After thoroughly searching this database, I could not locate an answer to the issue I am facing, although there seem to have been several similar cases.

My former university has recently decided to delete alumni email accounts, so I am using Thunderbird for email transferring from university to GMail (added both accounts to Thunderbird and then began copying emails and folders). Transfer is slow, depending on the server capabilities etc., but I am going folder by folder and so far it has been fine. I began the transfers a week ago.

Last night I noticed my Thunderbird inbox for my school is not showing anymore. The profile folder is only showing one file (.msf) for Inbox, instead of what should be, in my understanding, two files.

Thunderbird is still communicating well with the university email server because I made a folder rearrangement on the university webmail service (outlook.com) and it showed on Thunderbird. In addition, all my Inbox emails appear fine on the university webmail service (outlook.com).

Any ideas? This is obviously important and urgent.

I can receive, but not send, emails using Thunderbird on my PC. I believe this problem began when Thunderbird was updated on 1/13/26. I have no problems sending email on my tablet.

My service provide does not support TLS 1.2, so I tried changing security.tls.version.min to 1. This did not help.

The attached shows the error message and my SMTP settings (1st image) and my service provider's email server settings. I tried changing the SMTP port to 587, but this resulted in a time out error.

Any help is appreciated, Norm

I have been using Thunderbird on my laptop for a few years. It stopped retrieving my emails and I have not been able to get any emails on Thunderbird since June 24, 2025. I have tried changing the pop3 & smtp settings to those currently recommended by at&t but it hasn't worked. Please help!

Not getting new messages

Around Jan. 4, I tried moving all of my Inbox contents to a new subfolder "Inbox 2025". This process was taking a long time and I didn't see it complete. Afterwards, I can start Thunderbird OK (version 115.3.1 (64-bit) running on a Windows 10 system). I see the new folder "Inbox 2025" and it seems complete. I also see other folders which look OK. But the incoming messages have frozen at 01/01/26 [for one e-mail account] and at 01/04/26 [for a second e-mail account.]

It is also true that all of my Thunderbird sessions end by crashing after a certain period of time. What can I do to restart Thunderbird so that it will connect with the relevant servers, get new messages and not crash?

Normally I use thunderbird via a spectrum isp. Am currently out of the area and am using a cyber street isp. I can receive emails in thunderbird but can no longer send emails. Server SMTP settings appear to be correct. server: mail.twc.com port: 587 connection security: STARTTLS

I get this message when trying to send an email: >>>> Sending of the message failed.

An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: p-impout001.msg.pkvw.co.charter.net cmsmtp 68.68.205.174 blocked. Please see https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/understanding-email-error-codes for more information. AUP#Out-1130. <<<<<

Spectrum help tells me that since I can send emails through their web mail interface, that the problem must be with thunderbird. Not sure I believe them, but here I am looking for suggestions. Thoughts anyone?

They are not in my bulk file.  Where are they?

They do not appear on my Thunderbird (PC- Mozilla), on my I-pad (Apple), on my phone(Samsung)

Hi there! I and my colleague encounter some bugs with Thunderbird and we would like to seek your advice in regards of the issue.

1. <user a@citizen-systems.com.hk> was supposed to get a cc copy of the email sent by <user b@citizen-systems.com.hk> at Mon, 12 Jan 2026 09:35:19 +0800 but it never reached. The receivers, namely <user c@systems.citizen.co.jp> and <user d@citizen-systems.com.hk>, however, were able to get the mail. <user d@citizen-systems.com.hk> and <user a@citizen-systems.com.hk> are working at the same office and under the same network. Network provider checked the protocol, router, traffic and firewall are working as normal.

2. <user e@citizen-systems.com.hk> found a number of emails that she kept at "Inbox" disappeared on 12 Jan 2026 morning +0800.

She is unable to find it anywhere at her whole mailbox but has to ask the senders to resend them to her.

It would be very much appreciated if you can check and advise how to prevent the issue from happening again.

Several days ago we inadvertently deleted batches of emails from our two Thunderbird Gmail accounts on our PC and Apple devices. The lost emails were duly recovered but only after having to change my Google password. However one of our Thunderbird Gmail account will not download any new messages coming in. Ultimately we deleted that account from Thunderbird, intending to reinstall it. We deleted the account by pressing the Red button in account settings. We confirmed that messages are received to Gmail's Web page Inbox Now when I attempt to reinstall the account and press Add Account, I get the UNABLE TO LOG IN AT SERVER MESSAGE shown below. The "Your Full Name" I am putting in is the name on the Google account deleted from Thunderbird, and the password I have tried is my new Google password. I have tried the process of not adding in the password until requested to do so but this did not work either. Any suggestions please?

I am unable to send email messages to any "@zianet.com" email accounts (New Mexico). I can receive Zianet email messages, but I cannot Send or Reply. Zianet says they recognize the Earthlink IP Address, but that there is a third sender's IP Address they don't recognize. Earthlink says they have given Zianet the IP addresses. Does Mozilla Thunderbird have a third IP Address I can share with Zianet Tech Support? Zianet's phone number here in Las Cruces, New Mexico is: 1.575.353.1234. This issue is causing a lot of problems for me and my business. Thank you so much.

Optus (Australia) emails can't be sent or received by Thunderbird on my PC via my Optus wifi internet connection. I can use emails on my phone via mobile data with wifi turned off (different email client on the phone, though). Optus checked all the settings on my PC with me and they are all correct. They insist that it is a Thunderbird issue (doubtful, IMHO) and that I contact you. Is there an issue with Thunderbird connecting with Optus email? If so. is there any resolution to the issue? If not, can you confirm no problem from your end so I can get back to them (again!)

Thunderbird does not import current messages from Gmail, it lags several hours behind. For example, Gmail will show new messages arriving at 9 am but Thunderbird shows most recent messages arriving at 12 am. I have checked settings and it seems like syncing is set correctly. Google Pixel 9a, Android v16.
