I need to install Firefox on a computer which does not have a browser. The operating system on this computer is Windows 7 Home Premium (2009). I have another computer which does have Firefox. The operating system on this computer is Windows 7 Professional (2009). I am able to move files between these two computers. Please help.

On my last upgrade in Firefox (version 25.0), the next time I opened Firefox, I was asked to install the extension Buttersurf.. I have done some reading about this and it is a maleware. Why are you allowing this extension??? I deleted all signs of it from my computer.

I've using Firefox for many years on my computer. However, yesterday it was the first time that this message popped up.

"the version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher"

My computer is a Lenovo Z570 Windows 7 and uses a 64-bit Operating System

There are several posts on this site regarding uninstalling Firefox. I am running current Firefox on current W10 64bit 1903 desktop PC using Ethernet with Spectrum as my ISP. I am having a couple of problems in Firefox that are not happening in current Chrome. 1. Page-not-found 2-8 times a day that resolve every time by simply clicking the "retry" (or something close to that) button. I reset my router to "factory" and installed most current router firmware but that did not help. Netgear Support has been unable to help. 2. In current LastPass addon, I have to re-login to LastPass every time I start Firefox - did not used to do that (a year ago), and in Chrome or Edge that does not happen. I have re-installed the LastPass add-on. I have upgraded Firefox many times and have cleared history/cache many times. So now I want to COMPLETELY remove Firefox, reboot, and then install Firefox from scratch. Can someone please point me to the web page that tells me how to properly remove all of Firefox so that I can re-download/install it from the beginning? I do not care about retaining my Firefox settings or other from my current Firefox install.

im not sure i can live with this. i need my original firefox back. this version is no good. how do i get the previous theme with my orange firefox button and grey top ?

im am positive that i did not say to update. it just did it on its own. now its gay blue. whats worse is there is a gradient into the gay blue. horrible and i need help to get rid of it.

it wouldve made more sense to put the icons on the left. and leave the search on the right where it belongs.

if i redownload 28, how do i stop it from updating again?

FIREFOX has deleted ALL my TABS. That is A LONG YEAR OF RESEARCH LOST for trusting this bunch of amateurs who have no clue as to how to run a company and offer NO customer service whatsoever!!!

I tried renaming the sessionstore.bak to sessionstore.js as I read here in the forums, and the right-clicked on sessionstore.js > Properties > Previous Versions, but it didn't work, the about:sessionstore.js is empty!!!

One thing that I notice is that my system has only saved VERY OLD PREVIOUS VERSIONS, but 2014 and even 2011!!!!

Then i did a system restore to the closed point - two weeks ago, which is FAR TOO OLD, but better than nothing. Now Firefox DOES NOT START. It gives me a little error message saying that "Couldn't load XPCOM."

Rather than constantly making USELESS updates to Firefox and forcing my computer to take them on every restart, Mozilla SHOULD spend some resources on debugging and customer services!!!!

My Firefox won't update automatically anymore. Even if I check on Help --> About Firefox, it runs for a while and then it says it is updated. I have another FF installation on my work laptop, and it correctly picks up updates, this version on pc doesn't.

Please, I have already tried manually updating to the latest firefox a few weeks ago: I am now running version 42 here. Yet, today my work pc got updated to 43.0.2, and this one doesn't.

I would not like to completely remove FF in order not to loose my add-ons, could you please guide me to reinstate normal auto-update feature?

In Firefox 63 the option to never check for updates was removed. The release notes suggest to create a policies.json to disable updates. This does not result in similar behaviour! It does indeed stop the checks for updates, but it also disables the option of manually checking for updates. So this is not the same!

I'd like to know how I can disable the auto checking for updates, but keep the option to manually check and update.

I found this thread regarding a beta version of Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1232918 but that does not give an answer to my question.

I typically check for updates every few days, but I do not want Firefox to check automatically and/or install without my express permission. I seem to be left with renaming the policies file every time I want to check for updates. Cumbersome and very user unfriendly.

I would like to get back to the behaviour I have used for many years. To wit: I click on 'About Firefox' and I can see the version number without any checks or updates starting without my consent. I am presented with a button to check for updates. If I click it, I am presented with either a message stating I am up to date, or an option to update without it automatically doing so. And only if I then click to confirm that I indeed want to update, it starts downloading said update and installing it. This is what I want back please. How do I make that happen? Thanks.

I just noticed that I have an old (63.0.3) and a new (66.0.3) version of Firefox on my computer. I have no idea when or how this happened. Seems to work fine at the moment.

One is Mozilla Firefox 63.0.3 (x64 en-US) (170 MB). One is Mozilla Firefox 66.0.3 (x64 en-US) (175 MB). So my guess is this happened a while ago.

Both show up when I look at Apps & Features. Both are listed in Revo uninstaller.

There are two identical Firefox icons.

If I open one and check the version number in the program, it does show a different number depending on which icon I clicked to open the program. So there are definitely two versions.

They are sharing information. They open the same pages in several tabs that I had open when I closed the the program the last time.

I want to get rid of one but don't want to lose my many settings, bookmarks, etc. I don't want to risk everything by just Uninstalling the old version, unless I can be sure that it is safe.

Everything on my HP-PC is up to date.

my uBlock is on but ads still play on youtube my stylish doesn't have any of the styles i've installed anymore and every time i try to install a new one firefox freezes firefox color no longer automatically applies my theme (i have to go find the website and select it) and i lost the ability to load outlook.com/owa but thanks to a trick another user here (FredMcD) taught me (Manage data/Forget this site) i was able to regain access to it.

Also I would hope that it goes without saying but any responses suggesting Resets/Nukes will be ignored and reported. Let's try to work together to get this issue sorted out.

