Do you get ANY notifications in Firefox on your Mac? This is a simplistic test page to make sure (A) Firefox shows the expected permission prompt and (B) Firefox can send web notifications to your Mac OS:

Does that one work?

Okay, if the test site worked, then your Firefox is generally set up to allow web notifications.

To check permissions on YouTube, while you're on the site, use Command+i to open the Page Info dialog. Then click the Permissions icon along the top to open that panel.

Scroll down to "Send notifications", uncheck the "Use default" box and select "Allow"

That is saved immediately, so you can close the Page Info dialog.

Does that make any difference?

If not, maybe there is an issue between Firefox and YouTube. Hopefully someone else is more familiar with that (I generally do not log into YouTube on a browser).
