I run FF 38.0.1 on Win7. I download MP3 files from our audiobook forum by right clicking on the link and selecting "save as". Since moving to FF38, using "save as" method to download a file gives me only a file fragment. I am able to use "save as" to download the complete MP3 file with IE or Chrome.

The issue seems to arise across the board on all of the MP3 files on our open projects.)

We have quite a few FF users among our audiobook community - and several people have now reported this problem when they updated their FF to FF38. This was not an issue with earlier versions of FF. None of the other reports indicate what OS is being used. We download both MP3 and FLAC files, and the people with this problem have it with all files that they try to download using FF (so it's not that some MP3s can be saved and others can't - the "save as" function doesn't work for any of them). They also report no issues using Save As to download any files using IE or Chrome.

One of our forum users reported that if you begin playing the MP3 file by opening the link to the MP3 in a new tab, you can then navigate to the new tab, right click anywhere in the page and click "save page as" to successfully download the MP3 file. I have tried this and it does work. But it would be quicker to be able to use "save as" without having to begin playing the audio file first in a new tab.

I have tried using "save as" to download an MP3 file for one of our finished projects which are hosted over at Internet Archive. That works fine, and "save as" results in the entire MP3 file being downloaded. I am using Firefox 38 on Windows 7. I can download some pdf files, but not always. Sometimes I get the error

"C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Temp\[tempfilename].part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read." I also sometimes get the message "pdf file is corrupted"

I tried disabling add-ons and restarting in safe mode, but that didn't help either

If I click the shortcut, I can choose to open it directly or to download it. I choose open in with excel (2013) but before doing that, the file download first and then opens in excel. If I refresh firefox, the problem is solved but after one session, the problem occurs again. Other times, it last for a week or serveral weeks and then occurs again. Some pc's have this problem, others don't. All have the latest updates of firefox / windows... There's no logic explanation, it occors with windows 7 - 10 thanks in advance...

Title pretty much covers it: When I try to download .exe files Firefox says "Unknown time remaining - 0 bytes (0 bytes/sec)"

I've already tried all the tips suggested here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cant-download-or-save-files#w_check-the-downloads-panel-for-blocked-downloads But none of them worked.

The only antivirus software I have installed is Windows defender. I have done a bunch of Firefox refreshes, but to no avail. And I did a fresh install of windows just days ago. I also have a lot of add-ons installed, but I was already having this issue the first time I started Firefox so it can't be them.

The issue seems to be limited to .exe files, but I'm not sure about that.

I just installed the new version of FireFox 63.0 (32-bit) and when I download files now I frequently get download failed. When I click on the retry button it downloads the file, but I never had to do that before the new version.

Recently whenever I save an image in firefox to my desktop or a desired folder, the image is saved as a jfif file. This makes it complicated to upload images to my website and I now need to convert all the files before I can use them. It doesn't matter if I "save as" or drag and drop, the result is the same. How can I stop this from happening? I don't want to switch browsers as I've always used firefox but this issue poses a major inconvenience for me when I'm working.

In FF you go Tools ---->options-----> Files & applications -----> downloads . Then you check box for "Always ask where you save files" Does NOT work. You get no chance to choose location or even and esp to rename a file from something like " abd345%" to something sensible like "hsbc 31 May 2018" Files just "disappear " to I've no idea where. Anybody help?

Suddenly I can't download any smaller file on firefox. It started to happen probably from last firefox update. Every file is - failed. Only files that i can download are bigger files (+100mb) but these files are also interrupted so you must always "retry" them. Smaller files simply fail to download.

I tried many things from troubleshooting tutorial but nothing works. I have many tabs, sessions, bookmarks etc that I don't want to disappear so I don't want to delete profile.

I had downloaded some power points n articles from google drive . some of them were failed to download. i deleted them from history. i uninstalled mozilla and installed it again but still as i start a new session download symbol gets activated and library is full of failed downloads !!!! something virus or what ?????

Yesterday all files and folders on my (win10) desktop suddenly got two blue arrows on them. I googled the problem and it turned out that the desktop folder had gotten the setting for compressing all its content turned on. I changed it back to no compression and the arrows disappeared. Today it happened again, and I changed it back again. However, I noticed that all newly downloaded files are still getting compressed. I made a new folder for the downloads (previously the went straight to the desktop), and the files I copied in to it are fine but all new downloads from FF still get compressed. When I download from Chrome it's fine.

Is this a Firefox problem? I looked through the settings but can't find anything relating to compression.

I've tried to download 2 items the latest being a weather forecaster and they both tell me to click the "allow" button but none can be found. I did go to preferences>security>warn>exceptions> and clicked the "allow" button and saved it but that didn't work.

Recently, for no apparent reason, Firefox has started crashing whenever I download anything. Whether it be me hitting save when saving an image, or downloading an executable from somewhere, it's always the same. Firefox immediately hangs and stops responding, forcing me to exit out via the task manager. No error report is created in about:crashes either. I have a similar issue in Chrome, where if I download anything it stops downloading with 0 seconds remaining and just sits there, however Chrome doesn't crash during. This issue is really debilitating to my workflow, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox using an executable I had to download and copy from another computer. If someone could help me with this issue, you'd be a godsend. Thank you for your time.

For several weeks, files downloaded during my browser session were automatically deleted when I exited Firefox. The problem may have been limited to html pages downloaded using "Save Page As...", but could have been regular downloaded files as well, but I didn't notice.

I believe that I was running 64.x (sorry I don't remember the dot release number).

I think I narrowed it down to the configuration option, "[ x ] Browsing & Download History" under Privacy & Security, Settings for Clearing History. I have always had this box checked, and downloads never disappeared before, just as the option description implies.

Then, a Firefox pop-up jumped in my face and told me to upgrade to 65.0, which I did.

Now my downloads don't seem to be deleted any more.

HOWEVER, I looked at the list of fixes for version 65.0, and saw NO MENTION of this problem, so I am asking you to confirm whether or not this was a known problem that was fixed in version 65.0, or if you think I am experiencing an intermittent problem that may return to haunt me when conditions are right.

I tried to download a 37GB game overnight and it almost worked but got stuck at 33GB. I got a message saying "failed" but I can continue the download. When I continue it goes on for some seconds and gets stuck again

The browser saves any downloaded filesto the system "Temp" folder, not to my chosen "Downloads" on the system drive. When you select the "Always prompt for path" option, nothing changes. What could be the problem and how to fix it?

Anything I download I get the message "An error occurred while loading the archive." I get the same message on anything I try to download, for example Itunes, just anything.

had to download firefox so i could download important work software. Firefox says my work download possibly malicious & wont let me. I have hit all allow buttons. I am also not very computer literate. HELP
