I've used FF for years. I know how to make Folders and Subfolders in Bookmarks. I know how to add a "New Folder" either to the main list or to an existing Folder.... or at least I did.

Suddenly Folder and Subfolder making in Bookmarks is random, unpredictable and wrong.

I always 2-click on the Star, drop down arrow on the Right side of the Folder line, choose the already established folder into which I wish to add a new Subfolder, click "New Folder" and ....everything now goes wrong.

Instead of opening a Subfolder (tentatively named "New Folder") and allowing me to name it appropriately and then saving that bookmark into that Subfolder, most of the time clicking on "New Folder" (after I've already clicked on the previously established folder) causes 1 of 2 incorrect outcomes:

1) It may cause ALL of the following: (see image)

a) a renaming of the parent folder (to what I intended to name the subfolder)

b) the creation of a "New Folder" inside that folder which remains named "New Folder"

c) and the placement of the bookmark in the now wrongly renamed parent folder and NOT into the un-renamed "New Folder" subfolder.

OR

2) It may completely randomly cause "New Folder" to open up in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder.

Either way, this is completely broken. I tried a restart since there is nothing to update but that has made no difference.

I'm using Windows 8.1, FF latest version 47.0.1

Thank you for fixing this.

Every time I enter a website into my address bar Firefox blocks my going there and redirects me to Frontier. I installed an addon to stop this and now I can't get anywhere. What is WRONG with Firefox? Frontier SUCKS!!!! All I want to do in go to www.nerdsrustore.com and I get a message for 1 second that says Firefox has blocked access to this site with a box that says allow, but 1 second is not enough time to click allow. I'm ready to dump Firefox and go back to internet explorer.

I just upgraded to the most recent version of Firefox and am now unable to zoom in and out at all. Has this feature been disabled? How do I get it back? I'm using a Mac desktop, running OS X 10.7.5 (Lion, I believe). The Firefox version is 47.0. The zoom buttons still show up but do nothing when I click on them. I've also tried the key commands. Has anyone run into this yet? Any known fixes?

Just started 47.0 for the first time. Previous session had 28 tabs, 17 in top row and 11 in the bottom. I wanted to move the penultimate tab couple places to the left. I did. But when I let go, it jumped where I wanted it, but in the top row. I _cannot_ move any of the tabs from top to bottom row. Whichever tab I move within the bottom row ends up in the top one. Tabs in the top row can be moved right only as far as the last tab in the bottom row. Another improvement is getting rid of the little x tab-closers. It's either Ctrl+W or right-clicking-and-going-through-the-menu thing. Much faster, I guess? Double the number of clicks and provide an opportunity to do reading exercises and miss what one needed to click on. I guess the next step will be to get rid of keyboard shortcuts, as too confusing - after all, what's the point of keyboard on the phone?

Seriously: could someone point me to somewhere where there is some justification for this improvement and information on how to get rid of it? Did not see it in release notes.

My Firefox is up to date. I am trying to use a second laptop. My other one is up to date and works fine. Using Windows XP on both. I can navigate to my various websites OK and they load. As soon as I sign in, I am presented with a blank page on every one of them. My email client works fine, even when that blank page is present, so my internet connection is OK. I have rebooted and cleared Firefox several times. I am confused.

I have read so many articles on this problem, and have found no solution yet. Only some of my favicons, which were previouly good, have disappered. They were repalced by 'blank page' images where the favocons should be on my Firefox favorites toolbar. Here is a short list of them: the BBC, The Washington Post, HebCal date converter, CapitalOne, FedLoan, US Bank, The Veterans Administartion, and Google. I don't recognize a pattern in the types of websites and ALL these favicons appear in Internet Explorer and Google Chrome...very strange. This happened more than six month ago. I have read more online articles, and tried more things than I can expalin here. I picked up a few nasty viruses along the way chasing help that hurt and caused enough grief that i really didn't need. So, I am asking y'all at Firefox to help, PLEASE. Thank You.

I'm using Firefox 47.0 and this is the second time I've been on a normal site (this time was walmart.com) that the screen turns into an ad for Firefox and a pop-up comes up asking me to save the file for "firefox-patch.js" The rest of the pop-up says "javaScript File (609 bytes) from oazeispettegola.net" I have malwarebytes and Norton installed on my computer, and neither scan shows anything. I'm guessing it's not an actual JavaScript installation, so if anyone has experienced this and can help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

The nicest folks down at Adobe have seen fit to blow away Adobe Flash support for Linux. I guarantee you, there's nothing wrong down there, I guarantee. < That line sounds familiar, I'm trying to place the Joker.

I blew away the out-of-date Flash plugin, and about a month or so ago, followed the instructions in this next reference, to replace it with gnash and liblightsparkplugin.so.

https://www.linux.com/learn/weekend-project-open-source-alternatives-adobe-flash-linux

I am running Linux Mint 17.3 MATE 64-bit with Firefox 47.0.

liblightsparkplugin was worthless. It never performed a lick of work. I may have this figured out why: After I installed it, Firefox knows of it, but perhaps the file disappeared. I attempted to uninstall and it does not exist. "apt-get remove" didn't find it, Package Manager didn't find it, Software Center did not list it as either available to install or to indicate that it was installed. Find command did not find the file on my computer. I seem to have a "registry" entry in my Firefox profile pointing to the missing file.

