Hello,

Just updated to FireFox 20.0. Ctrl+F no longer shows the total found. This feature otherwise works. I did do a Reset to see if that will help. Now am putting Addons back. Worked fine in prior version (19). Use browser for research so numer is important.

So far I like the new version. Should I go back to 19? How? Using current version of Java and Flash player. Windows 8. Let me know how I can help.

Thanks for your time.

You will only see such a count if you have (had) an extension that add such a feature.
Firefox has never shown such a count by default for searches that use the Find bar.

Hello DrDOS, probably the problem is an extension that isn't working correct. Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Ideato,

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for the delay getting back to you.

Tried safe mode. No change. Already using default theme.

Ctrl-F still shows no total. It was a nice feature. If I had more than 100, just refined.

Any other ideas appreciated. I am on v21. I remember this working ok in 19 but not sure about 20.

I take it yours is working ok.

Thanks again.

Thanks. I wonder if FireFox knows how usful that was. Do you know of a way to let them know? Maybe by vote?

Hope all else is going well.

It didn't start as one - guess I should check Addons in future. It may have moved there.

Thanks and hope this helps someone else.  :)
