Why is Firefox only showing part of my Gmail login menu?

I log into my Gmail using a nav button on FIrefox entitled 'Google Mail - Inbox'. Whether it appeared there automatically or I put it there, it has worked fine. Today, it doesn't, I instead get an odd Google menu which shows only the text of (what I assume is) my Google account. Can one attach a file with a screenshot here, can't see any attachment facility? They say it may be caused by a broken or slow browser connection, but then Google do tend to clutch at straws. I need to work out whether the problem is Google, Firefox or both.

Can't open the 'Troubleshooting info' box below. I am on a Mac PPC G5 on Firefox 3.6.28, which Firefox keeps threatening to pull but hasn't done so yet.

Thanks Nellus91. I cannot update Firefox to 24.0 or anything else, if I remember correctly after days of hunting about for some intelligible answer on this subject, the latest version of Firefox that will work with a Power PC Mac is the one I am using, 3. 6. 28. It will NOT work with Chrome etc.

The G5 at that time switched processors and Mozilla seems desperate to drop any PPC users, of which there are a few hundred thousand. So it poses the question - should I spend £1,500 on a new G5 Mac to suit the West Coast IT behemoths or just change my browser? That is an easy one to answer, Firefox isn't the only browser in town!

So far, Mozilla haven't actually withdrawn support for the PPC as far as I know, so I assume the problem lies elsewhere

Thanks for the info on screen shots.

It is possible that Gmail is no longer supporting your old Firefox 3.6.28 version.

The last Firefox version that runs on Mac OS X 10.4 is Firefox 3.6.28.

For an unofficial Firefox 17.0.9 ESR compatible version that runs on a PowerPC Mac with OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8 you can look at TenFourFox.

hello royc2, to answer your separate issues: in order to address the layout issues, go through the steps covered in Websites look wrong or appear differently than they should - they contain the most common solutions for that...

regarding the support for macs on the ppc architecture - firefox has dropped its support for ppc long after apple has. you might want to have a look at www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/ which offers a current mozilla-based browser for your plattform.
