Saved Gmail login names & passwords sometimes do not show but if I refresh the page they do come up

Sometimes when clicking in the Username field on the gmail login screen a list that begins with about a dozen blanks and ends in "Fo..." appears. One valid email address appears as the last item in the list. Selecting this name and tabbing to the Password field fills in the correct password. Clicking the Sign in button opens that email account.

When this list appears, clicking 'reload' will bring up the complete list of registered names in random order. This is happening in Firefox 3.6.18 and started before the last 2 updates were installed. I do not want to move to version 4 or 5 at this time.

There are no saved passwords without user names and files have been synced with X marks and Sync.

It appears that if a file is used to bring the saved Google passwords to the gmail application it has extraneous data in it. I do not know if such a file exists so I can't check it.

This is a HP G71-340US notebook with Intel Core Duo and Firefox is running from the Programs (x86) folder.

I had to log into each gmail account individually before the reload would bring up the account names. Doing so did not eliminate the blank lines described above but apparently created a new list somewhere on the hd.

Before I retired I used to beta test mainframe applications that added new banking products and were dressed up with Windows so bank tellers and customer support staff could fill in the blanks properly. No cobol screens for them.

I can be reached at 603 880-5424 during reasonable east coast times if necessary.

Please tell me if I should also present this to Google.

Thanks!
