A while back, I discovered a Google plugin hidden within Firefox. I figured maybe one thing was fine until I realized that Widevine actually did some bad stuff to your OS, since it needs to access the internal OS to block screenshots and screen recordings. Today, I discovered that geolocation also uses Google servers, and in the process of turning it off I also discovered that there is this "Safe Browsing" that also uses Google. Looking even further, even some of the privacy things redirect to Google. I haven't even mentioned that the default search engine is Google. Even if Google paid you to make them the default, you could create a prompt on the first launch asking for search engine, with Google selected by default but another search engine (like DDG) recommended. All of this Google software is likely sucking on our data.

Now while writing this post, I noticed something even worse. Why are Google servers on the filter whitelists? This is uncool. I understand, maybe your website needs to detect Firefox to function correctly, and antifingerprint would break it. But WHY GOOGLE? All of this seems to be going against the goal of privacy. How are you supposed to expect a random person to go directly to about:add-ons, disable Google Widevine, go to about:preferences, disable safe browsing, go to about:config, enter the "danger" zone confidently, and delete Google from the 10,000 times it appears in the config?

I use Firefox for Mac ver. 79.0 and up until now when I logged on to htpps:www.michiganlottery.com and enabled location it always worked until now. I read an article that said Mozilla was sued for the code used for location and that Mozilla will be creating their own location services soon and giving users like myself something like a PIN number that is good for say 10,000 uses. Is that true and is the reason my location when enabled doesn't work anymore? Could you email me the procedure to enable if I missed something to: compute38209@aol.com Thank you.

Hi all,

I am trying to customize my Firefox on Mac because the tabs on top interfere with the menu bar, thus I only want tree-style tab extension to work on the side, with the tabs on top disabled.

I followed this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1184674#answer-1028260 as well as this clear guide on how to create userChrome.css: https://www.userchrome.org/how-create-userchrome-css.html When I tried to restart the browser, I seemed to have been logged out of my profile, with all customization gone and a standard white (instead of black) menu. I deleted the chrome folder and it is normal again now.

I suspect the userChrome.css file should contain more than just the one line I tried to add: #tabbrowser-tabs { visibility: collapse !important; } ; Is there any location where I can copy my current intra-browser customization into the userChrome.css file?

Hi folks! I'm currently using an website that could as well be a standalone app. I'd love it to show up in my Mac dock as a normal app, similar to what the "Create shortcut" functionality does in Chrome. Create a desktop shortcut to a website Firefox's "shortcut" functionality seems to only work in Windows, and does not seem to provide the same full experience. I'd love to see this feature in Firefox soon.

I think this site is relatively safe. It hosts replays of company earnings conference calls with analysts.

http://public.viavid.com/player/index.php?id=140568

The page loads. Some form fields can be filled in, but not the one for email. The insecure connection icon appears.

Is the connection is insecure, why does the page load even partially?

Or is this page an example of mixed content blocking (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mixed-content-blocking-firefox)? If so, why is there is no option to bypass the blocked connection?

Or is something else happening here?

Many thanks

I am stuck between two machines and can't stay on beta updates anymore because FF won't let me sync my profiles anymore.

If I can't migrate my beta channel profile to the release channel, how can I quit beta updates until the release channel catches up to me?

FF preference selected is 'download updates but let me install them' but really there is no choice. It installs and next opening of FF it is automatically installed. I already changed about:config preference for update channel to 'release' but FF merrily kept on with beta channel updates.

I need my beta channel profile customizations--varied management of permissions and add-ons and passwords on dozens of sites, customizations to stop the blinking and autoplay and movement and noise.

But: FF won't let me keep them if I go back to release.

So: how can I force FF to stop updating while the release channel catches up?

Mac/Mojave Beta channel 80.something, need to sync with release channel 79

I have a basic html index page being served by Ubuntu/Apache at `https://localhost/test.html`. I have `browser.enabled.ssb` set to `true` in about config.

When I open a regular browser window (Firefox 78.0.2) I can navigate to, and load `https://localhost/test.html` no problem but when I run `firefox --profile /home/ubuntu/.mozilla/firefox/a5pwja44.default-release --ssb https://localhost/test.html` I get a connection error. (This is the same profile I'm using when I open a new browser window).

Anybody know why this doesn't work or how to fix?

I am just wondering why FireFox occasionally becomes slow to load web pages. On these occasions, restarting Firefox fixes the problem immediately.

Example, I was just loading the same page repeatedly because of some work I am doing. After about 15 minutes of slow response times, I restarted FireFox and immediately, the page loaded very quickly as usual.

You can see the page where this was occurring at this url: https://legacy-systems.biz/demo/demo.html

Any information etc. would be appreciated immensely.
