P.S. It's curious that "System Details" is blank and the link to "More System Details" is also empty of information ... not even a User Agent! I noticed the same thing in another support thread you posted, on a different issue. My guess is that you are using a type of privacy program or add-on that is hiding that information, which could be related to your issue with signing out of this forum.

In any case, I've added a post to your contributor forum thread, linking back to this question.

To continue: I was directed by admin to post about this in the support forum. The problem still exists in Firefox Safe Mode. The log-out problem only exists on this site. After some trial and error this appears to be connected to my sessionid cookie.

OS Win 8.1.1 FF29.

Copying data/text from Troubleshooter results in a very long entry. Any alternatives?

This is looking likely to be a problem at your end which is why the troubleshooting info was requested. The troubleshooting information often contains a lot of print related info. If you paste the info in but edit out the print info it should be short enough to include as a reply.

With any luck as the threads are cross linked Madalina will look at both of them. I have added an escalate tag to this thread that should ensure that Admins keep track of the question.

Bear in mind that I have the same log out problem in FF safe mode.

Does this also happen in a Private Browsing mode window?

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.

• Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

I have now tried alll these options and nothing works,even in Privare Browsing, unless I clear all Moz cookies, close tab and re-open.

I have even created a new profile, with renamed cookie files [old] but behaviour persists.

This only happens on this one website. Do you have an alternative web address I could try instead of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US?

Further more the same behaviour persists on Interner Explorer. So either it's my local machine or your website. This is why I first raised this on your Contributor Forum!

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.

Rename (or delete) the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

Please read my posts above. It happens in IE as well.

Despite my misgivings I created a brand new profile and imported nothing from the old one. This time the problem ceased.

I then imported all files except session and cookie files. The problem returned. There must be some corruption in there somewhere!

What I don't understand is how this also manifests in IE. And why it only affects your website in either browser.

Any ideas?

Did you also copy all folders?

Try to exclude at least webappsstore.sqlite and the storage folder and possibly other SQLite files.

Found it! I've tracked it down to the prefs.js file. It took all morning using a pristine profile and copying over individual folders and files and endlessly restarting from the Profile Manager.

Finally replicated my problem when the prefs.js file was overwritten.

I suppose I'll now have to see which preference is causing it. No way am I going to rebuild that particular file!

Any short cuts here?

I suspect you will already be aware of all this.

The troubleshooting page lists some of your modified prefs.

Some may not be on for privacy reasons others because they are new and not white listed but looking at that gives you a starting list of modified prefs. About config displays modifed prefs in bold. You will note some are modified pragmatically and not manually.

You could use a command or utility to run a diff between various versions of the files to save some of the hard work in comparing them.

Your prefs.js file may be smaller than you think as it lists modified prefs instead of all prefs. If you run Firefox from a profile where you have deleted the prefs.js file then closed it down that will be the basic set of derived prefs that you know are ok (pesuming that profile lets you log out).

And the answer was ....to enable DOM cookie storage. I had no idea that your website used DOM storage. No warning or info anywhere! I have it disabled by default. This also explains why it affects IE I presume. I really don't like cross-browser settings.

Or have I got that wrong?

What cookie did you need to change ?

I have the pref dom.storage.enabled set to true. I have tried toggling that to false; and I am still able to log in and out of this site.

Log out [in all browsers] and exit site. Clear all Moz-related cookies. Disable DOM in about:config. Re-enter site and try to log in and out.

It's not a cookie it's just DOM.

We should be told if DOM has to be enabled for site functionality. I've only encountered it on ths site.

Originally I disabled it because of Flash and the awful Java plug-in [now removed].
