Add "page loading" animation to the address bar / upper right corner
I recently moved from a Firefox fork that supports Classic Theme Restorer to one that doesn't. Sigh. It was however a relief to discover that I could make most of the same UI changes myself with a bit of effort. The only major customization remaining is a traditional "page loading" animation in the right corner of the address bar, preferably a swirly or moving dots animation and not the hourglass or ping-pong dots. How is this do-able with current builds? Thanks.

Current releases no longer have the loading throbber in the location bar, but show this indicator on the Tab bar (bug 1352119; Firefox 57), so you can see the loading progress for all the tabs at once. There in no way to get the old behavior back.

No way to get it back, eh? That's frustrating. But I did almost expect your answer because there's typically a breadcrumb trail when troubleshooting...anything. In this case, I appear to be the very first person asking the question. Two steps forward, one step back?
If this question has been asked then this likely happened right after this change landed and that was years ago and will be hard to locate. Showing the loading button on the location bar should ensure you this icon gets updated each you switch to a different tab and you can imagine that this isn't easy if you quickly browse through a lot of tabs via Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+PgUp/PgDn (this would require a timeout delay and not running on the main thread and will cause performance issues).
