I am using 3.6.16 on my pc laptop running win 7 and my Mac desktop...on both I am having frequent crashes and "not responding" when on multiple sites. What in the world is happening with firefox? I have used it for years without problems but past several months have been extreme disappointment. I cannot decipher the problem and it is happening on both pc and Mac. Your help page with "crashes' is not helpful and I am about ready to make Safari my default browser as firefox has become dysfunctional. The complaints about 4.0 discourages me from changing to the upgrade..Where do we go from here????

It would be sorry to see you go. Please follow the following instructions before you make a decision. Try Firefox Safe Mode if you have some plugins installed. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode#Starting_Safe_Mode Maybe a plugin causes the error. If it works in Safe Mode without crashes go here http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting%20extensions%20and%20themes#w_disable-all-extensions

The place to start trying to figure this out is with the Crash Reports submitted to Mozilla after Firefox crashes.

https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+crashes#Getting_help_with_your_crash

Type about:crashes in the URL bar and hit Enter.
Click the hyperlinks to bring up the Crash Report pages and copy'n'paste the URL of each of those reports into the message box here. We'll see if we can help you figure out what is causing those crashes to happen.

This is becoming too confusing...I do not know how to send the crash reports. Could I uninstall firefox and then reinstall the 3.6.16 to solve the problem?

This has been happening to me too, For over two months. I have tried downgrading to oldr versions, I have deleted and reinstalled. Now I can not even get a web page to open. It just sits on a blank page and says "Not Responding" Non one has responded to either email. I send crash reports, Nothing. I am done with it. Back to IE

I like using version 3.6.... i tried version 4 and 5 at some point and it kept crashing, so back to 3.6 I went and decided that i wasn't going to try any newer versions for a while.

The I start getting these messages 'You're almost there, upgrade to v9.0.1' .... so i tried it, first on my desktop then my laptop. It seemed to work ok on my desktop, but its quite powerful but on my laptop it was an absolute joke, pages were slow to load or wouldn't load at all, or would load partially without images. Flash videos stream in short bursts then stop, then maybe start again.... but mostly not! It would also use a HUGE amount of memory - 800,000k+ for 5 tabs!

So i went back to 3.6 and all was well again - 2-300,000K

I've not used my desktop for the last couple of weeks, but after coming back to it and loading up v9 I have to say ....... this version really is appalling! It's doing exactly the same things as it was doing on my laptop and on top of that its constantly crashing.

So back to 3.6 on desktop.... and i have a silly amount of tabs open.... currently around 60! Memory usage reads 500,000k, pages are loading instantly and fully and no crashing!

Should i give version 10 a go i wonder...... NOT A CHANCE !!!!

Currently using 3.6.25
