Hello, Here is the problem I encounter in firefox (windows 7 system): - the extensions are no longer functional - reinstalling them solves the problem only until the next start - fixing firefox did not solve the problem. When I thought about it I wondered if the problem did not follow the use of 'sync' in a non-administrator profile under ubuntu. I disconnected this machine (ubuntu) via the sync interface on my PC but the problem persists. What should I do, knowing that I currently no longer have access to this ubuntu computer (if the problem really comes from there)?

I used to use Theme & Font Size Changer and was able to change the fonts to large and bold so I could read them. Now it doesn't work because of Firefox "upgrades". There really should be an easier way to change fonts, both sizes and colors, because not everyone is 20 years old with great eyesight. Is there a fairly easy way to do this? I'll even take a not-so-easy way if it works.

BTW, I've used "Firefox Colors" and it does make it a bit easier, but I really need to be able to increase the size of the text AND bold it.

I've just switched to Firefox as Chrome keeps lagging. I'm running Fedora 31 and the latest version of Firefox 76.0.1.

When I use the 2 fingered scrolling and take my fingers off the touchpad, the page keeps scrolling until it slowly slows down and eventually stops or hits the end of the page. It doesn't then stop when I place my fingers back on the touchpad, so it just carries on regardless to another part of the page. It's ludicrous as it just goes past whatever I'm trying to look at! If I keep my fingers on the touchpad it stays put but as soon as I take them off, it's off on it's jollies again.

Is there anyway to disable this? I've unchecked smooth scrolling and autoscrolling. I've never had Firefox behave like this before on any Linux distro.

I'm a software developer working on backend services, always juggling between Firefox and Chrome (because none of them fully satisfy my needs). What I need from them is to behave the way it will be most practical for me, which isn't necessarily aligned with the majority of users.

My current problem is this. I work with APIs which in my daily work often return various HTTP errors. These errors also contain a payload which describes the problem in detail. I want to be able to see this payload easily in the browser. Yes, I can use other tools like Postman for this (which I do), but for simple GET requests without special request headers it would be much more practical to just use a browser.

Currently, when my API opens an error (for example a 400 Bad Request), Firefox decides to just silently go back into the previous page (undos the URL change). If I open the Network tab in the Web Developer view, I can however see the failing response with all of its details. Still, this is too impractical for me.

BTW, the response contains a custom Content-Type which isn't recognized by Firefox by default. But Firefox isn't downloading the payload as a file (like it would usually do for a successful page load of an unknown Content-Type), it just silently doesn't do anything. I've installed an extension to handle my custom Content-Types (called "Open in Browser"), but since Firefox isn't attempting to open this one, I can't use it in this case.

So, how can I force Firefox to stay on that URL and show the response payload in the window? If not in vanilla Firefox, any plugins? I've already kind of spent too much time on this for my liking. :/

Extensions are installed and running but dont show up next to the 3-bar menu. Add-ons Manager says "The following extensions do not have shortcuts:

They used to show up a couple of days ago but I cant find the area in Options to correct the problem. How do I make them re-appear?

Thank you in advance, Jerry

Hi,

I like to work with side-by-side Firefox windows, with one of the windows being far slimmer (horizontally) than the other. Since I updated to Firefox 74.0 today, I can't resize the windows as I like to do. I can resize them, but it's like there's a minimum fixed size to what I can resize it to and then it locks and doesn't go any slimmer from there (maybe so the browser controls don't overlap?). That fixed size is far too big for my use case, i.e. I absolutely need it slimmer. I'm not entirely sure if the previous Firefox version contained a fixed minimum size, but if it did, it was much smaller (it allowed controls to overlap, which wasn't a problem for me)

Is there a setting that I can change in Firefox 74 so that I can make the windows as slim as I require again?

Example: I have an email website assigned to the "Personal" container. When trying to open a separate email account in a new tab and different non assigned container, I am prompted by Multi-Account Containers, "Would you still like to open in this current container?". I click on the "Open in Work Container" button, but it still goes to the assigned container, "Personal". It should not go there unless you have checked the box for "Remember my decision for this site", which is unchecked. Note: It was working correctly before the update to 75.0. Thank you!

I've had a problem on a particular page on my website that has resisted all attempts at analysis and fixing for years: the page renders in Western font in my FF browser (in all my PCs), whilst in a colleague's browser (from another country) it renders fine in Unicode. It also renders fine in Unicode on my PC when using Chrome, and Edge, and Opera. Only Firefox is a problem.

I would be happy if I could just tell FF to render every single page I ever visit in Unicode by default. But I have go to View > Text Encoding > Unicode every single time I visit this page.

For info, I'll paste everything in the page before the <body> tag:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <title>xxx</title> <base href="https://www.xxx.com/templates/en/admin/Gross_Profit_Reports.html"></base> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/reset.css?revision=1794" type="text/css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/text.css?revision=1794" type="text/css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css?revision=1794" type="text/css" /> <link rel="shortcut icon" href="https://www.xxx.com/templates/en/images/favicon.gif" /> <script src="../js/jquery-1.9.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../js/jquery.stickytableheaders.min.js"type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script> <script src="../js/sspextras.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../js/common.js"></script> <meta charset="utf-8"></head>

Although we use <meta charset="utf-8"> now, we've previously had it as <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">, but that has been similarly unsuccessful.

I'm happy to make changes on the browser side in the webpage, but I really want to solve this. Grateful for any help.

The Hotspot Shield add-on (v.3.4.18) no longer works. It was working yesterday (15 Dec 2019). The HSS icon in the toolbar is grey (i.e. VPN not switched on), while normally it is blue when Firefox is running. If I click on this icon, I see the HSS logo but I'm not taken to the control panel / user interface. See screenshot.

I tried:

- restarting Firefox and my PC (Win10, 64 bit),

- "refreshing" Firefox,

- reinstalling the HSS add-on and ensuring that it works in private browsing,

- contacting HSS directly (they only reply to "premium" users),

- going to the Mozilla help pages,

- and installing HSS add-on in Chrome (it works there).

Nothing has worked for Firefox so far. Any suggestions?

When I'm in Firefox watching videos on Youtube or listening Soundcloud and trying to increase volume with the standard shortkey (fn+f12) on my Asus Zenbook, this causes tab to go back one page. However I noticed this happens right at the moment when I'm pressing the combination, so if I'm pushing the buttons continiously it happens only once. Seems, that I have no such a problem in other apps. Firefox is up to date ( ver 70.0.1 on Dec 1st 2019). Laptop model UX410UAR, running Win 10. I also have Autohotkey running in the background to hold absent numpad keys. However turning it off doesn't change the behaviour. Any advise, please?

Ok, I get it. Flash will be abandoned in 15 months time. Who can actually do something about this? The developers of sites that use flash. So why am I being punished? Why do I need to click 3 times additionally for something I have exactly zero, zip, null, no influence over whatsoever? Speaking about user friendliness, this is NOT it. Apart from downgrading or reverting to another browser that has not implemented this ridiculous anti-user-friendiness measure, what can I do?

I'm using Firefox 67.0 under MX Linux. My monitor is 25" with a resolution of 1920x1200. With this resolution, the text and icons in Firefox Menu and Toolbars are tiny and almost impossible to read. The Thunderbird add-on Theme and Font Size Changer works reasonably well for Thunderbird, so is there a corresponding add-on for Firefox?

I know that Firefox is largely developed by people who are volunteers, but it seems that a tool, as part of the basic Firefox program, should be available to make these changes without installing add-ons or modifying the code manually. Almost everyone needs to be able to tweak these things at one time or another.
