everytime my cursor goes over an image on a web page I get a popup for Google+, Twitter, Facebook and Gmail. How can I disable this?
This happens on every image on a page. Why would anyone in their right mind want to tweet, google+, gmail and facebook every single picture on every web page they visit throughout any given day? The tile that comes up obscures information that I actually want to read. That is why I am on the web page in the first place and not to tell everyone about a site that is now rendered unreadable by some thoughtless and banal piece of programming. If it cannot be switched off I will be dumping Firefox.

My best guess is that there is a add on or toolbar that is being annoying. You can try to find the add on or toolbar and disable it or you could also reset Firefox by going to "help">"troubleshooting information" and click on "Reset Firefox" near the top right. If this doesn't help don't hesitate to ask.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Thanks for the help folks. The problem was a rogue Add-on. Once deleted everything got back to normal.
