Recently i got a problem related to push notifications on Firefox, I've already subscribed (or allowed) to notification permission on some websites like Twitter, Gmail but I don't receive any notification when I closed their tabs . It's working fine if the tab of particular website is loaded on Firefox but once I closed it I don't get any notification especially from those websites on which I allowed the notification permission.

Some people suggested me to use chromium or other browsers to get this behavior but I don't want to replace Firefox with any other browser because their dev tools are better than what others are suggesting to me.

Firefox version: 76.0.1 OS: Manjaro with I3gaps window manager Script (or app) for display the notification : Dunst

Hello,

One of my last Crash ID report : 49e3c347-5deb-4659-b9d1-281b00200514

I experiment this problem on two of my computers. Both are running Debian Buster. If I don't forget to quit Firefox before shutting down my computer, then I believe I won't have problem the next time I switch on my computer and launch Firefox.

However, as most of the time, if I shutdown my computer with Firefox still being open, it seems that Debian Buster doesn't close properly Firefox. In fact, if Firefox was still open when I switch off my computer, I can be sure (100% of the time) that at the next startup, Firefox won't be able to launch the previous session and I'll have to "restore my last tabs".

No other software seem to suffer from the way Debian Buster switch off. Only Firefox.

Thank you for any help one could give me,

Regards, Thatoo

After a long browser session, sometimes the keyboard shortcut Alt-D stops working, but other keyboard shortcuts like Alt-H work fine.

The shortcuts F6 and Ctrl-L still work.

A restart of the browser fixes it though, so I haven't explored further.

It's not easy to replicate consistently; Firefox doesn't show it when first opened, but after prolonged use it may occur and then stay that way until restarted.

I am using Firefox version 76.0.1 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 18.04. I am not using the [German version of Firefox].

I know I can make this go away with a restart, I'm just curious if there's some troubleshooting steps I could take to identify the cause.

I don't really know if this is a bug, or a feature of Firefox's JavaScript core engine. Say I have an array:

var array = [];

I set the length of the array to a very large number:

array.length = 155555555;

This now turns the variable array into an array with 155555555 blank slots. If I then do:

array[502039410402] = 5; // Notice that 502039410402 > the previously set 155555555 for length

array.length remains at 155555555, but the actual array is appended with a sudden index 502039410402 (i.e., index 155555553, 155555554, and then suddenly index 502039410402; see screenshot), with that element containing 5. Is this a bug, or an intended feature?

I would appreciate it if anyone could let me know.

Thanks!

I have a few special buttons on my keyboard (Calculator / Mail). I've set them (on lxde-rc.xml) to run a simple bash script (Volume up / down using pactl). Unfortunately, I've noticed that only on Firefox hangs when I press these buttons (tested with terminal/slack/IDEs/Chrome, no issues). It's a ~2 seconds hang that prevents me from doing anything (tried scrolling/typing/clicking, nothing).

Any way to see what is actually happening / disable this behavior?

Hi,

I am trying to configure PKI based authentication and encryption system in my organization using Hardware token. I was able to install my hardware token feitan ePass2003 Auto in privacy->security device. I am able to see my certificates under view certificate after entering my password for private key. After research on internet, came to know that Applet based client authentication is obsolete and hence i have configure my token in Firefox. The next step i.e Authentication page is where i have got stuck up. Can any one please give details guide on how to use cryptoken operation(challenge & signing) and access to token in JavaScript at client side login page. I could not get hold of any library of java script for access to token through Firefox. Any guidance is highly appreciated.

Thanks

Given that Firefox Developer Edition isn't typically packaged by distros, the only way to install it is manually unpacking the tarball from Mozilla to some suitable location and manually write a .desktop entry. But now that the main Firefox build is available as a Flatpak, are there any plans for publishing Developer Edition that way as well?

I have two computers: one personal (HP), one from my work (MBP). I quit my job a few weeks back but still had my MBP in case they needed something. I continued to use it and I had to return it back yesterday.

I synchronized my tabs using Firefox Sync on the MBP and could see them well on my HP. I formatted the MBP and returned it, without disconnecting my Firefox account. I got back home and tried this morning to load on my HP the tabs I had on my MBP, but it is not listed anymore. (Surprisingly, some other device I didn't touch for 2 or 3 weeks is still listed, even though it's not connected.) I tried on another device to connect my Firefo account, thinking it would propose me to open a session have somewhere else, but the MBP session isn't listed there either.

I can't lose all the researches I made during the last few weeks :S I turned my side project into a full time job, I need them.

Is there any way to retrieve somehow the tabs I had open on the MBP? Is there a way to get from the Sync server any copy they have for my devices? Does Firefox writes to disk what it gets when listing the data of synchronized devices, so I could try to look into the deleted files on my disk?

Help or ideas much appreciated!

When I'm on Ubuntu and I try to switch tabs with Ctrl+tab, sometimes the the Firefox window closes and I don't get to access the previous session in Restore previous session in the hamburger menu or in history. Is this a Ubuntu problem or am I clicking on something I don't understand?

I'm wondering how to configure a default zoom level for all users.

I want

about:preferences -> Default zoom

to have a default value of 133% instead of 100%.

So far I'm using the files

firefox/distribution/distribution.ini

and

firefox/browser/defaults/preferences/all-XXX.js

for configuration, but I don't know which keyword to use. I compared the content-prefs.sqlite file between to test profiles, one having 100% default zoom, the other having 133% default zoom.

The database says there is a setting "browser.content.full-zoom", but I can't configure this with the *.ini or *.js file, or can I?

I also read this:

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Preferences/A_brief_guide_to_Mozilla_preferences

but it didn't help.

OK, I have no question that some wacky combination of keystrokes has gotten me into the issue I have, Im a poor typist at best and not really getting any better.

But Im cruising through my day and all of a sudden my Browser Linux Mint installation of V71, shifts EVERYTHING to about 1/3 of my screen width on the LEFT and leaves the other 2/3 completely inaccessible.

Rebooting doesn't help, hard shutdowns no go. I have more that 1 copy open (3 MAX), and the other 2 arent effected, just the one that was my primary.

This has occurred before and in the past it EVENTUALLY resolves itself. But Id love to know what Im doing wrong so I can NOT do it, as well as a solution?

Thanks hopefully I can post my screenshot.

Hello, In Ubuntu 20.04 (Firefox 76), there is this strange bug. Whenever I reboot/shutdown and start my computer, and after login when I open Firefox (after bootup), the previous session (i.e. the session which was present at the time of reboot) will be opened at the same ubuntu workspace location.

Eg. I had 3 tabs opened in workspace 2 and I shutdown my system. Then I again boot into Ubuntu and open firefox (in the default workspace aka workspace 1), the browser will resume its previous state i.e. it will open in the workspace 2 with the 3 tabs open. So this is like a state restore.

I have disabled Restore Previous Session in the "Startup" section of preferences.
