My app tabs disappear whenever I restart or shut down my computer in Mac OS X. I don't have this problem in windows. I've looked through support countless times and no, my problem is not that I have "clear history" checked in my preferences.

Just a side note, I was really excited for Firefox 4. Seemed really cool and was very fast. This app tab thing was my favorite new feature, and I'm very disappointed that it doesn't work the way it should. And until this problem is fixed Mozilla, I'm going back to Google Chrome.

App tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file sessionstore.js in the Firefox Profile Folder

There may be a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

You will have to redo App Tabs and Tab Groups after deleting sessionstore.js.

How do I access the Profile Folder? I clicked your hyperlinks but I couldn't figure out how to get to the folder.

If I delete the files that you mentioned, will it have any other effects (negative or otherwise) on Firefox or my computer?

more options

No, Firefox will create new files if you delete the current existing files and hopefully it will solve your problems.

Cool, but how do I get to the profile folder? I'm running Mac OS X.

Aight, seems the app tabs are loading normally. Thank God. And thank you cor-el, you've been most helpful. I'll be sure to let you know if any other issues arise, hope they won't.

I hope Mozilla is compensating you for all your great work, you should be working for them (Just a thought).

Hey cor-el, I'm having the same problem again. Should I delete the files I deleted last time? Or is there another solution? I'm tired of setting up my app tabs only to have them dissappear on me again and again.

You can try this extension if you keep losing App Tabs:

Okay, I'll give it a shot.

this is way too complicated for a non-techy like me. I'd only just patted myself on the back for figuring out how to create app tabs in the first place!! Hopefully there'll be a simpler solution soon as it's a real pain that the app tabs keep disappearing!

Try the extension if you do not know how to check the Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox settings
