I am currently using linux based debian distribution OS and in my Firefox browser it dont let me auto saving my passwords and also that option is not highlighted

Firefox is not saving my passwords. Every time I start up my laptop, all the saved passwords are gone. I have tried a refresh and a new install as well, but the problem persists. I have to sync to my other machine to restore them.
Since I updated Firefox I can find all my saved passwords?
I mistakenly chose to save a password for a (specific) website and I want to change it back to Do Not save. How do I correct this mistake?

On my previous laptop using Windows 11, a dialog box would open when I entered a username and password while online, asking if I wanted to save the username and password.… (tuilleadh eolais)
On my previous laptop using Windows 11, a dialog box would open when I entered a username and password while online, asking if I wanted to save the username and password. On my brand new laptop, that dialog box does not come on screen. Id like to be able to store that info so I don't have to enter it each time.
