Hi. I am not able to browse the Web. Well I can and can't this is a tricky one. I always get a "Unable to connect / Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at (Website name).com." Error which is weird because I can play online games on my PC like WoW/HotS/LoL/Hearthstone/BF4/COD just fine. I was going to do a fresh install but I lost my disk and have no backup/system restore/USB bootable. My computer is a bit old. It uses Vista32 Home Premium. This is really weird I never had this happen.

Heres the Skinny on what I can do in terms of browsers(I had them all previously before this started to happen(Which was a few days ago but I thought it was maybe server problems)).

-Load up firefox(it brings me to the firefox homepage) -Load the google search engine(But only if it has the HTTPS:// I can't just type 'google.com' -Load this support page(But none of it's links that are in the support articals)

I've tried everything. Reset my router did a bunch of CMD stuff that others said have worked. I checked my NIC and nothing is wrong with my PC in terms of hardware. I'm thinking it's more of a settings problem but I looked through them all. If someone could help that would be great. I need my PC I use it for everything, bank/bills and don't have the cash to do anything like replace parts and stuff.

What needs to be reconfigured to reduce wakeup events?

Every time firefox is launched, the spinning beach ball appears, sometimes immediately, sometimes within a minute or two, every time. Must force quit. I have re-installed Firefox and also have refreshed with no change. Unless this is fixed, Firefox is unusable. I am running OSX 10.9.5 on a 17" MacBook Pro.

I cannot access any information through Firefox, because t always hangs.

I've had this problem since for several years, probably going back to v15 or so. Firefox loads and works fine for a while. Then, suddenly, for reasons I do not understand, it refuses to load any more webpages. I get a "server cannot be found" error. It's like Firefox forgets how to do an IP lookup, or gets a bogus answer that redirects to an IP that is bogus. It doesn't wait or timeout either. Once I get it once I cannot browse to any website until I close Firefox and reopen the program. Even opening new browser tabs or windows doesn't help. I have to completely exist Firefox (all instances).

I would like to note that if it is "about to break", when I click a link, bookmark, or type in the web address, when I hit enter it fails within a second or two. It doesn't sit around and timeout after 30 seconds.

I don't feel like I'm doing anything that is out of the ordinary. I have a few plugins, but this happens on multiple computers, including some that have no plugins disabled.

Here's things that may be affecting this behavior for me:

1. I use a hosts file to block a lot of spammy websites. I use a program called hostsman to handle the hosts file. I have the DNS service disabled because it cannot handle the number of entries that are in the hosts file. (been using this for more than 10 years) 2. I have disabled disk caching (I use an SSD and I have found that disk caching creates more problems for browsing than its worth). I still do the in-RAM caching, and it's not uncommon for Firefox to be using 1GB of RAM or so. I don't think I've ever seen it use more than about 1.2GB of RAM. All of the systems have massive amounts of free RAM. My main desktop has 64GB of RAM, with 75-80% of it free typically.

I've also seen this at different physical locations (home, work, other side of the country at friend's house's, etc.). This problem only affects Firefox. I haven't seen it on Chrome or Internet explorer (albeit I don't use them for hours on end). I typically have this issue a few times a day. I do work from home, and most of my work is in the browser, so it can be a bit annoying.

Right now my hardware on this machine is:

Lenovo Y55 with 16GB of RAM, i7-4700HQ and 512GB SSD. Other systems are far more powerful than this one, so I tend to think that hardware is not the problem.

Thanks.

Hello all, So Just yesterday I noticed that when playing videos on youtube in full screen, i get a lot of sound crackling and video slow down and the likes. Also happens in other sites such as shush.se

At first it seemed to happen after Flash updated but my laptop updated the same and there is no problem there. It happens both with the flash and the HTML5 player, FF only, on chrome there is no problem.

If i enable hardware acceleration in the flash player settings, then there is no video at all, just a green screen.

I'm using win7 64-bit (actually just re-installed windows-not related,but i had 32bit before, hoped it would help but didn't)

Please help!

