacuum.last.index", 1); user_pref("storage.vacuum.last.places.sqlite", 1538270926);
Can someone please suggest a solution?
