When you drag the new version of Firefox to the Applications folder on your Mac and are presented with the option to "Replace" or "Keep Both," here’s what you need to know: Replacing Firefox

Replacing the Application: If you choose to replace the existing Firefox application, you will not lose your profile data, which includes your bookmarks, passwords, history, and toolbar settings. Your user data is stored in a separate profile folder, which is not affected by replacing the application itself.

Your Data is Safe

User Profile: Your emails (if you use a web-based email service), bookmarks, passwords, history, and other settings are stored in your Firefox profile. This profile is located in a different directory than the application itself, so replacing the application will not delete your profile data.

Steps to Ensure Safety

Backup Your Profile: If you want to be extra cautious, you can back up your Firefox profile before replacing the application:
Open Finder and click on "Go" in the menu bar.
Hold down the Option key and select "Library."
Navigate to "Application Support" > "Firefox" > "Profiles."
Copy the entire profile folder (it will have a name like xxxxxxxx.default) to a safe location (like an external drive or another folder).
Proceed with Replacement: After backing up your profile, you can safely drag the new version of Firefox into the Applications folder and choose to replace the existing version.
Open Firefox: Once the new version is installed, open Firefox. Your bookmarks, passwords, history, and other settings should all be intact.
