I've been saving my passwords on Firefox for years, without any problems. Today I disabled Google ad preferences and shortly after that realised that FF wasn't filling in my passwords, but was asking me if I wanted to save passwords it should already have had.

When I checked the saved passwords, only the passwords I used (and saved) today are in the list - all the rest have disappeared! My history is intact. Is there any way of getting the passwords back? I'm devastated!
