Hello everyone.

We are using a software in my company that runs a local server with a self-signed certificate. In order to access the software right now we need to instruct the users to manually bypass the warning page for potencial security risks.

Is there a way to use an autoconfig or policy to automatically add the exception to that specific URL? I see that copying the cert_override.txt file in users profiles will add the exception, but I'd like to avoid that. I've also looked at a question with a similar problem here, but I couldn't get this specific solution to work on my end (Firefox ESR 91): https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1287443

We use firefox in our company and we want to prevent firefox to open a download dialog during saving files. we want to prevent users change the name of files or rewriting an existing file during download. for this purpose, chrome has a pit is very crucial for me.olicy called "AllowFileSelectionDialogs".but firefox doesn't yet. Is there any way or trick to apply the same functionality to firefox? is there any library in firefox to be deleted and disable "save file as" functionality?

Moving user profile with GPO from local path onto folder redirected user document path

Hey all the experts

Backgroup: - I'm from a mid size corp environment with majority of users login on roaming profile (AD) - All the profile (browser saved passwords and bookmarks) are stored inside the local %APPDATA%, we want to remove the roaming profile from AD to free up resources and improve user login onto the PCs - User's Documents and Desktop folders are redirected onto the server

What I want to achieve: Setup GPO, to move existing Firefox profile (from %APPDATA%) onto the server storage, like each user's own Documents folder but hidden, so user won't accidentally delete it, then set Firefox to look at that new path permantly

Issues: - Once we removed the roaming profile on AD, when user logs in on another PC, all their bookmarks and saved passwords no longer sync across automatically - There are more than 1000 of PCs and users that we need this changed, which we can't manually copying and pasting the Firefox directory - We have multiple replicated VMs to store the user data i.e. Desktop and Documents

So, I have been looking on the net, but I have only found bits and pieces, like manually moving the Firefox profile from %APPDATA% to the new device's local path, GPO to adjust Firefox config but not copying the profile, no variable syntax I can find to point the new path onto the server directory like how Google Chrome can do it, i.e. ${documents}

Therefore, I would like to ask all your experts here if you can provide me with a step by step guide on how I could do it, as I'm quite new to GPO. As I have worked in an investment bank previously that they managed to get this setup on all browsers.

Hope to hear your good news, if this has been done, please give me a link to it, so I can look it up myself.

Really appreciated.

Good morning,

in our autoconfig.js we have set it to use the corresponding firefox.cfg. This also works so far.

Unfortunately we have problems with the import of the certificates (that used to work).

There is some problem with this code: var Cc = Components.classes; var Ci = Components.interfaces; var certdb = Cc["@mozilla.org/security/x509certdb;1"].getService(Ci.nsIX509CertDB); var certdb2 = certdb; try {

  certdb2 = Cc["@mozilla.org/security/x509certdb;1"].getService(Ci.nsIX509CertDB2);

} catch (e) {}

cert1 = "XYZ....." certdb.addCertFromBase64(cert1, "TCu,TCu,TCu", "");

We get the message 'Configuration file could not be read. Please contact your system administrator'

Hi All,

I need to customize FireFox for my org. Question...I set some preferences with a config files, and others with group policy, will both work assuming the preferences don't overlap/conflict? The reason is that I want to employ the DoD recommendations for securing FireFox, but only for their recommendations. For other settings, I would like to use Group Policy. Thanks

To whom it may concern

I am testing the autoupdate on one of my vm`s and I cannot configure what we need.

Goal: - We would like to update firefox esr yearly with a package through sccm. - After installation or after first startup, firefox should imediately update to newest version - From then, firefox esr should installed newest version as soon as available and check daily for a new version

My Config:

// Enable updater lockPref("app.update.enabled", true); lockPref("app.update.auto", true); lockPref("app.update.mode", 0); lockPref("app.update.service.enabled", true); lockPref("app.update.silent", true); lockPref("app.update.timerFirstInterval", 60); lockPref("app.update.promptWaitTime", 60); lockPref("app.update.download.backgroundinterval", 0); lockPref("app.update.doorhanger", false); lockPref("app.update.disable_button.showUpdateHistory", false);

The config file was implemented. I could see the changes in about:config, but if I today distribute version 78.7.1 with the above config file, firefox esr does not automatically update to the newest version 78.8.0. Only if I open the settings or the help about.

What am I missing? How can I achieve that firefox will update silently(without user intervention) imediately to newest version after install and update regularly to newest version?

Regards, Jonas

I've noticed this on a few workstations now that, after using FireFox ESR for period of time, it will pop up a new opportunity when the browser is first opened, offering an "Fresh" new update experience to the latest version of FireFox.

However in all cases so far when the user clicks to update, they have been updated to the rapid-release version of the program, and the "esr" portion is gone. Along with changed settings, etc. To answer what would seem obvious in every case: Automatic updating, and using a background service is already checked. The replaced browser was already on the latest release prior to the "update". How can this be changed?

Thank you.

Hi,

I've been researching this somewhat and I'm not exactly sure where/what the exact problem is to be honest. So far IE, Edge (new Chromium at least) and Chrome, with the add-on from Microsoft work fine and authentication properly with Conditional Access setup in an Azure environment but for some reason Firefox does not, you get "You can't get there from here" message.

Now from what I gather this is due to the way Conditional Access works and Firefox not being able to reply with the correct device authentication/ADAL when prompted for it. What I'm asking is, is this something that Mozilla can solve on their own or is this something that Microsoft has to work out on their end?

I'm fine with opening a bug report on Bugzilla but I wanted to dig a bit deeper and hopefully understand the issue at hand on this as to not waste developer(s) time if this is something that Microsoft should fix.

hello, since the update of QTS 4.5.1 of QNAP and more precisely virtualization station v3.5.3, virtualization station does not work with firefox enterprise v.78.4.0 esr. The application opens, but nothing is displayed? If I use edge or brave, virtualization station works properly. It seems to come from the HTML5 support that QNAP adopts as standard. Do you have an idea?

Hi All,

Since the update to Enterprise version 78.3 our site does not continue past the authentication stage and seems it doesn't communicate further with our backend servers.

It used to work with version 77 and is working with Chrome and Edge. So what could have changed in the latest version that could cause this behaviour?

Kind regards, Dave

Hi all,

I am looking into Firefox ESR to roll out in our environment, and am compiling some research to take to the Infrastructure Team.

A question that has been raised, is if a security threat is discovered and a patch is made, does that then automatically get rolled out to ESR before the scheduled update, or does it only come with each scheduled update?

If it does get rolled out early, then does automatic updating need to be enabled?
