Hello all. I seem to have a new version of Firefox installed on my computer, or an update has made it a newer version (89) and now it does not save my passwords. When I close down the laptop and re start it the next time I want to use it and go to firefox, none of the paswords I had thought I'd saved previously are there. This is very frustrating as I have a lot of places I visit which I had, in previous times using an earlier version of firefox, saved passwords which populated the correct places. I am no techie so really don't understand what has happened. Every time I want to get onto even my email, I have to leaf through my black book to find the necessary password and do it all manually.

Please can anyone help?

Then I tried logging into my email, that too did not autofill and I KNOW that nothing was done by my on it. I have exported the remainder of my passwords. I have restarted the open session. I have lost a third sites password information. What is happening?

Following the latest Firefox update, my computer no longer saves passwords or logins from day to day. I have checked all the settings all of which are as they should be. Hello folks

I hope everyone is doing good :)

I 'refreshed' firefox as suggested. The guidance suggested that all my logins and passwords would be preserved but when I check the Logins and Passwords all have been cleared. I was able to find key4.db file in the Old Firefox Data folder created after the refresh but I couldn't find the second required file "logins.json" to recover my logins succesfully.

Any suggestions or advice?

Thanks

Never had this happen so it freaks me out a little. I was making a purchase on ebay and my username and password didn't come up automatically as they always to. I went to my online email and the same thing. I was afraid to log in to anything thinking that maybe someone had hacked firefox or something and had set something up to get my information. Or does this happen sometimes and there is nothing to it? Or did some link mess up all of a sudden and it can be fixed? If so, how? Or do I just have to re-log in to everything and have it save them all over again? Hope this isn't to confusing but I'd appreciate any help. thanks

Firefox lost all my logins/passwords. This happened last year and now it happens again. I've tried to find the old logins.json file and of course it does not work with it. It is empty. I'm using linux and there is no problem with any antivirus, it is simply a Firefox 'classical' error!

WHY is this happening? What is in the mind of the programmer responsible for this error? I can't understand why is he unable to keep a single file intact?

Why Mozilla is blaming the user for not having a backup. Firefox is messing this file, not the user! Why don't you fix Firefox and stop blaming the user? Why don't you simply FIX THE PROBLEM? You are "working on it" for years. Is it rocket science to JUST LET THE FILE ALONE?

Four crashes the past couple of days but two today.

Lost all passwords in Save My Password and Lockwise appears to be blank.

I upgraded to v87.0, but after the crashes.

Do not want to switch profiles. I have them saved on a doc, but it is tedious. Would not import to Lockwise.

Save Password is NOT saving passwords, either.

Thank you.

Hi,

I recently updated, only to find out that all my passwords had disappeared :(. I checked my profile and there were three 0Kb files: logins.json, logins.json.corrupt and logins-backup.json. cert9.db and key4.db are still there and aren't empty. I'm on Arch Linux, so no previous version as well. Is there anything I can do to restore my passwords?

This is really odd. For some reason all of my previous passwords and logins are missing from Firefox. I don't even know if I updated the browser at all for this to happen.

What I do know is that the passwords are gone and there is no logins.json.corrupted so I can't follow the steps from what happened to try and get them back. What happpened? I need these passwords. I'm on version 79.0 on Windows 10

They are gone from the logins.json file that still has many others.

The saved login data (username, password) for several pages (that all sit on one and the same domain in different folders -- no idea if that matters) have suddenly disappeared. I did no Firefox update. I use no sync. There is no logins.json.corrupt file. And the logins.json file looks totally clean in a text editor. The JSON objects for those pages' URLs are simply no longer resident among the many others into whose online sites/pages I can still log in picking the saved login data. (I don't know if any other saved logins have disappeared. There are too many to mentally keep track of.)

The only thing that may be special: I added a new login for a new page on that domain, and later on the same day all of them were gone when I tried to log into one of them again.

Does anyone know how and why this can happen? Why would Firefox (version 64.0) drop certain page logins while keeping others -- and when not manually asked by me to delete any? Does it do this when there are more than 4 or 5 per a single domain? And is there any backup file somewhere when it does that? Some totally weird Firefox bug behind this or a powerful hacker attack? I am quite nonplussed. Can someone enlighten me?

Hi firefox community,

I've been using firefox forever and so all my logins and passwords have been saved in the browser. For the past two days I noticed that firefox couldn't 'connect to my account', which has never happened before - I was logged in ever since my firefox account was created. My current logins have been active, but when I tried to log into a website with a previously saved login and password - there was nothing. I then logged back into my firefox account, but all my logins and passwords are still gone. I tried manual sync, still nothing.

I am not sure if it happened after a specific update - I didn't notice when exactly I was 'logged out'.

after the ubuntu 18.04.4 firefox update to 74.0 my passwords seams totally lost. No ask for my master password as I visited a login site. Going to menue passwords, I was asked for my master password, and after entering, my password storage was empty. After a very long time, it seamed as my passwords are back again, but they where not complete, only 271 where back. On an very old system, from which I had transferred the firefox profile to the system now in use, I had had 413 passwords and I had had to create a lot more since this clone. After update to 74.0.1 again, at first passwords where completely lost and now again, lots of them where missing. What was astonishing was, on the old system key4.db is 294912 Byte (and no logins.json), now key4.db is 720896 B (logins.json 141519 B) but for sure lacking lot of information!

I purchased a new iMac after 9 years on a MacBook running the last installable version of Firefox: v48. Passwords were not migrated, so have all been lost. All help topics address *.json topics in Profiles. But the old version only has directoryLinks.json and frequencyCap.json files. Possible to restore from such an old version? If not, sadly, I must revert to using Safari. Bye bye Firefox.