A shot in the dark: I searched about:config for the file name. Nothing.

What file might I look in in my Profile that is holding this dead-end reference?

Seeing that the "Lightspark" source in the Linux.com reference seems to have nothing to download, what do we have in 2016 to do Flash in Firefox?

Here is what I can do with the installed plugin: It identifies as Shockwave Flash 12.1 r720 (more...). I click more, it identifies the file as liblightsparkplugin.so. I can set the plugin to never enable, always ask, always enable.

When never enabled, the interactive Flash-powered site is asking for Adobe Flash. (Such nice folks!) When always ask, the site asks to enable the plugin. Once enabled, the Flash content area is blank. When always enabled, the Flash content area is blank. Seems in keeping with a missing file.

I can watch CNN video, not CBSN News or ABC News. If I switch off the dead plugin I can watch MSNBC.

Ever since the release of version 3, or slightly before, Firefox has continued to crash and I can't seem to find an answer. I wish that I was trolling or making a joke, but this is the honest truth.

Systems I ran it on: Socket 939 AMD Athlon x2 2GB ram 500GB HDD (Seagate) (Can't remember GPU) Win XP

Socket AM3 AMD Phenom II x6 1045t 8GB ram 1333mhz 1TB HDD (Seagate) HD 5570, 6570, and 7770 Ati Radeon GPUs, aswell as a Nvidia 750ti Win7

Socket AM3+ AMD FX 8350 (8 core, 4ghz) 16GB ram 2100mhz 2*2 TB (Seagate) R9 270x Win 10, and Win7

Symptoms: After a few hours of browsing, watching videos, or simply leaving it idle with 4-5 tabs open causes it to prompt with Unresponsive script errors, become unresponsive and force me to open task manager and force the task to end.

Versions 3 through (now) 40.

Made multiple posts regarding this issue before, but it has gone unanswered.

Is it my usage that forces me to use other browsers? Is it just me imagining things that Mozilla Suite, Seamonkey, original Firefox(up until version 2) worked absolutely fine no problems? When version 3 came out, I used Lolifox for a while until they stopped managing it (before version 3) and it, too, worked flawlessly.

I'm legitimately concerned, because I do web development. I can't be constrained under 4 tabs, and I can't have a main used browser be so inconsistent when trying to develop for all browsers in mind.

Checked: Video card driver is up to date (Unsure about the past, but definitely is now, although I'm pretty sure it was in the past, too.) Hard drive has no errors or fragmentation. Recently reformatted, fresh install of Windows 7. Same issue previously from version 35-38 on previous OS, Windows 10. Other browser work correctly, don't become unresponsive, nor do they crash.

Hi- I have researched this extensively and have tried ALL the popular suggested tasks online to combat FF's high CPU usage. My FF system eats up 275k-350k of memory even while I have tried shutting down most processes and programs and FF add-ons and in Safemode, too. Also uninstalled it twice. Nothing works.

I'm using a: Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit Intel-Core i7-4770k Processor 3.50 GHZ 32 GB RAM. Machine is (clone) only 2 years old.

What are solutions that are not listed on your Help Pages here for this issue as all solutions seem to be more or less the same from everyone here?

Thank you, Steven

PS: I have no desire to use MS I.E. or other browsers. I'm otherwise happy and too rooted down with FF to switch.

Many people seem to be reporting recently that they are getting an orange fake "Urgent Firefox Update" screen popping up and then a download box for firefox patch.exe or such. It is my impression that this may be a security flaw.

It tends to happen when I have several windows open with Facebook and newssites, and it happens very quickly so I can't be 100% sure what happens, but it is my impression that a new tab is created with the orange screen. It seems this happens without my clicking on anything, I may be just sitting there reading and suddenly this happens. I wonder if it is an exploit emanating from ads on these newssites that takes control of Firefox and gets it to make the new tab. If so this is very disturbing because I have my Firefox on quite secure settings, my Java is Never Activate, most of my plug-ins including Flash are Ask to Activate and I rarely do need to activate it. In addition, I am careful which websites I go to. I have Firefox up to date and on automatic update. Every time I start my computer I make sure Kaspersky has updated before I start browsing.

The exploit has happened 3 times in the past week including both yesterday and today. The first time, even though I did not click on the install dialog, Kaspersky detected a Dangerous Object being downloaded and quarantined it instantly. I then had Kaspersky delete it. It had downloaded to the AppData Local Temp folder. The second and third time, nothing happened immediately so I had time to look. I closed Firefox and it seemed that prevented those instances from downloading, as Kaspersky did not detect anything either instantly or after Full Scan.

I am wondering if this is a security flaw in Firefox and if I need to switch to Chrome. Any help would be appreciated In the meantime as I much prefer Firefox. I will limit my browsing to the most essential, avoid clicking on any links in Facebook and try to avoid newssites.
