How to edit search engine url?
I'd like to add search engines to my list, without having to find addons or extensions. This used to be possible in older version of firefox by editing one of the .json/.xml files but now doesn't seem to be the case.
If this isn't possible, is there a way to modify the firefox source to allow this? I hate to say it, but it's this sort of feature removal/deprecation that is slowly turning me away from firefox. It'd be really nice to have it back.

Hello there surveyChicken can I ask what kind of device are you on? So I can determine how I can help
Thanks, Wes
You can add search engines via the Mycroft Project.
I'm using firefox 78 ESR on linux.
Okay I would try TNorths idea first and see if that helps at all I hope it does! Have a happy holiday
Sincerely Wes
There isn't an option for the url I'd like to use (lite.duckduckgo.com). Is there a way to change the search urls manually? I'm sure it used to be a 10 second job, albeit a few years ago.
There is usually an item in the context menu of the location bar to add the search engine and also in the context menu of the search field.
There is. What this doesn't let me do is add my own search engine url, or modify an existing one. To clarify, what I'm trying to do is either:
Edit an existing search engine (url, etc); OR
Add my own, using a custom url.
The url I want to edit is duckduckgo.com.
This used to be possible via one of the search json files, but I can't find anything in a human-addressible format in FF 78 ESR.
Try to look at this Information I looked up for you I hope this helps