Hello, my Laptop Lenovo T420 Pentium 64Bit 4GB Ram Installed fresh Windows 10 1809 plus Firefox 64Bit. In order to use my profile I copied the Profile from my old laptop. Because I am not familiare with this process, I got problems to get the new Firefox to recognize my tranfered profile. Tried using the profilemanager to enter the new Firefox. Hit Windows-Symbol plus R to open command window, entered firefox.exe -p and got following Message:

Die Verbindung mit dem Server www.xn--p-5gn.com schlug fehl. (e.g. connection failed).

Searched entire sytem and registry, no match found. Did also check the system using program Malwarebytes. The Firefox itself is working correctly and the profile of the old Firefox has been correctly imported. I am concerned how (reproduceable) this site is called instead of the profilemanager. A small notification stating "critical Firefox update needed", or something like that. I downloaded the most recent version, deleted the old one from my desktop, and opened the new one, and ALL my bookmarks are now GONE! How do i get them back???

Just OK'ed the v20.0 push upgrade. Tried to download files as I had always done.

Was very surprised by the new interface and process. Frankly, it's a step backward and really leaves alot to be desired.

Is there anyway to change the config back to the download process/interface model of v19.x?

My updates are automatically set to update on their own with Firefox. As soon as they were done my anti-virus notified me that I had one Trojan virus and 2 others. Please help!

Long time user (15-20 yrs?), I have been avoiding the "next" upgrade for several years for various reasons (hate change, fave add-ons go away, hate change, not broke-don't fix, hate change...). But I am now running into a few websites that won't permit this browser, so it may be time to move on. With heavy adblocking and tracker-blocking and my benign web browsing habits, I've not been concerned about security (never had a virus in 20 years - knock wood). It's just full functionality and slowness at this point. At this point, I see even my Classic Theme Restorer is no longer available, so I'll just have to bite the bullet on aesthetics and deal with a modern browser. However, a couple of things are unclear:

1. does 20 years of bookmark history (and remembered history) affect memory footprint. I only refer to existing bookmarks occasionally these days and may consider a full purge. Partial purge would probably be too time-consuming. Maybe even a full profile purge might be worthwhile for a true clean slate. Maybe FF has come a long way and old extensions and settings won't be necessary. I also have several about: settings that I may (or may not?) miss.

2. Are automatic updates unavoidable in newer versions? I read about "manual" but it sounded temporary.

3. The permissions on many potential add-ons I've looked at are quite unnerving... e.g many of them require full access to ALL my data (usernames and passwords!!!) and I know the function has no need for such. Who has time to investigate these fully for safety? Is there any anti-malware vetting required for add-ons to be available?

4. I know newer is generally faster, but FF has a history of growing and slowing down after upgrades. My hardware isn't getting any newer (although its more than ample for my current needs), but software tends to be developed on latest and greatest hardware. How does latest FF compare to circa V41 in memory usage?

In any case, I thought I would give the latest vesion a whirl on my old Vista laptop (which is currently at V43) and check it out before plunging in on my W7 work PC or home PC. Any answers or insight into such a big jump are much appreciated.

After the most recent Firefox updates, I wasn't able to load Facebook anymore, so I looked up whether I could reinstall Firefox without losing all my bookmarks and settings. I followed the advice given on this support page by renaming the folder "OldFirefox" and then reinstalling Firefox, but everything has been lost (or at least seems to be). What I don't understand is when I right click over the new Firefox icon (after the reinstall) and look at the properties, instead of pointing to the folder ...Mozilla/Firefox.exe, it's pointing to ....OldFirefox/Firefox.exe. It's as if the install didn't create a new Mozilla folder in the directory, even though it was supposed to during the install. Is there a way to get back what I lost? I feel like I'm going to throw up right now. I had an enormous amount of things bookmarked and saved. Thanks for any help.

I give up. Step one (this happens under Windows 7/32)

FF offered to upgrade from 15.01 to 19.0. I let it, it could not complete (patch failed). So I downloaded it and installed it (upgraded). All nice - but impossible to use the browser, or the google search. One types the address or the query and nothing happens. So I reverted to a previous version of windows and all was well.

Step two.

I install on a different machine, Windows 7/64. All works, but I have a hell of a time moving the settings. After an hour or more, all is well. So I decide that 19.02 will work on the 32 bit machine as well...

Step three. I upgrade FF to 19.02 from the 15.01. All works, I am happy. I do some other things, stopping FF in between. The next time I start it, no go. Impossible to go to a website or to search. Hmmm, I think...

Step four. Uninstall FF. Wash the disk so there are no remnants. Download and install FF 19.02 using IE. It does not work!

So: does anyone have an idea why? Here are some more weird things:

- on the first try (step one), all worked perfectly well outside the FF home page. I could click on links to get to website, I could type new addresses to the bar and go to new websites, I could click on my google link and search. But NOT from the home page.

- I tried to look at settings. Played with proxies (no proxy being my choice, but I also try aytomatic detection). Nothing. So I clicked on help - and that is how I got here and can write this,

And no, resetting won't help, there is nothing to reset!

Just installed Adblock Plus on both IE8 and Firefox 37 – got successful messages on both. Checked on IE8, ABP is working great. Went onto Firefox and its not working.

Went to Windows add/remove programs… found the IE version BUT the Firefox version is not present. Went back and tried to install Adblock Plus again and got the following message:

“Adblock Plus could not be installed because Firefox could not modify the needed file”

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

WHAT CAN I DO TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM?

PS: I fully removed Firefox 36 with Revo and reinstalled version 37 – same problem.

After I first got the message I uninstalled Ffox and reinstalled it. Same message. So I can't get to any ffox menu, or buttons because I only have the one page with the message.

One suggestion was to uninstall and delete "firefox program file" but I can't find any file with that name on the C drive Mozilla Firefox folders

What can I do?