When I've been playing YouTube videos lately, I've noticed that a bunch of black boxes have been appearing over the player interface (The controls below the video) while the video is playing. Unfortunately, I can't provide a good screenshot, as the boxes come and go too quickly for me to get them. This issue still occurs if I restart Firefox in safe mode. I think it started happening with Firefox 37.

I need to revert the security settings back to the way they were BEFORE the update because now I am unable to access my secured work website (that I was on yesterday) to actually do work. When I attempt to go to my log-in page I get the following message: Secure Connection Failed

The connection to corect.ct.gov:10000 was interrupted while the page was loading.

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

It doesn't even give me the option to allow the site (it is my computer after all, it should be my choice). I NEED TO GET TO THIS WEBSITE.

Ever since a recent update Firefox has displayed some odd behaviour surrounding gifs. Occasionally, after viewing pages with large numbers of gifs and/or several very large gifs, Firefox will do things like not animate gifs, or even not load images at all,a and won't stop until I restart Firefox. What is more concerning is that sometimes in these situations Firefox will simply hang and stop responding, forcing me to kill the process. This page shows the hanging behaviour pretty consistently: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1021843&page=21 It seems more likely to happen when I scroll through the page quickly. The behaviour persists when I restart Firefox in Safe Mode.

When I go to "Tools" / "Plug-Ins" and click on "Check To see If Plugins Are Up To Date" it goes to Mozilla Check Your Plugin Page, but fails to show plugins or checked plugins update status. ( https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/?utm_source=firefox-browser&utm_medium=firefox-browser&utm_campaign=plugincheck-update ) I am using OS X 10.10.3 / Firefox 37.0.1 / March-14-2015

Tried, re-installing over original, clearing cookies, clearing cache and starting in Safe Mode to no avail. Another ridiculous oversight and there's never any support for when things do go awry. Unfortunately, I have received no professional concern, with a competent cause and cure. none. And I have had and reported this problem since Firefox 35.0.

Need info and a fix, for Months Now! Thanks! Whitebuck

This issue involves accessing an errant Comcast email address through Comcast home page - Comcast records do not show this username exists anywhere within their system, and said it is a firefox issue. The unwanted name only appears when using firefox to access Comcast home page, and the drop sign-in window. When you click on the bad username, the message states the address is not recognized. The bad username does not show when the Comcast home page is brought up using chrome, or internet explorer. Would appreciate advice on how to delete this unwanted username that seems to be hiding somewhere within firefox system. Grateful to all who would attempt to help.

My hard drive crashed and was replaced by a repairman who moved all the files but somehow 'updated' my Firefox 31.6.0esr to Firefox 37.0.1 (the About Firefox window shows 37 but the Update History shows last update as ESR ?!?).

This PC needs to be on the ESR channel.

How do I revert/convert/whatever back to ESR without losing the settings/add-ons/etc. for all the users?

FYI: This 'update' has broken a bunch of stuff:

  • The Search Bar is now invisible. Already tried removing, re-adding, setting size, etc.
  • Loading each page initiates an error message about a 'getter' and spawns new windows.

ALSO: I tried to attach an image of the issues and it kept hanging, even after creating a smaller version.

Since I can't attach the screenshots, please view them from my website: http://sosayssunny.com/Firefox_Problems_2.png (Low-Res, 163 KB) http://sosayssunny.com/Firefox_Problems.png (Full-Size, 291 KB)

Please help! (I'm already at wit's end about the hard drive crash.  :-P )

Thanks!

Today I get an error that says secure connection failed. It appears to be a TLS Error but I do not know how to fix it. This is for a customer computer that I recommended Firefox to. It was working great until today. I have tried it on two different computers with Firefox installed in two different locations. The page works fine from Internet Explorer (bleck) and Google Chrome (bleck again) Please tell me what I need to do to fix it. The computers in question are running Windows XP on one and Windows 8.1 on the other.
