WSJ Site only works in Private Browsing correctly

more options

WSJ did some sort of update and now things are broken in the regula browser. I've tried disabling all my extensions, putting multiple sites on the cookies exceptions list and turning off protection in regular mode and it does not work. Private Browsing works out of the box no issues.

The main way to know if you have issues is do you see the stock ticker near the top of the webpage, your name with account info, and some drop down windows. The Live Update sub-websites are broken. I think WSJ on some sites like those thinks I'm not logged in or can't verify I'm logged in.

Its weird. I've had similar things on FireFox before, what is regular mode doing? Why does Private browsing work? Can I somehow "force" the same settings in a regular windows on a per Website basis? This doesn't seem possible at this point.

OK super weird. After clearing cache and doing a full system reboot. It now displays correctly. I rebooted due to another issue I was having but I just noticed it is back to looking normal. I am so confused right now.

I had earlier cleared cache and rebooted the browser but that did nothing. Sometimes technology frustrates me in its inconsistencies.

Hmm, I can't help noticing the large advertisement section in the private window. In case you use an ad blocker that works differently in regular and private windows, maybe one of its rules is dysfunctioning.

I use uBlock Origin which is disabled in Private Windows but if I enable it in Private or if I disable it in Normal it doesn't change anything. Screens look identical.

The ad doesn't load in private cause of my PiHole.

Just as an FYI, privacy and blocker apps constantly update themselves with the latest filters, so my guess it that someone else reported the problem recently and the fix just came out.
