I have been sent from the USA a file that i am told is a Web Archive file named American Ancestors 1571 #2F219C. I am told that Firefox should be able to open this, but I cannot do this.

What is the file extension of that file?
MHT, MAF, or other?

Firefox doesn't display those types of files by default, but there are two extensions that add the ability to view those types of "web archive files" to Firefox.

UnMHT extension:
http://www.unmht.org/unmht/en_index.html
Extension for viewing/saving MHT file in Firefox/Mozilla Suite

Mozilla Archive Format - MAF
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/212

Thank you. The file arrived zipped and appears to have two components. One has no extension the second has the extension <.1> and is described as a '1 file'

They both appear to unzip OK.

The sender says it is the only way she can send the files and everyone else can read them without problems, but she knows absolutely nothing about her operating system or programs.
