Whenever Firefox updates it corrupts the Win 11 Firefox taskbar icon. Win 11 reports it's broken, and I need to delete it and pin Firefox to the taskbar again.

wlg80528, where are you finding the Firefox icon that you use for pinning? From the Start menu? Or from the running Firefox icon on the taskbar?

I am wondering if it is worth using a different Firefox source for pinning than the one you have been previously using?

Also, is Firefox installed in a location that is visible to Windows at start-up, such as the C: partition? Or do you have it installed on a removeable drive, or a partition that gets mounted after Windows has already started? Or installed on any other partition than C:?

I run it from the taskbar.

The task bar icon is a pointer from Windows | All Apps | Firefox:

Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" Start in : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox"

That is the folder where firefox.exe in installed.

That’s the source I use to re-establish it as a taskbar item when it breaks after an update.

I created a new desktop shortcut from scratch, and dropped it on the taskbar from the desktop (same info as what’s above). We’ll find out if that helps next time it updates.

wlg80528, hope it works, but if it doesn't then it might be worth noting the information of the broken icon before you remove it, to see what, if anything, is different from the above.
