I am getting a new PC. How do I transfer all of the saved passwords (and bookmarks) in my Firefox browser to install on my new machine?

Every time I open firefox it asks me to sign in to my profile. When I do, I have lost all of my bookmarks etc.
I then go into about:profiles and have to delete multiple profiles that have appeared and set my original one to default, which works fine and i have all my bookmarks bac… (tuilleadh eolais)

However as soon as I switch my macbook off and on again, I am back to square one and have to delete old profiles and set my old one to default. This is incredibly frustrating.

Regrettably, I updated firefox on my computer. It wiped out all my preferences , passwords, and bookmarks. When I tried to sync them back from my phone, the phone (with both wifi and mobile data) wouldn't connect to firefox login, though it has no problem getting to other places on the internet. It also told me I had cookies turned off, even though I didn't. I checked three times.
Is there some way to retrieve the lost data so I can transfer it to a decent browser and get rid of FF forever? Thanks.

Even teensy tiny ones. Perhaps you've heard about it since you're also in Mountain View. They have not responded to repeated posts from the forum... I have an iMac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and I haven't been able to update my software. I go to Lane Medical Library at Stanford to use the Windows machines there. I load whatever standalone software that I can onto a jump drive and install it at home. Unfortunately, some sites (like Apple and maybe even Mozilla!) recognize the computer you're on and only allow you to download software compatible with the machine that you are actually sitting at. This means that I can't reinstall Safari because I can't get a copy of it. And it looks like I might not be able to install Firefox 17.0 either. At least, that's what I'm trying to find out. "We've made some educated guesses about your current browser and operating system." See what I mean? So when I go to the library, will I be able to download a copy of Firefox 17.0 for the Mac and install it on my computer at home? Thanks!

I. When I try to move the download to the Applications folder:
(1) If I choose "Replace," I get the error message: "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."
(2) If I choose "Keep Both Files," I get the error message: "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0)."
II. Version 16 no longer works:
1. If I try to open it now, I get the error message: "You can't open the application Firefox.app because it may be damaged or incomplete."
2. If I try to throw out the damaged app, I get the error message: "The operation can’t be completed because the item “Firefox.app” is locked."

A few days ago, my good old FF (12) stopped downloading and saving. Actually, in the download screen it looks as if it was downloaded (shows in its full size in the Download screen), but the 'open' option is gray and it can't be found in the download folder. Also, when using 'save as' for web pages, only the html folder (images, etc.) is found where saved, but its 'mate' (the htm file) is not, and the 'open' option (on download screen) is gray. I deleted the mimetype.rdf and the downloads.sqlite files; I disabled all the relevant FF addons, changed downloading folder etc.--- nothing helps. Do you have any idea? Thanks
