 2. While i'm watching youtube, doing word processing (.txt) or when i set the PC to 'Sleep' mode,
     my screen either freezes w the display or turns black.  In both cases, my mouse and keyboard
     won't work.  Thus, i have to re-boot to fix.  Even Control-Alternate-Delete won't work to get out
 3.  Request not to keep on showing your pop-up window at top RH corner saying:
      Update Available
      Download the latest ...
     <Download> <Dismiss>
    Hey, either one of those two buttons won't stop blocking my top RH corner of the screen.  It's rediculous.
    Even after i hit <Download>, the same pop-up shows up again n again.  Same w <Dismiss>.
    Just remind me once per week.  And don't crash my PC!!!

4. There is no 'Community' info on this annoying update pop-up problem. Just stop it!

I am Firefox ((firefox-esr (128.14.0esr-1~deb13u1)) using Debian 13 with i3wm and XFCE for some weeks now. I switched from Endeavour OS were I had the same issue: Firefox crashes multiple times a day. I tried several things: started Firefox without add-ons, with a new profile, fresh install, deleted cookies and history. But still Firefox crashes all the time, very frustrating. What could be the reason for this? I'd be glad for any leads.

Since updating to version 135 all the tabs crash. I've uninstalled\reinstalled, deleted app data, disabled AV and created a new profile. The only time it works is in troubleshooting mode. I've looked at extensions and plugins and I'm only seeing OpenH264 video codec and Widevine content decryption. I've disabled those but still get the crashed tabs.

I'm also not generating any crash logs.

Over the past few weeks, tabs keep crashing several times a day. It happens most often on X, but this morning, a tab crashed while completing an online order (grrr). My computer is up to date, cookies, cache and history cleared regularly and today I "refreshed" Firefox. In less than an hour, tab crashed again. What is going on???

I'm very close to changing browsers.

Does anyone know if the crashes are because of my drivers or Windows not being up to date? Never had this issue with Opera before.

Firefox always crashes on first launch; previous session tabs are forgotten

1. Whenever I open Firefox for the first time since boot, it crashes, and I have to click on it a second time for a window to actually show up. Once it shows up, it's for… (tuilleadh eolais)

1. Whenever I open Firefox for the first time since boot, it crashes, and I have to click on it a second time for a window to actually show up. Once it shows up, it's forgotten all about the previous session - none of my tabs re-open, the window opens up maximized.

2. Whenever I close the last open window, my previous tabs are completely forgotten. Checking task manager reveals that there are 10 or 11 Firefox processes that are still running.

  • I have a second Windows 11 device that DOESN'T exhibit any of these issues and works correctly. Closing Firefox does not leave any running processes around.
  • "Open previous windows and tabs" is enabled in options.
  • "Firefox will: Remember history" is set in the History options.
  • Both devices are running Firefox 137.0.2 64 bit.

I get random crashes while streaming video (for example youtube). I am using a laptop with 2 GPUs (integrated AMD and dedicated Nvidia) and a secondary monitor. If the Fi… (tuilleadh eolais)

I get random crashes while streaming video (for example youtube). I am using a laptop with 2 GPUs (integrated AMD and dedicated Nvidia) and a secondary monitor. If the Firefox windows is on the laptop display I never get crashes but on the secondary display I get around 1-2/hour. Also, this only happens with hardware acceleration enabled in Firefox settings, if I deactivate it then the issue is gone. I think it runs on the AMD integrated graphics, based on what I see in task manager. I also have uBlock origin, haven't tried deactivating it yet. The crashses consist in a black screen from which I can only recorver by doing a hard reset.

Any suggestions on what to try?

Attempted to do an Firefox update more than a month ago on my HP (microsoft windows) computer. Everytime I open my computer I gt the Firefox Crash Reporter Window. When I hit the Quit firefox box it submits the crash report and then I X out the box. I cannot use Firefox as a browser. The DISASTER is that I CANNOT open any files previously downloaded while using Firefox (eg PDF files). I get the crash report box. I NEED these files!

Please HELP!

Forced quit clears all cookies and logs out of all sites in Firefox

When I close a video site tab, Firefox freezes and becomes unresponsive. After restarting Firefox from a force quit, I sometimes see a message like: “Bookmarks may not be… (tuilleadh eolais)

When I close a video site tab, Firefox freezes and becomes unresponsive. After restarting Firefox from a force quit, I sometimes see a message like: “Bookmarks may not be visible or things may not look normal. Another instance of Firefox is running.” (I don’t remember the exact wording.) In that case, my bookmarks look like they are missing. If I close Firefox again and restart it, the bookmarks reappear, but I am logged out of every site and have to add all my accounts again from the beginning.

This means I have to log back into every single account again, like YouTube and others, which is very inconvenient.

I’ve been using Firefox for over 10 years, and I’ve never experienced this problem before. It doesn’t happen all the time, but it occurs periodically — sometimes every few days, sometimes every few weeks. This never used to happen in the past.

Please, I really need help with this issue. If I back up my cookies beforehand, would restoring them after such a crash bring everything back to normal?

I tried multiple times in the last few days. The only mail I got from Mozilla is one asking me to log in to change my password. But obviously, I can't log in.

New tabs always crash

I keep having an issue on my desktop of every new tab I open crashing. I can access the homepage, but if I put anything into the search bar, the screen goes to "Gah. Your… (tuilleadh eolais)

I keep having an issue on my desktop of every new tab I open crashing. I can access the homepage, but if I put anything into the search bar, the screen goes to "Gah. Your tab just crashed. We can help! Choose Restore This Tab to reload the page." And when I try to restore the page, it brings me back to that screen again. I couldn't even access Mozilla Support on my desktop to report this, I am on this site through my phone.

Since updating Thunderbird crashes shortly after starting or sooner if I initiate an update check. If I pull the internet connection and the update check fails it doesn't… (tuilleadh eolais)
