To whom it may concern,

I have attached a picture of the error message I get when trying to play a video. I know the website is not at fault as I can use your competitors browser (Chrome) and the videos play with no issue. I have also tried a few media player extensions with no success. Please help me find a solution so I do not need to use another browser. Thanks

Hi, I just want to ask about the customization option on the new tab's low right corner (the little pencil icon). I've had a background image called "Galaxy" that i thought was pretty, but it disappeared (probably sync settings on other devices, idc) and now the background is just system gray. The issue is that i cannot find the system background in "Themes" nor in the "Customization" (picrel) - there is only "reset to defaults". I really like Firefox and this was pretty cool so I'd like it back. Thanks in advance :)

There is a 'feature' in Firefox that I think is called "click and hold context menu". Basically if you left click on something and hold the click for a second or two a menu appears that offers an AI generated list of suggestions related to the thing you were clicking on. How do I disable this? In searching I have found suggestions to open about:config and set the value for ui.click_hold_context_menus to false, which I have done a few weeks ago now and it has no affect. I also tried changing the related value of ui.click_hold_context_menus.delay to an insanely long time, but that also had no effect.

I would appreciate some guidance on how to turn this off. This is problematic enough that I may have to switch to another browser if this can't be disabled. Thanks! Attached is a random example of one of these context menu's that appears when clicking and holding on a link.

I signed into my firefox account on my wife's computer and now ALL of her bookmarks, passwords are mixed in with my data. I've signed out of both accounts on that computer. I've signed out and relogged in on my computer. This is not a temporary issue. All of her data is somehow in my account. This seems like a MAJOR security flaw of the software. Were both using Windows 11 computers.

Yet again Mozilla have decided that yellow folder icons are not needed and have amended the code so user chrome files no longer work. Is there a new way to return the folder icons to yellow or are we stuck with the black icons with a white frame?

hi, I recently purchased a new wireless mouse and keyboard... and my only problem is that there are a couple extra buttons on my new mouse... roughly thumb position... and are by default set to navigate backward and forward.... I'm running ubuntu linux... which results in accidentally clicking back midway through a video or podcast and losing my position more often than you'd expect... any idea how I might either reassign or disable them entirely on the software side of things? thanks. -dan

Firefox is the default browser and pinned to the taskbar. When clicked, Firefox automatically opens places an additional icon in the taskbar. Once Firefox opens, in the second icon, any new links open in tabs, which is my preference.

The first image is the pinned icon in the taskbar. When hovering it only displays Firefox. The second image is the additional icon, when hovering over this icon the active page thumbnail is displayed.

Prior versions of Firefox did not have this behavior on my Windows 11 desktop PC. I've tried various settings in about:config but cannot resolve this issue. Is there some reason two icons are now required in the taskbar when running Firefox?

I tried to open to a site WWW.RAFY-A.com this morning and got an alert it was not available, but, I am now unable to dismiss or close the following ATTENTION! messages. I did click on the "click here to secure your data! on the top two now it shows a yellow triangle which I'm still unable to close or dismiss. Could someone please explain how to get rid of these. I ran Dell Support Assist but I do not have a virus option. I have not rebooted yet as I wanted to clear this up first and then reboot. Thank you. Irene

I'm using Ubuntu 24 with the XFCE desktop. I'm installing the debs straight off packages.mozilla.org (currently 143.0.3).

Firefox's title bar, and window manager buttons do not have the same look and feel as the rest of my windows. And I have no idea where they're coming from.

They do change appearance in response to picking the different styles in Settings > Appearance, but the changes appear to be limited to colors only. The minimize, maximize and close buttons look differently than on all other windows, and they are more spread out than in, and the shade button is nowhere to be found.

I'm attaching two small images, the first one is the standard set of widgets all other windows have, and the second one is Firefox's odd duck. I could not find anything in settings. "Extensions And Themes" shows that "System theme" is enabled. Well, it's coming up a bit short...

The favicons on my homepage are not appearing when I launch Firefox, and I can't find any way to restore them. Turning the favicons on/off in the settings doesn't help, it just moves the location of the search bar. I've included some images to better illustrate the problem.

Is there any way we can restore the favicons?

Manage Exceptions with Cookies and Data

As has been mentioned many times before I am sure, it would be really helpful to be able to have a less laborious way to add exceptions but as I have been through the ridiculous process of typing in site addresses manually one by one without having any sensible way to record these addresses already I guess it won't help me now. The ridiculous aspect came from having to take screen shots of the list of sites from the manage data list after deleting everything not wanted, scrolling down a windows worth at a time, copying that screen shot into multiple copies of a graphics program then shrinking each copy of the graphics program and Firefox so each can be seen so I can manually type each address across.

I know I am supposed to be nice but this is just insane. It is 2025. There is a thing called copy and paste. Apparently some people at Mozilla are not aware of this.

Having got that off my chest the next issue is that the deletion of cookies and data only occurs when Firefox is closed. Who closes Firefox? Why would you close Firefox? I currently have 24 tabs open. Why on earth would I want to close them down just so they have to be selected one at a time and reloaded? What is the thinking behind this stupidity?

The only time I close Firefox down is when Windows is restarted for updates (every application) or when IDM needs to update as I found this negates the need to restart Windows (Firefox only).

Other than those situations I am trying to work out how to fit this cookies/data deletion into the normal operation of my computer. There appears to be a lack of a suitable way to deal with this situation. Would it be considered acceptable to just wait for those times Firefox has to be closed? This would be far better than what I have been doing up to now but why wouldn't Firefox delete this data when the last tab for a site is closed? There are a huge number of sites I bring up due to searching for something and close them immediately or after reading what they have to say.

I have been using computers for about 30 years and have long lost the inclination and to be honest the ability to delve deep into them. Today I just want to have them do what I want/need without unnecessary complications.

Have I got this situation right or is there something I have missed? At the moment IDM has been having a lot of updates thanks to YouTube's greed but before that I found I generally only had to restart my computer for MS updates and when strange things started to happen.

So I had logged into this Firefox account, but while I was, I forgot my password. I needed to enter the correct code from the email, but I lost the recovery key; I needed to enter in the 2FA code from my phone, then I could now change the password. When I logged in, boom, bookmarks gone. Passwords gone, and browsing history gone. I was waiting for it all to sync, but it had probably synced the deletion of everything possibly. I have no idea what happened, but I do not believe my account was compromised, because I did not get any emails about any new logins. If it is encrypted, how can I decrypt it so I can get my stuff back? Thanks.
